Emergency Communication
 Know the Facts:
 24HRS a day, 365 days a year the Red Cross
  delivers messages containing accurate,
  factual, complete and verified information.

 Death or serious illness of an immediate family
  member (*or loco parentis)

 Birth of a service member's child or grandchild

 when a family faces other emergencies such as a
  natural disaster.

Emergency Communication Con’d…
 Red Cross-verified information assists
  commanding officers with making a
  decision regarding emergency leave.

 The Red Cross does not make
  decisions regarding leave for the
  service member; we only verify and
  send messages.
 A person who took place of the parents.

 Lived with the loco parentis for 5 years or more, and
  the parents DID NOT live with them.

 The loco parentis provided all support including
  emotional and financial support.

 The loco parentis should be listed in their military
  file.
Financial Assistance
 The American Red Cross works under partnership
 agreements with the Air Force Aid Society, Army
 Emergency Relief, Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, and
 Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society to provide quality,
 reliable financial assistance to eligible applicants
 24/7/365. Types of assistance include financial
 assistance for emergency travel, burial of a loved
 one, assistance to avoid privation, etc.
Casualty Travel Assistance
Program
    (CTAP) provides travel assistance for :

    Two immediate family members to
     attend a memorial or funeral service for
     a service member killed on active duty
     in the combat zone.

    Travel to the bedside of a service
     member wounded in the combat zone.

                Lodging costs
                Assistance includes
                 funding for: Food and
                 incidentals

    in Order to Serve You Best
When calling the Red Cross, please provide as
 much of the following information about the
 service member as possible to avoid delays:

 Full name
 Rank
 Branch of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast
  Guard)
 Social Security Number or Date of Birth
 Military address (if overseas an APO or FPO)
 Name of the deployed unit and home base unit (for
  deployed service members only)
