1. Val Thorens – Ski, Relax or Party in one of the most coveted
French Alps Destinations

Val Thorens, - the resort
The resort itself is open for skiers from the last week in November to the end of the
first week in May. It’s location, in the midge of the Belleville Valley, located in the
Savoie area, and contains the world’s biggest ski area – over 600km of runs of
varying difficulty await excited piste-goers. Getting here from anywhere is relatively
simple; the resort is accessible via short transfers from Geneva, Grenoble, Saint –
Exupéry and Chambéry airports, and there’s even a heliport at the bottom of the
slopes.
On Piste
With fantastic quality snow and high tech ski lifts, Val Thorens is a snow-goers
paradise. Whether your preference is boardercross, ski touring or telemark skiing,
there’s something to suit, and you can purchase a variety of ski passes for the three
areas that are accessible from the resort itself – Les Vale2es (600km of runs), Val
Thorens-Orelle (150km of runs) or La Vallée des Belleville (300km). With most of the
resort above 200km high, you’ll also benefit from spectacular views across the
French, Swiss and Italian Alps. If you’re a novice skier, then never fear – there are
plenty of options to learn to ski and refresher courses for those that haven’t skied in
a while.
Off Piste
It’s not all about the on piste entertainment in Val Thorens though. With a
semi-pedestrianised area just waiting to be explored, with a multitude of
shops including Superdry and North Face, if you’re in need of some warmer
wear, or Atelier 7 for an off-piste outfit to die for. With cafes and bar adorning
the off piste area, you’ll also have somewhere to take the weight off your feet
once you’ve finished shopping for the afternoon. Alternatively, you could
choose to visit the hairdresser or one of the many hotel spas for a little
pampering before an exciting après ski evening.

2. Evening events
Val Thorens comes alive in the evening with a variety of top quality restaurants, nightclubs
and bars for the après ski set to frequent. Whether it’s a glass of mulled wine by a roaring
fireplace, or a delicious meal for two with outstanding views over the slopes, there’s
certainly something to delight.
A visit to Chalet des 2 Ours, for example, will provide you with either inside or outside dining
and some of the most spectacular views of the valley whilst you enjoy home made dishes
such as Crozets gratin with morel mushrooms. Delicious!
Alternatively, enjoy a somewhat more formal meal at Michelin Fork winning restaurant
Chalet de la Marine, with an outstanding wine list and taste bud-tempting menu that goes
hand in hand with breathtaking 2500m high views of the valley. If you’re in a hurry, then a
quick meal at the Bistro de la Marine is sure to suffice.
When it comes to 'after hours' entertainment, there are a number of nightclubs frequented
by part-goers from across the globe to choose from. Malaysia, a hidden gem located under a
small chalet in the resort centre is a great place to start. With a mix of live music and DJ sets
from 10pm to 4am, you can dance the night away on the Alps’ largest dance floor.
Alternatively, you could opt for a visit to Eclipse, offering live concerts and DJ sets every
night.
Summer in the Alps?
Yes, really! If you’re looking to enjoy getting fit in the cleanest air you’re ever likely
to breathe, then why not opt for a visit to Val Thorens in the summer. Whether
you’re an avid mountain biker, hiker or just want to enhance your wellbeing in this
