1. In our sequence we used black and
white edit to fit into the typical
thriller genre, an example of this
would be ‘the last man on earth’
which was shown in full black and
white which was set in 1964.
We also had the consume of drugs
in our film, this is also typical for
this genre, for example the film
LUCY was a film which involved
drugs in and was a typical thriller.
Dark colours and lighting to
connote mystery and suspense of
the film.
We used a syringe prop which was
typical, to create fear and isolation
of the character in the film.
The character had a distressed
appearance to show they were
worn out and tired, we made her
look like this by powdering her face
with white flour, this gave her a
pale, dry appearance.
In our opening we had constant
twists which lead to the plot of the
story, and that the opening gave
little clues to the film its self,
leaving the target audience
confused but intrigued.
2. How I challenged convention..
We challenged our convention by
having two consecutive storylines
in our opening instead of just
having one
How you established your main character..
We established our main character first of all
by seeing her in the family living room
injecting drugs into her body. Our main
character was the mother and her story is
very emotional as her uncontrolled feelings
towards the death of her husband and as you
think her child this created the drugs to take
over her life and throughout the film we see
how she coped with the loss of her loved
ones.
