This document describes a solvent-free copper(II) catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). A variety of azides reacted with different alkynes under these conditions to produce structurally diverse triazole derivatives in high yields within a short period of time. This procedure was efficient for the synthesis of both bis and tris triazoles. A number of functional groups were tolerated, producing excellent yields of triazole products.
