Despite the positive impacts that most of us have been really familiar with. Critics of globalization by various groups such as anti-poverty campaigners, trade unionists, and environmentalists.
My presentation will focus on 3 parts: economy environment and culture. Which supported by evidence on how globalization has created many losers as it has winners.
Globalisation has created as many losers as it has winners.

globalization is to open trade relations between
developed and developing countries.
5. FREE Trade
Industrialized countries have created business relations
with developing countries by promoting free trade
In other words, globalization operates in the interest of
industrialized countries, and therefore they continue to
control world trade at the expense of developing countries.
This has led to widespread of poverty throughout the
developing world, and as a result social progress and
human security have experienced challenges.

Editor's Notes
What is globalization? Various authors and institutions have given different definitions of what encompasses globalization.
According to the State University of New York-Levin Institute (2016),
Which is an international trade facilitated by information technology.
globalization refers to the process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different countries,
Grinin and Sheffield, (2013), state that globalization is the growth of the sizes of social systems and the increase in the complexity of inter-societal links.
These definitions can be closely related in that they all try to describe how globalization may be considered as a process of connecting the past, present.
These aspects are ecological, environmental, cultural, processes.
Globalization has impacted on these aspects in various ways,
for instance on economics; globalization has made it possible for countries to increase trade relations something that has seen the world economy experience growth and development. This has growth and development has been made possible by improvements of transport, free trade and labor availability and skills.
Despite the positive impacts, that most of us have been really familiar with
critics of globalization by various groups such as anti-poverty campaigners, trade unionists, and environmentalists
My PPT will focus on 3 parts: economy environment and culture
Which supported by evidence on how globalization has created many losers as it has winners.
One of the major goals of promoting globalization is to open trade relations between developed and developing countries.
Globalization operates mostly in the interests of developed countries who dominate international trade
However economies of developing countries are not strong enough to match those of developed countries.
With this, countries in the first world control the international trade where they benefit more.
For instance, globalization has seen U.S benefit more from international trade since the dollar is the world reserve currency.
According to post on Forbes Magazine, more than 161 countries in the world are subjected to VAT on imported goods which are high as 21.6% in Europe and a country like the U.S. does not have VAT on imports
This is a clear indicator of how globalization operates at the interest of developed countries.
Developed countries have also been affected negatively by globalization.
For instance, in developed countries, people have jobs insecurity.
This has been caused by outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to countries where the cost of manufacturing goods and wages are lower as compared to their countries.
Globalization has made outsourcing of companies’ activities possible with the goal of promoting free trade.
Citizens end up being jobless if local industries decide to outsource its manufacturing to another country
Most developing countries are desperate to attract international investors, and as a result, safety standards on free trade are ignored to produce cheap goods.
Industries in the developed world have also been accused of neglecting their people by hiring individuals from developing countries who offer labor services at very lower wages.
For example in South Africa, the case of xenophobia is trendy where the locals accuse the government of allowing many foreigners to come to their country to exhaust job opportunities that are supposed to be given to them
Globalization has led to a competitive environment in the entire world.
This is whereby each country is striving to produce and sell as many goods and services at the lowest price possible to edge other competitors by making more profits.
Under the extreme poverty conditions experienced by developing countries
Developed countries take advantage by producing selling goods at a very lower price.
In developing countries they are assured of cheap labor services as compared to their country where labor services are quite expensive.
The expectation of individuals in developing countries is that they will benefit from companies set in their countries by developed countries; however this is not always the case.
An example of a company that has benefited from this trend is the H&M Company
which is among the leading manufacturers of fashion clothes at affordable prices.
The company has stores in 35 countries across three continents.
H&M has been accused of subjecting its workers to poor working conditions such as low wages and working for long hours without compensation.
Also foreign industries set up in developing countries, such as Cambodia or Vietnam have led to death of cottage industries.
Some of the goods produced by foreign industries can be produced locally; the only difference is that goods produced by foreign industries are cheaper.
This impacts negatively to cottage industries since the local population is attracted to goods and services that are ultimately cheaper.
The result is closure of cottage industries since they cannot offer worthy business competition to foreign companies present in their country.
The environment has also been affected negatively by the increased advocacy of globalization by countries.
Globalization has led to increased production of goods and services with an attempt to cater for the world population which is experiencing massive growth.
Developed countries have taken advantage of this by producing more goods and importing them to the developing nations.
With that said, factories in the first world burn more coal, thus increasing the emission of carbon dioxide which has terrible effects on the environment.
These emissions cause global warming to speed up and impact negatively on our overall existence.
It is widely believed that carbon dioxide emissions will increase if the world fails to stop burning more coal and depending on other fossil fuels.
Last but not least, globalization has been viewed as a threat to the world’s cultural diversity.
Most people in the developing countries have abandoned their own culture following adoption of the western world which is on the increase due to globalization.
The dressing styles, eating habits and local languages have received negative impact from increased westernization.
I used to read one book, National identity, which is written by the professor Anthony Smith, he mentions that
He does not believe in superimpositions of national identity on notions of style, in the world of today where communication and media erode those national boundaries
Globalization is a complex issue that should not be ignored.
It has both positive and negative impacts to the world.
The most popular complaint about globalization is that it has made the rich richer while making the non-rich poorer.
This is a fact in that; developed countries benefit more as compared to developing countries as discussed by my ppt.
