(I) Objectives.
The MSc. program in business administration and information systems enables students to
manage technologies in a business context. The technologies covered include information
and communication technologies and their interfacing with second generation
technologies (Internet of Things and Robots).
The program give the students advanced competences, skills, and capabilities to work in
IT and business environments.
The two year study program gives you technological, business, and management
competencies that enables you to take part in and drive IT-enabled change at strategic,
tactical, and operational levels. This includes requirement specification, development, and
implementation as well as exploitation of IT to consolidate companies and facilitate new
business models.
II. Program structure
The study program is a research-based full-time graduate level programme. The program,
which started in 1984, is a progression from the knowledge and methods acquired from
the BSc in business administration and it (ha. it.) and BA information
management. Students from other study program profiles are required to have at least
22,5 ECTS in information technology competencies, 7,5 ECTS in information systems and
30 ECTS in business economics.
The program has four course blocks:
compulsory courses, 1st
semester, 30 ECTS
compulsory electives 2nd
semester, 30 ECTS. At this semester students can choose courses
with an information management profile or business and technology profile
elective courses, 3rd
semester, 30 ECTS
master thesis, 4th
semester, 30 ECTS
The compulsory courses at 1st
semester include big data management, IT-strategy making in a
global business environment, evidence based management, and management in creative businesses.
For students who want an information management profile, it is compulsory at second semester to
take communication in action at the social web, advanced strategic information management, and a
project. For students who want a business economics and technology profile, they have to take
internet of things (IoT), information economics and business, and a project. At second semester
students can take, regardless of whether they want a profile, students can take the course Technology
and Organization in a Digital World.
II. Career opportunities
Start-ups, consultant, and CIO are key job profiles for candidates who have graduated
from the program. The alumni association is very active and an important element in
2. finding future career opportunities. At the study program we emphasize awareness of
interaction with other students and companies throughout the program. Thus, we will bring
in CIOs and others in the classroom and encourage company relevant student projects to
bring career relevant study program learning activities. The jobs include business model
facilitator, big data analytics, and manager of system development and implementation
and requirement specification of infrastructure. The candidates from this program have
throughout the 30 years history all got jobs in a variety are areas.

III.a. Domain competencies1
The program gives the students:
a high scientific level within design and development of IT and within business
economics (business models, management, and organizational change)
ability to use theories and methods to analyze, describe, and solve complex and
interdisciplinary challenges and problems within design, development, adoption,
implementation, and exploitation of IT in business
a solid understanding of and ability to aid managerial aspects of IT change
a global and local perspective on IT strategies and business models
IT-enabled tools and methods to analyze and ground managerial decisions
III.b. Academic profile and competencies
The student acquires a range of general academic competences:
the ability to acquire, produce, and use new knowledge - also within new domain
areas
a comprehensive analytical and conceptual arsenal of competences in accordance
with normal academic skills
innovative capacity and capability to independently reflect and take action
oral and written communication
III.c. Practical and operational competencies
The candidates develop their personal and interpersonal competences with regards to:
ability to work independently and in teams, among these interdisciplinary group

For students with an information management profile, they get in addition specific
knowledge about the strategic and operational importance of information management.
Students with the business economics and IT profile, get also specific competencies within
business economics and internet of things.
