1. Philosophy of Teaching
By: Cedric Keith Lenox
“The sign of a great teacher is that the accomplishments of his students exceed his
own. Aristotle
My philosophy of education is to be a lighthouse for my students. Lighthouses are used to
mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shores, reefs and safe entries to harbors, and can
assist in aerial navigation. As a teacher I am the navigator to help guide my students
towards the path of success. To become a lighthouse it will take love , dedication and
services for my students; this also will, lead my students, to help them discover their
hopes and dreams without making excuses for them.
I believe as a teacher, I will need to be that light to help steer in the right direction those
students who seem to have no hope, no purpose, no desire and no values at all for
education. I believe that all children can learn no matter what home life they come from, no
matter what disability they may have, and no matter their socio-economic status. I show
my students that their darkness, failure, and lower self-esteem are now over. Students still
can make it if I give them the beliefs to do it. When children succeed, the teachers succeed.
When teachers succeed, the world succeeds, we find peace. Where we find peace, we find
love. Where there is love, all things are possible.
