College can be an amazing experience, but before you can graduate the most important
thing is to determine your major. The best way to figure out what your major is to find out what
your interests and strengths are. Everyone has interests, whether they know them or not.
Determining your major can be the most difficult thing to do, I struggled with figuring out what I
wanted to for the rest of my life.
At first I wanted to be a chiropractor because I wanted to be able to make people feel
good and not have pain. Well after having an interview with a chiropractor, who told me that
women cannot become chiropractors, I decided that it just was not for me. No, it was not because
of that crappy sexist chiropractor interview, I decided I still wanted to be able to help others
through their lives. Soon after realizing that I still wanted to help people, I decided that I wanted
to go into the field of Psychology.
I was trying to figure out what kind of career that I wanted in the psychology field, while
thinking about this important decision I was watching Criminal Minds. Then it hit me like a ton
of bricks I wanted to be just like Reed. Reed is a forensic psychologist that figures out crimes
that involves the motives of a criminal. I am so interested in this because I absolutely love
solving problems and puzzles that this would be so perfect. This also helps my love for helping
others to figure out who and why someone did what they did.
Overall I love helping people through life struggles and solving problems, like they are
puzzle pieces. Choosing a major can be fairly difficult if you do not know what you are
interested in. The only way that you will love the rest of your life is to be doing something that
you love every day. I finally choose what I wanted to do by knowing exacting what I love to do.
I hope my love for others will be put to great use someday.
