Carter Griggs is pursuing an Executive Masters in Natural Resources from Virginia Tech, anticipated to complete in May 2016. He has an Associate's degree in Forest Management and Technology from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College and a Bachelor's degree in History from Hampden-Sydney College. His experience includes internships with NASA conducting urban forestry inventory using GPS and GIS mapping, working parks and recreation for American Land and Leisure, and conducting night audits for Keswick Hall. NASA Forestry GIS Service Learning Project
Urban Forestry Inventory Two-Week Internship June 2014
Worked for the NASA Langley base as part of two GIS mapping courses. Measure tree height/
diameter, identified tree species, assessed tree health, and diagnosed necessary applications.
Used Nomad Trimble GPS units to input tree locations and ArcGIS to provide descriptive maps
for Langley.

Intern Parks and Recreation Summer 2013
Provided land-use maintenance for park within National Forest, including campgrounds, marina,
beaches, wildlife clearings, roads, and wooded trails. Lead three-man crew. Tasks included
