• Corporate is derived from the word corporation, Corporation is
arrived from the word “Cooperate” which means support each
other.
• The word corporation came into existence during the mercantilism
period in Europe.
• Group of small companies had joined hands together during the
mercantilism period to achieve the common goal of making profit.
• Reason for joining hands – reduce the risk of loss.
• Modern companies came into existence in the 20th century. Post
World wars, large companies purchased smaller companies to
expand their Industrial base.
