Title: Teaching at a Distance: The Online Faculty Work Environment
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Instructional technology and pedagogy; cyberspace environments; work environments and
issues involving minorities, and women and mentoring and advising students for academic
success.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
2006-Present Project Director & Co-Principal Investigator – The Ronald E. McNair
Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program, School of Arts and Sciences, Hunter
College, CUNY, New York, NY.
Direct and oversee the delivery of instructional services including workshops for this
federally funded program providing resources for preparation to graduate school for low-
income-first generation students and underrepresented groups in graduate education. Recruit
and market program as well as develop instructional concepts and curricula as needed.
Mentor and advise students on the graduate school admissions process. Work closely with
faculty to facilitate stronger faculty mentoring experiences with students, securing strong
outcomes: 95 percent of scholar obtaining entrance into master’s and doctoral programs
nationally. Supervise staff and instructors in the program. Manage a federal funded budget
for five year-Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program Grant (2007-
2011), and currently awarded five additional years (2012-2117) to the sum total of over 2
million dollars within the last six years.
2004-2006 Visiting Assistant Professor- MAGNET Post-Doctoral Fellow-Graduate Center-
CUNY. Office of Educational Opportunity and Diversity Programs.
Assisted in recruitment for the CUNY Pipeline Program and follow-up work on Pipeline
alums. Conducted workshops and luncheons for funded (MAGNET) graduate students.
Mentor MAGNET fellows. Taught seminars and research responsibilities applicable to
current research interests.

March 1994 Researcher – Havana, Cuba
Conducted field research in Havana, Cuba. Worked with student researchers
and professors from New York and Cuba in a collaborative effort and
participatory research in a community park in a small town in Havana.
Conducted interviews and did content analysis and visual presentations to
present findings. Funding provided by the CUNY/Caribbean Exchange Project.
