Los indicadores bibliométricos constituyen una potente herramienta para la gestión de la actividad científica y tecnológica. El objetivo de este informe es disponer de indicadores para el análisis de la actividad investigadora a través de sus publicaciones recogidas en la base de datos Web of Science (WoS). Los resultados son una aproximación a la producción global del Campus.
2. Los indicadores bibliométricos constituyen una potente herramienta para la gestión de la
actividad científica y tecnológica, ya que permiten efectuar un seguimiento de la investigación
y valorar los efectos de las acciones de I+D desarrolladas.
El objetivo del informe es disponer de indicadores bibliométricos para el análisis de la
actividad investigadora del Campus de Gandia de la Universitat Politècnica de València a
través de sus publicaciones científicas recogidas en la base de datos Web of Science (WoS).
La actividad científica del Campus de Gandia se estudia a través de indicadores de actividad,
relativos a la producción total por áreas temáticas; indicadores de impacto, basados en el
factor de impacto de las revistas de publicación y en las citas recibidas por los documentos; e
indicadores de colaboración, basados en la presencia de uno o más centros nacionales o
extranjeros en los documentos.
Fuentes de datos
El estudio se ha realizado utilizando como fuente de información la base de datos Web of
ScienceTM y la herramienta InCitesTM ambas de Clarivate Analytics (antes Thomson Reuters).
InCites es una herramienta web de evaluación personalizada basada en citas, que permite a
las instituciones llevar a cabo análisis de productividad y comparar resultados a nivel nacional
e internacional. Todos los datos se basan en datos biográficos y de citas de Web of Science,
fuente de datos multidisciplinar, fiable y objetiva en más de 100 países desde hace más de 50
años.
La imposibilidad de filtrar por los documentos del Campus de Gandia en la Web of Science, así
como la no disponibilidad de ORCID por parte de todos los investigadores del Campus, ha
hecho que se tenga que construir una estrategia de búsqueda un tanto compleja, y cuyos
resultados son una aproximación a la producción global del Campus.

4. • Volumen de producción en Web of Science del Campus de Gandia
En el periodo comprendido entre 1980 y 2016 el Campus de Gandia de la Universitat
Politècnica de València dispone de un total de 1.317 documentos de sus investigadores en la
Web of Science Core Collection (WoS). Para el conjunto de la UPV la cifra es de 19.107
documentos en WoS, por lo que el Campus de Gandia representa el 6,90% de total de la
producción de la UPV en WoS.

en la WoS es de 345.813.

El total de citas es el indicador más simple que se puede obtener de las bases de datos
bibliográficas, para tener el cuenta el tamaño de la institución analizada y el número de
documentos que posee en la Web of Science se utiliza el indicador de numero medio de
citas por documento.
El set de documentos del Campus de Gandia tiene un promedio de citas por documento
de 8,88, mientras que el promedio de citas por documento de la UPV es de 16,64.

Como el número absoluto de citas depende de la disciplina, fecha de publicación y tipo de
documento, actualmente el indicador de citas más aceptado es el índice de citación
relativa. Este índice pondera el número de citas recibidas por un paper teniendo en cuenta
su área temática, año y tipo de documento.
La UPV tiene un índice de citación relativa de 1,13, lo que significa sus papers son citados
un 13% más de la media mundial. El Campus de Gandia tiene un índice de citación relativa
de 0,95, aunque como veremos con diferencias notables por área temática.

Permite comparar la visibilidad obtenida por las distintas disciplinas, valores superiores a
1 indican más citas de las esperadas en su categoría. Para las áreas temáticas menos de
100 documentos el indicador puede no resultar del todo fiable.
