2. WHEN WAS THE EARTHQUAKE?
• Quito , April 16 .- An earthquake of 7.8 degrees on Saturday night was
recorded at 18:58 local in several cities in Ecuador , whose epicenter was in
Pedernales ( Manabí ) in the Ecuadorian coast, with a depth of 20 km and no
tsunami warning, according to a preliminary report by Alexandra Alvarado,
Geophysical Institute
3. MAGNITUDE
• The US Geological Survey says the
quake reached 7.4 magnitude , 27
kilómetos south of Muisne (
Esmeraldas ) .
• The movement , which lasted at
least 50 seconds, also felt strongly
in Quito and Guayaquil.
4. DAMAGE
• At least 350 people died in the earthquake of
magnitude 7.8 on the Richter scale and
subsequent aftershocks on Sunday struck the
northern part of the coastal region of Ecuador
and also caused multiple damage . This figure
-a dead which we must add at least 2,068
wounded corresponds to the latest official
figures , released Monday by the Ecuadorian
Security Minister Cesar Navas.
5. VICTIMS
• So far (16:00 local time on April 20,
2016), there are at least 7015 wounded,
107 missing and at least 587 people have
fallecido. The Office for Global Affairs
Canada confirmed that two citizens of
that country were among those killed in
the city of Pedernales. in the first
instance, Colombia's foreign ministry had
reported that at least one citizen of
that country also was among those killed,
however, for Monday 18 he reported to the
same entity seven Colombian citizens
among victims.a religious of Irish origin
was also found under the rubble of the
town of Playa manabita Prieta.
6. DONATIONS FOR THE VICTIMS
Officially opened four options for donations to deliver food
supplies and money, through the Ministry of Economic and Social
Inclusion (MIES) , the other two through the municipalities of
Quito and Guayaquil, and a fourth option with the Episcopal
Conference.
