1. Dear Evan/Justin
Greetings from PETA’s Officer for Canine Affairs, Zorro aka Wondering Officer (WoOf)!
PETA’s Media Officer has stepped away from his computer for a few minutes, so I’m grabbing this
opportunity to write to you because I understand that you are a man of great taste (well, a dog
lover, which is much the same thing!).
Your recent chat about doggy healthcare was very moving. I hope Mr Whippy is doing well/I hope
Toffee is all better now. One thing in particular struck a chord with me. You see, I’m from a little
town in Costa Rica called Brasilito. I was living on the street, but one day I met a nice lady and had
my photograph taken with her. We got on really well and we quickly became friends. She called me
‘Zorro’, which is Spanish for ‘fox’, because she said that’s what I look like. We used to meet at the
same café every day because her landlady wouldn’t let me stay with her. But when she went home
to the UK, she took me with her.
The thing is, though, if my human mum hadn’t helped me, I don’t know what would have happened.
Here in the UK, thousands of dogs are put to sleep every day because they aren’t as lucky as me. And
a lot of dogs come from puppy mills, which are really horrid places with small cages and no love or
healthcare at all.
You know that the love of a dog is priceless. That’s why I’m asking you, if the time comes that you’re
thinking of getting another dog, to give a home to a rescue dog.
Thank you for your time,
Love Zorro
