2. One thing that appeals to
Me about this video is the
introduction section at the
start.
This establishes the narrative that
follows and allows the students to develop the characters and
the reasons for their interaction during the video.
Although the narrative is not linear, as the audience is
introduced to the beginning of the story they understand why
the story is happening.
3. This video also contains many
examples of interesting editing,
often in time with the music.
Shots that appear very simple such as
the one with the squirrel moving
become a part of the visuals and add
to the overall feel of the video.
The editing also uses the lyrics as an
inspiration and often shows distinctive
phrases to emphasise their presence
in the song, such as the counting
down.
4. This video also uses setting and
diegesis in a very effective way. There
is a sharp contrast between the
scenes set outside and the ones in the
world created in the video.
Costumes are also used to create a
surreal impression, and to present the
characters in an instantly recognisable
way as bizarre and show that this is
their role in the narrative.
This distinction also allows the video to jump to different
sections whilst still maintaining a clear narrative.
