To Whom It May Concern:
The intent of this letter is to provide an explanation of the tenure of Bruce Miklavic as the Branch Manager of
Dynamex-Pittsburgh and to provide my experience with Bruce Miklavic as the Branch Manager of Dynamex -
Pittsburgh. I have been the Branch Manager of Dynamex-Columbus since 1996, and periodically have been
tasked with the training of Branch Managers at other Dynamex locations.
On March 2, 2015 I was tasked with assisting Dynamex-Pittsburgh due to a number of significant concerns. In my
opinion, Dynamex-Pittsburgh could not have been more poorly managed in almost all aspects of the business.
Financial performance was dreadful. Basic employment law was disregarded. The safety of the employees and
the transportation service providers was of little or no concern. The issuers at Dynamex-Pittsburgh can be
attributed to the lack of professionalism of previous Branch Managers and the lack of attention and involvement
by regional management.
Bruce Miklavic was hired as the Branch Manager of Dynamex-Pittsburgh on May 5, 2015. While Bruce did not
have substantial experience in the transportation industry, his resume indicated that he possessed an abundant
amount of professional management experience. Bruce then displayed his professional management experience
throughout the interview process. Bruce became the obvious choice to repair then grow Dynamex-Pittsburgh.
From the very beginning, Bruce began making positive changes at Dynamex-Pittsburgh. All expenditures were
reviewed and justified. Branch safety issues were identified and corrected. Employee tasks were clarified and
assigned appropriately. Most importantly, the customers of Dynamex-Pittsburgh experienced an overnight
improvement of their interactions with Dynamex-Pittsburgh.
On May 26, 2015, at the Dynamex corporate level, it was decided that Dynamex-Pittsburgh would be closed. For
a number of reasons, the decision to close Dynamex-Pittsburgh could not have occurred at a worse time. The
most important reason was that the timing of this closure would have seriously hampered our ability to service our
customers, as our customers approached their peak seasons.
As expected, Bruce Miklavic handled this news and the subsequent closure of Dynamex-Pittsburgh in the most
professional manner possible. Bruce went beyond what could reasonably be expected during this period. He
continued to strive for and make improvement in the customer experience, and was mindful of the financial
ramification of all his decisions.
Based on my experience with Bruce Miklavic, I could not recommend him more strongly for a management
position. I am absolutely convinced that given a reasonable opportunity and much sooner than expected, Bruce
would have made Dynamex-Pittsburgh a profitable, thriving operation.
Should you have any question, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
William H. Ewing
Branch Manager
