Extracts from the Bible, that Addresses Inherent “LIFE” Impacting Scriptures:
Able to Invigorate a Yielding Soul, Expressing the Heart of God, His Aim,
Purpose and Expectation of the Man, He Created in His own Image;
Basically, an Understanding of How to, Receive and Retain Salvation,
Sanctification, Consecration Including Discipleship and Biblical Exposition on
Related Scriptures.
All Scriptures From KJV and The Living Bible, Commentaries from Amplified & JSM. Key: Scriptures -----, Commentaries (----)
Gen.1:1 KJV, In the beginning, God created the heaven and the Earth (In the
beginning GOD- The Bible always assumes, and never argues God’s existence.
[God had no beginning; He always was, always is, and always shall be- Ps.102:25,
Isa.40:21, Jn.1:1-10], whilst the rest of the Bible is an expansion on the theme of
Who God is, what He is like, what He is doing, His purpose for creating man-
Essentially in His Own Image and Likeness)!
As “believers”, we have already agreed, that the world never came out of evolution-
It must be noted that, the only bases for our discussion and seeking to know more of
Him, “if at all”, must be void of any disagreement or controversy on the basic Truth
that, God is without beginning and without ending- FOR IN THE BEGINNING
GOD........ However, we may need to be reminded that, this is synonymous to
another- “In the beginning” i.e. Jn.1:1!
Therefore, He brings about the beginning of all else through His Power as Creator-
The Eternity of God is difficult for the human mind to understand since we are so
rooted in time, and are accustomed to measuring life by the passage of time, hence;
Through Faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so
that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear- Hebs.11:3.
Eternity is another dimension of existence and belongs solely to God.
1
Time itself is a creation of God- and the experience of a succession of events and
experiences for a created being.
Meanwhile, God existed well back, in the dimension of Eternity, when He had not
created time. Everything else had a beginning, God had always been [Ps.90:2], God
stands above time just as He stands above matter and persons whom He also
created, and He interacts with persons and things within time.
We human creatures cannot explain the existence of God- His existence will always
be a mystery to the human mind.
Gen.1:2 KJV, And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the
face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (From
this report, it is obvious that- God did not originally create the Earth without form or
void; something went wrong- This was due to the revolt of Lucifer against God,
Lucifer is the name of Satan, an angel, originally created by God, who served the
Lord in righteousness, before his revolution, Isa.14:12, Rev.12:4.
He led a revolution against God, with about one-third of the angels- all the
catastrophe that befalls the Earth today can be laid at the feet of this revolution
orchestrated by Satan.
Gen.1:3 KJV, And God said, Let there be light; and there was light (This is the
Original Concept of the Man in Ministry: The Word of God [Jesus Christ, is that
light) ;
Jn.1:1-37 KJV, this is another reference to the same; In The Beginning, of Gen.
1:1, that translates the physical manifestation of God’s Word into spiritually
conscripted outcomes], -God through His Word brings all things into existence out of
nothingness.
The Victory that overcomes darkness is not some motivational jamboree or shouting-
it is the life that is light and shinning- Col.1:27 ........Christ in you, the hope of glory).
The following are few extracts from Jn.1:1-37, inferred above:
2
Jn.1:5 KJV, And the Light shines in darkness; and darkness comprehended it not
(i.e. Satan, in his best cannot overcome- the Light, that is Shinning, located in a
human life and made possible, through the Cross Rom.6:3-5, [ Col.1:27.....Christ in
you .....], which is God’s solution for conquering darkness)!
The Light which is Christ in a Believer- keeps darkness at bay- so that God can do a
work through our lives and all things will be orderly!
Note: To think that we can start something for God (whether a Church, Bible Class,
Discipleship Meetings or some kind of religious activity)- When we are not carrying a
Life- that is Light with its Luminous Intensity, capable of keeping darkness at bay-
will tantamount to a useless work!
For “men of God”- to think we can address the chaotic situation; that the power’s of
darkness has brought on the world today, without a Life-Light (Shining and located
in the Believer’s life), we cannot go far!
Jesus in the likeness of The Father [the Incarnation], came into the earth; He is that
“Light”, and it is the Life and Light of Christ Jesus, in a man, that keeps
“darkness” at bay [meanwhile, God’s Provision, that enables the Life and Light of
Christ Jesus, dwell in a man- as initially promised in Deut. 4:29; 18:18, has been
established in the New Dispensation- Rom.6:3-14; 1Cor.1:17; 12:13; Gal.3:27;
Eph.4:5; Col.2:11– 13 ]).
Jn.1:8 KJV, He (John the Baptist) was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of
that Light (Jesus Christ).
Jn.1:9 KJV, That was the true Light (i.e. Jesus), which lighteth every man who
comes into the world (Col.1:27).
Gen.1:4 KJV, And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light
from the darkness (It must be noted here that, light is ever God’s solution to
overcome darkness, and JESUS CHRIST is that light- Jn.8:12).

As we exert ourselves to obtain a divine knowledge, definite spiritual understanding
and impartation, into the Word of God, with a propensity and desire to grasp the
euphoria of the phenomenon that evolves into such principles that emanates into the
Mystery of the Gospel- we must still be praying;
that the Lord will grant us an appropriate spiritual insight, a kind of a divine symposia
with the Person of the Holy Spirit Himself- So that, our roots, may go down deep into
the soil of God’s marvellous love- which, enables the removing of the shell, that
encapsules God’s Word, which now, enables us obtain the required divine insight-
even as we examine the following scriptures :
Hebs.1:1-3 & 8 The Living Bible- LONG AGO GOD spoke in many different ways
to our fathers through the prophets [in visions, dreams and even face to face], telling
them little by little about his plans.
Hebs.1: 2, The Living Bible- But now these days he has spoken to us through his
Son to whom he has given everything, and through whom he made the world and
everything there is.
Hebs.1:3, The Living Bible- God’s Son shines out with God’s glory, and all that
God’s Son is and does marks him as God. He regulates the universe by the mighty
power of his command. He is the one who died to cleanse us and clear our record of
all sin, and then sat down in highest honour beside the great God of heaven.
Hebs.1: 8, The Living Bible- but of his Son he says, “Your Kingdom, O God, will
last for ever and ever ; its commands are always just and right.
Hebs.1:1-3 & 8 KJV- God, Who at sundry times and in divers manners (each of
which set forth a portion of the truth) spoke in time past unto the fathers by the
Prophets (Old Testament Dispensation).
Hebs.1:2 KJV, Has in these last days (in this dispensation of Grace) spoken unto us
by His Son (i.e. the Incarnation) Whom He has appointed Heir of all things (through
the Cross), by Whom also He made the worlds (proclaims His Deity, as the previous
4
phrase of Him being the “Heir of all things” i.e. His Humanity);
Hebs.1:3 KJV, Who being the brightness of His Glory (the out-raying of God’s
Glory), and the express Image of His Person (the Very God), and upholding all
things by the Word of His Power, when He had Himself purged our sins (concluded
at the Cross [Isa.53:5-6; Roms.6:3-5], Jesus addressed the cause, the alluring
power, the untameable life and guilt of sin); sat down on the Right Hand of the
Majesty on high;
Heb.1:8 KJV, But unto the Son He said, Your Throne, O God; is forever and ever: a
sceptre of Righteousness is the sceptre of Your Kingdom (only obtainable through
the Cross [Rom.6:3-14]).
Gen.1:5, And God called the light Day (a Personality [meanwhile, JESUS IS THAT
LIGHT Jn.1:1,4-5,8], 1Thessa.5:4-8, the Day {above in capital}, is a Person that can
have children- hence, 1Thessa.5:5a, you are all the children of light, and the children
of the Day- Jn.8:12, ...I am the light of the world ...): and the darkness He called
Night (a personality as well, and Satan is the origin of darkness [hence,
1Thessa.5:5b, we are not of the Night, nor of darkness).
Gen.1:26, And God said, Let Us (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), make man (mankind)
in Our Image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the
sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth, and over
every creeping thing that creeps upon the Earth (....”in Our Image, after Our
likeness” inferred above, is not the physique as many imagine, it is to do with a
nature [ species of Life], God’s kind of Life, inserted into our body of clay) ;
A life of Righteousness and Holiness as emphasised in Eph.4:24- And that you put
on the new man, which after God is created in Righteousness and true Holiness.
[Even though Adam lost the first man, created in God’s Own Image and Likeness
culminating into the fall {Gen.3:1-13}, God through His Son, Jesus Christ at the
Cross-
5
has evacuated “through Death”, the fallen nature inherited from Adam Gen.5:3, and
by His (Christ) Resurrection raised us with Him in “newness of life” i.e. we were
given, Jesus’ kind of LIFE Rom.6:3-11].However, we can only obtain the new man,
as joint heir with Christ Jesus, even, as we see our death in and through, His death
on the Cross.
Gen.5:3, And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own
likeness ( God created man in His Own perfect image, but now, sinful Adam has a
son in his own imperfect image- God originally intended for mankind to procreate
“sons and daughters of God” into the world; but, due to the fall, sons and daughters
could be brought into the world only in the likeness of their original parent, Adam, a
product of his fallen nature ), and after his image (Adam no longer had the image of
God ; his [Adam’s] “likeness” and “image” is now after Satan (Jn. 8:44); and called
his name Seth:
THE FIERY SERPENTS
Num.21:4-9 KJV, And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, to
compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged
because of the way. (Whilst the New Creation life guaranties “us” total deliverance
from darkness, and has translated us into the Kingdom of His Dear Son [by means of
the Cross], we must often remember that, it may not be milk and honey- every day)!
We must know both how to be abased, and abound: everywhere and in all things, to
be instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need-
Phil.4:12 .
Knowing that, it is well with us whether we have plenty or in need- it must not have
bearing on our Faith in God, and we must continue in our instruction in
Righteousness!
Usually, in following the Lord, the “way” is not always easy, however, this particular
difficult way was the Israelite’s own doing;
6
if their fathers had believed the Lord, they would have been in the Promised Land
approximately 38 years before.
Num.21:5 KJV, And the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Wherefore
have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness?
For there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light
bread. (This is to say, they hate the Manna [same rebellion as their fathers], as
believers, in whatever circumstance we find ourselves, we must rejoice- thanking the
LORD Daily and never complain, but, fail not to learn whatever lesson the Lord may
be trying to teach us- for some of these things are caused by our own disobedience.
We should therefore, ask Him to deliver us, and graciously, He will )!
To do otherwise, means unbelief and a great insult to our LORD!
Num.21:6 KJV, And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the
people; and much people of Israel died. (As Believers, we must always know that
Satan can do nothing against us, unless the Lord allows it)!
Num.21:6 The Living Bible, So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among them to
punish them, and many of them were bitten and died.
Num.21:7 KJV, Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, we have sinned, for
we have spoken against the Lord, and against you; pray unto the Lord, that He take
away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Num.21:8 KJV, And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it
upon a pole (sin and Satan was the reason for the Cross, and the pole was a type of
the Cross): and it shall come to pass, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks
upon it, shall live (i.e. whosoever, looks to Christ and the Cross has the sentence of
death abated and, therefore, shall “live”).
Num.21:9 KJV, And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole and it
came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he behold the serpent of
brass, he lived (which is a symbol of Christ Death on the Cross, for our Redemption
[however, about 400 years earlier; the Lord showed Abraham the manner of
7
Salvation: it would be through the death of an innocent victim, i.e. the Son of God
[Jn.8:36 ] ; the Cross here is symbolised by the serpent on the pole ).
Jn. 8:36, If the Son therefore shall make you free (Christ Alone can make one free,
and He does so through and by what He did at the Cross, and our Faith in that
Finished Work), you shall be free indeed (a freedom which the world does not even
understand).
In Contrast To The Physicality (of the Old Dispensation) Above:
NECESSITY
1Cor.15:45-50, And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul ; the
last Adam (i.e Jesus),was made a quickening Spirit.(Life giving Spirit, through the
Cross).
Vs.46, Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural ; and
after, that which is spiritual (i.e. Adam, who is of the earth, and his descendants
received natural, earthly bodies, whilst Christ the last Adam, the Man from heaven,
who became incarnate in a human body, received a glorified, spiritual body).
Vs.47, The first man (Adam) is of the earth, earthy. (materialistic [earthly-minded]):
the Second Man (Christ) is the Lord from Heaven
Vs.48, As is the earthy, such are they also who are earthy (earthly-minded): and as
is the Heavenly, such are they also who are Heavenly. (Heavenly -minded).
Vs.49, And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image
of the Heavenly, (i.e. the image of Christ Jesus, which is Heavenly).
Vs.50, Now this I say, Brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of
God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption. (“the said Flesh and blood” comes
8
under “corruption” whilst “the Kingdom of God- through and by the Cross” comes
under “incorruption”).
DISCIPLESHIP
Lk.9:23-24,- And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me (the condition for
Discipleship), let him deny himself (forget, disown, refuse, give-up, lose sight of
himself and his own interest [since, we died in Him at the Cross, when He died], and
this must not be just a positive confession or asceticism as many think, but rather
that one- [accept his death, when we died in Christ Jesus on the Cross], deny one’s
own will–power, self–will, strength, ability, his own desires and conveniences-
but, depending totally on Christ [the New Creation Man]), and take up his cross
(cleaving steadfastly to the benefits of the Cross, looking exclusively to what
Jesus did there to meet our every need) daily (this is so important, our looking to
the Cross;
that we must renew our Faith in what Christ has done for us , even on a daily
basis, for Satan will ever try to move us away from the Cross as the object of
our Faith, which always spells disaster), and follow Me ([conforming wholly to
Christ’s example in living and, if need be, in dying also] meanwhile, Christ can
only be followed as we look {through the Life of Christ, that we received when
He resurrected from the Cross- the Sweet fragrance of Christ, which exhales unto
God, “by Faith” understanding what it accomplished there for us, and by that means
alone (Rom. 6:3-5, 11, 14; 8:1-2,11; 1Cor. 1:17 – 18, 21, 23; 2:2 Gal. 6:14; Eph.
2;13-18; Col. 2:14-15).
Vs.24, For whosoever will save his life shall lose it ([insist on keeping his life], or try
to live one’s life outside of Christ and the Cross, will lose and destroy it): but
whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it ([from the penalty of
eternal death], when we place our Faith entirely in Christ and the Cross, looking
exclusively to Him, we have just found “more abundant life” [Jn. 10:10]).
9
THE CROSS
Rom.6:3-11, Vs. 3- Know you not, that so many of us as were baptised into Jesus
Christ ([sin’s power over us was broken, as we were Baptised to become a part of
Jesus Christ and became Christians], emphatically, this Baptism is into Christ and
not water 1Cor.1:17-18; 12:12-13; Gal.3:26-27; Eph.4:4-6; Col.2:10– 15- Check the
Living Bible) were baptised into His Death? (In the heart of God, we were buried
[baptised] with Christ Jesus, and lay dead, for a purpose. [i.e. we died with Him; He
became our Substitute, and our identification with Him in His Death gives us all the
benefits for which He died]; through His Death, the power of our sinful nature, was
shattered, for- He did it all for us) ! .
Vs.4, Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death (not only did we die
with Him, our Old Man, entirely all that we were, before the operation of the Cross,
the sin-loving nature was buried with Him by Baptism when He died as well, and lay
dead, i.e. all the sin and transgressions of the past were buried; when they put Him
in the Tomb, they put all of our sins into the Tomb as well):
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so
we also should walk in newness of life (we died with Him, we were buried with Him,
in other that, just as Christ was raised from the dead in the splendour of the Father,
so we too might [habitually] live and set our feet upon the new path of life Rom.5:20-
21, 6;10 , that is to say, His Resurrection was our Resurrection to a “Newness of
Life”).
Vs.5, For if we have been planted together (if we “activate it by Faith” and have
become a part of Christ [ i.e. incorporate with Him in a death like His ]) in the
likeness of His death (and now you share His new life i.e. the Cross is the instrument
through which all Blessings come [The New Creation Life Experience, which is, our
exchange of Life at the Cross ]; consequently, the Cross must ever be the Object of
our Faith, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work within our lives), we shall be
also in the likeness of His Resurrection (we can have the “likeness of His
Resurrection,” i.e. “live this Resurrection Life- New Creation Life,” [a new life lived for
God], only as long as we understand the “likeness of His Death,” which refers to the
Cross as the means by which all of this is achieved):
Vs.6, Knowing this, that our old (untameable) man is Crucified with Him (all that we
were before Conversion), that the body of sin might be destroyed (our old evil
desires were nailed to the Cross with Him; that part of you that loves to
10
sin was crushed Hed.10:1-39, specifically verse 9 in the Old Living Bible- In order
that [our] body {which is the instrument of sin, might be made ineffective and inactive
for evil} that is, the power of sin is broken- which is, that part of you that loves to sin),
that henceforth we should not serve sin (the guilt of sin is removed at conversion,
because the sin nature no longer rules within our hearts and lives).
Vs.7, For he who is dead (He was our Substitute, and in the Mind of God, we died
with Him upon Believing Faith), is freed (loosed, delivered) from sin (set free from
the allure, power and bondage of sin nature [among men]).
Vs.8, Now if we be dead with Christ (by Believing Faith in the accomplished Victory
on the Cross, and our being Baptised into His Death, [ i.e since your old sin-loving
nature “died” with Christ] by Faith), we believe that we shall also live with Him (have
Resurrection Life, the [New Creation Life], which is more Abundant Life, i.e. we know
that, you will share Christ’s Life [Jn. 10:10]):
Vs.9, Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more (His Work was a
Finished Work, and will require nothing else); death has no more dominion over Him
(because all sin has been Atoned ;
inasmuch as Christ is our Substitute, since death has no more dominion over Him, it
has no more dominion over us; this means that the power of the sin nature is broken
[Rom.6:4; 7:6;]).
Vs.10, For in that He died, He died unto sin (the sin nature) once (ending His relation
to it, once and for all]): but in that He lives (the Resurrection [the New Creation Life]),
He lives unto God (i.e. all life comes from God, and we receive that life [in unbroken
fellowship with Him], by virtue of the Cross and our Faith in that Finished Work).
Vs.11, Likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin (In the same
way, consider and look upon your old sinful nature as dead and unresponsive to sin
and your relation to it broken; while the sin nature is not dead, we are dead unto the
sin nature by virtue of the Cross and our faith in that Sacrifice, however, it would
work for us, only as long as our Faith continues in the Cross [in Thought
Utterances and Action]), but alive unto God (living the Resurrection Life, in
unbroken fellowship with Him [ alert to him], in union with Jesus Christ our Lord )
through Jesus Christ our Lord (refers to what He did at the Cross which is the means
of this Resurrection Life [The New Creation Life]).

THE STRUGGLE AGAINST SIN
Rom. 7: 7 – 25, The Living Bible, Well then, am i suggesting that these laws of God
are evil? Of course not ! No, the law is not sinful but it was the law that showed me
my sin. I would never have known the sin in my heart – the evil desires that are
hidden there – if the law had not said, “You must not have evil desires in your heart.”
Rom. 7: 8, The Living Bible, But sin used this law against evil desires by reminding
me that such desires are wrong and arousing all kinds of forbidden desires within
me! Only if there were no laws to break would there be no sinning.
Rom. 7: 9, The Living Bible, That is why I felt fine so long as I did not understand
what the law really demanded. But when I learned the truth, I realised that I had
broken the law and I was a sinner, doomed to die.
Rom. 7: 10, The Living Bible, So as far as I was concerned, the good law which
was supposed to show me the way of life resulted instead in my being given the
death penalty.
Rom. 7: 11, The Living Bible, Sin fooled me by taking the good laws of God and
using them to make me guilty of death.
Rom. 7: 12, The Living Bible, But still, you see, the law itself was wholly right and
good.
Rom. 7: 13, The Living Bible, But how can that be? Didn’t the law cause my
downfall? How then can it be good? No, it was sin, devilish stuff that it is, that used
what was good to bring about my condemnation. So you can see how cunning and
deadly and damnable it is.
For it uses God’s good laws for its own evil purposes.
Rom. 7: 14, The Living Bible, The law is good, then, and the trouble is not there but
with me, because I am sold into slavery with sin as my owner.
Rom. 7: 15, The Living Bible, I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do
what is right, but I can’t. I do what I don’t want to- what I hate.
Rom. 7: 16, The Living Bible, I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong,
and my bad conscience proves that I agree with these laws I am breaking.
Rom. 7: 17, The Living Bible, But I can’t help myself, because I am no longer doing
it, It is sin inside me that is stronger than I am that makes me do these evil
things.
12
Rom. 7: 18, The Living Bible, I know I am rotten through and through so far as my
old sinful nature is concerned. No matter which way I turn I can’t make myself do
right. I want to but I can’t.
Rom. 7: 19, The Living Bible, When I want to do good, I don’t; and when I try not to
do wrong, I do it anyway.
Rom. 7: 20, The Living Bible, Now if I am doing what I don’t want to, it is plain
where the trouble is : sin still has me in its evil grasp.
Rom. 7: 21, The Living Bible, It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do
what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.
Rom. 7: 22, The Living Bible, I love to do God’s will so far as my new nature is
concerned;
Rom. 7: 23, The Living Bible, but there is something else deep within me, in my
lower nature, that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a
slave to the sin that is still within me.
In my mind I want to be God’s willing servant but instead I find myself still
enslaved to sin. So you see how it is :
my new life tells me to do right, but the old nature that is still inside me loves
to sin.
Rom. 7: 24, The Living Bible, Oh, what a terrible predicament I’m in !
Who will free me from my slavery to this deadly lower nature?
Rom. 7: 25, The Living Bible, Thank God ! It has been done by Jesus Christ our
Lord. He has set me free.
KJV Version of the Above Scriptures, for Deeper Understanding, Which Forms the
Pivot of a Right Premise, for our Salvation:
Rom. 7:7 – 25 KJV, What shall we say then ? (In verses 1 through 6 of this Chapter,
Paul has shown that the Believer is no longer under Law; in the remainder of the
Chapter, he shows that a Believer putting himself under Law, thus failing to avail
himself of the resources of Grace, is a defeated Christian).
Is the Law sin? God forbid (man’s predicament is not caused by the Law of God, for
the Law is Holy; rather it is exposed). No, I had not known sin, but by the Law
(means that the Law of Moses defined what sin actually is, but gave no power to
13
overcome sin) : For I had not known lust, except the Law had said, You shall not
covet (tells us that the desire for what is forbidden is the first conscious form
of sin; this is the sin nature at work)!
Rom. 7:8, KJV, But sin (the sin nature), taking occasion by the Commandment,
wrought in me all manner of concupiscence (“concupiscence” is “evil desire” i.e. if
the Believer attempts to live for God by means other than through [our death “by
Faith” with Christ on the Cross and the resultant “Resurrection Life”, which we
received when God the Father raised Jesus from the death], he will be ruled by
“evil desires” and no matter how dedicated he might be, he will not be able to stop
the process in that manner, with it getting worse and worse).
For without the Law sin was dead (i.e. the Laws of Moses fully, exposed what was
already in man’s heart; that’s one of the reasons God gave the Law).
Rom. 7:9, KJV, For I was alive without the Law once (Paul is referring to himself
personally and his conversion to Christ; the Law, he states, had nothing to do with
that conversion; neither did it have anything to do with his life in Christ): but when the
Commandment came (having just being saved, and not understanding the Cross of
Christ, he tried to live for God by keeping the Commandments through his own
strength and power; in his defence, no one else, as yet understood the Cross; infact,
the meaning of the Cross, which is actually the New Covenant, was yet given to
Paul), sin revived (the sin will always, without exception, revive under such
circumstances, which result in failure), and I died (he did not die physically, but, that
he died to the Commandment, in other words, he failed to obey no matter how hard
he tried; which is a lesson to all Believers that, if Paul the Apostle couldn’t live for
God in this manner, neither can we)!
Rom. 7:10, KJV, And the Commandment, which was ordained to life (refers to the
Ten Commandments), I found to be unto death (means that the Law revealed the
sin, as it always does, and its wages which are death; in order words, there is no
victory in trying to live by the Law; we are to live by Faith, referring to Faith in Christ
and the Cross).
Note: verses 11 – 25 may be email to you, if necessary!
14
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
Rom.8:1-2, 11, 14, 17-19 and 35. There is therefore now no condemnation (no
adjudging guilty of wrong) to them which are in Christ Jesus (i.e. those in whom
Rom.6:3-5 and our being Baptised into His Death has being effective, and the
resultant Resurrection, into Newness of life), who walk not after the flesh
(awaitingthose who live and walk not after the dictates of the flesh, nor depending
on one’s personal strength and ability or great religious efforts in order to overcome
sin), but after the Spirit (but, after the Dictates of the Spirit [the Holy Spirit works
exclusively within the legal confines of the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross]; our
Faith in that Finished Work, i.e., “the Cross,” guarantees the help of the Holy Spirit,
which in turn, guarantees Victory).
Rom.8:2, For the Law (the power of the life giving Spirit [1Pet. 1:18-20]; God’s
Prescribed Order of Victory”) of the Spirit of life (Jn. 16:13-14) in Christ Jesus (the
Law of our New Being) has made me free (has delivered me from the vicious circle
and given me total Victory) from the Law of sin and death (these are the two most
powerful Laws in the whole Universe; the “Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” by
far Supersedes the “Law of Sin and Death”; i.e. if the Believer attempts to live for
God by any manner other than Faith in Christ and the Cross, he is sure to fail).
CONTRAST
Rom.8:11, But if the Spirit of Him (of God) who raised up Jesus from the dead dwell
in you (then), He who raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (restore to
life) your (short-lived perishable) mortal bodies (give us power in our mortal bodies
that we might live a victorious life [He will make your dying bodies live again]) by His
Spirit Who dwells in you (we have the same power in us, through the Spirit , that
raised Christ from the dead, and is available to us only on the premise of the Cross
and our Faith in that Sacrifice).
15
DELIVERANCE
Rom.8:14, For as many as are led by (i.e. only those who are led by God’s Spirit are
His Children; hence, [why it is written], Christ in your hearts is your only hope of
glory- the Spirit of God (through the Cross), they are the sons of God Col.1:27b).
Rom.8:17, And if children (God’s Children), then heirs; heirs of God (sharing Christ’s
inheritance with Him), and joint-heirs with Christ (all that belongs to Christ, belongs
to us through the Cross which, includes His suffering); if so be that we suffer with
Him (going forth therefore unto Him without the camp, with readiness to bear His
reproach-Heb.13:13 and 2Cor. 4:8-12), that we may be also glorified together (if we
share His sufferings now [through the Finished Work of Christ, on the Cross], in
order to share His splendour hereafter).
Rom.8:18, For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time (as concerns the
world and its condition because of the Fall) are not worthy to be compared with the
glory which shall be revealed in us (our glory will be a reflective glory, coming from
Christ).
Rom.8:19, For the earnest expectation of the creature (creation), waits (expectantly
and longs earnestly), for the manifestation of the sons of God (longs for the
revealing, the disclosing of their son-ship).
Rom.8:35, Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ? (as concerns the Love of
Christ for the Believer ) shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword? (i.e. when we are hunted down or destroyed, is it
because He doesn’t love us anymore? If we have trouble or calamity, or are
persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death! [Sufferings
or Death, does not and should not, {normally}, separate genuine Believers from the
love of Christ} but, actually carry them along towards their ultimate goal, for, it is
actually glorious and the greatest privilege, if counted worthy to suffer or die for
Christ- Rom.8:17; 2Tim.2:12; 3:12; 1Pet.2:21], however, these cannot be achieved
by our own will power, self will, strength, nor ability, we must depend totally on
Christ, looking exclusively to what Jesus did on the Cross, to meet our every need,
even on a daily bases).
16
THE DISTINCTION
Rom.9: 8-18, That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the
Children of God (it is not the children of the body [flesh],of Abraham, who are made
God’s children [i.e. they are not Children of God, just merely because they are
Jews]): but the Children of the Promise are counted for the seed ([Gal.3:16], it is the
Children Born through God’s Promise {Who is Christ and ultimately His Victory
through the Cross}),
For further illustrational purposes,, it follows that- 1Pet.1:18-20; Vs.20, Who verily
was foreordained before the foundation of the world (which is to say that God in His
Omniscience, knew He would create man, man would fall, and would be redeemed
by Christ going to the Cross: this was all done before the universe was created; i.e.
the Cross of Christ is the foundational doctrine of Christianity, upon which every
doctrine must spur from, else any form of Christianity, outside the premise of the
Cross is specious and doomed to fail, but was manifest in these times for you (i.e.
the invisible God Who in the Person of Jesus Christ [the Son], was made visible to
human eyesight by assuming a human body and limitations).
Vs.9, For this is the Word of Promise (activated by Faith), At this time will I come,
and Sarah shall have a son ([the “Promise, that would figure into Christ ”]
Gen.18:10).
Vs.10, And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived (two sons under
exactly the same circumstances) by one, even by our father Isaac (indicating here
that, Salvation is not obtained nationalistically);
Vs.11, (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil
(Esau and Jacob), that the purpose of God according to election might stand (and,
due to God’s foreknowledge), not of works, but of Him Who calls; (even so, in order-
further to carry out God’s purpose of selection [election, choice, which depends not
on works or what men can do, but on Him Who calls “them”], this, signifying and
exemplifying the entire basis of God’s dealings with men, and His manner of
operation).
Vs.12, It was said unto her (found in Gen. 25:21-23), The Elder shall serve the
younger (before Rebekah’s children were born, God made a choice- a choice
obviously not based on works).
Vs.13, As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated (held in relative
disregard in comparison with My feeling for Jacob [Mal.1:2-3]).
17
Vs.14, What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid
(i.e. God through foreknowledge knows the attitude of the two boys, which reflects
His election).
Vs.15, For He said to Moses, I will have Mercy on whom I will have Mercy, and I will
have Compassion on whom I will have Compassion (Ex.33:19).
Vs.16, So then (God’s gift) it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs (It depends
not on ones own willingness, nor his strenuous exertion as in running a race), but on
God having Mercy on him.
Vs.17, For the Scripture said unto Pharaoh (Ex.9:16), even for this same purpose
have I raised you up (here the Lord is using what’s available, and not forcing the
issue upon Pharaoh i.e.; God did not predestine Pharaoh to rebel), that I might show
my Power in you, and that my Name might be declared throughout all the earth (as
stated, God used the stubbornness of Pharaoh’s own choice, to glorify His Name –
God’s Name).
Vs.18, Therefore has He Mercy on whom He will have Mercy (God will always have
Mercy on those who meet His Conditions), and whom He will He hardens
(stubbornness towards God will be met with God forcing the issue by providing the
setting which will make the heart even harder ; in other words, if one wants
hardness, one will get hardness).
CONSECRATION
Rom.12: 1-2, I beseech you therefore, Brethren (I appeal to you and beg you), by
the Mercies of God, that you present your bodies a Living Sacrifice ( presenting all
your members and faculties [your Thoughts, Utterances and Actions], and
through the Finished and acceptable Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross- which is
only Obtainable, when our Faith is placed strictly in Christ and the Cross,
which then gives the Holy Spirit latitude to carry out this great work within our
lives), holy (that which the Holy Spirit Alone, can do), acceptable unto God (Actually
Means- a Holy Physical Body ; i.e. “A Temple,“ is all that He will accept), which
is your reasonable service (reasonable if we look to Christ and the Cross; otherwise
impossible) !
Vs.2, And be not conformed to this world (adapted to its external, superficial
customs): but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (we must think
spiritually, which refers to the fact that everything is furnished to us through
the Cross and is obtainable by Faith and not works), that you may prove what is
18
that good (is put to the test and finds that the thing tested meets the specifications
laid down), and acceptable, and perfect, Will of God (presents that which the Holy
Spirit is attempting to bring about within our lives, and can only be obtained by ever
making the Cross the Object of our Faith).
WISDOM
1Cor.1:17-18 For Christ sent me not to baptise, but to Preach the Gospel (the
manner in which one may be Saved from sin [ i.e. through the exchange of Life at
the Cross]): not with wisdom of words (intellectualism or the language of worldly
wisdom, is not the Gospel), lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect
(This tells us in no uncertain terms that- the Cross of Christ must always be the
emphasis of the Message, so that the fact of Christ on His Cross might have its full
weight).
Vs.18, For the Preaching (Word) of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness
(Spiritual things cannot be discerned by unredeemed people [ its sheer folly ], but
that doesn’t matter; the Cross must be Preached just the same); but unto us which
are saved it is the Power of God. (The Cross is the Power of God simply because it
was there that the total sin debt was paid, giving the Holy Spirit, in Whom the Power
resides, latitude to work mightily within our lives).
ONE BODY
1Cor.12:13, For by one Spirit (the Holy Spirit Alone does this) are we all baptised
into one Body (at Salvation; the Holy Spirit Baptises the Believing sinner into the
Body of Christ [ we were all make up of one body ], which is the Born-Again
experience; it doesn’t refer to Water Baptism), whether we be Jews or Gentiles,
whether we be bond or free (all must come in the same manner, “by and through
Jesus Christ and what He did for us at the Cross”); and have been all made to drink
into one Spirit ( [in the one Spirit ] The Holy Spirit is the agent Who affects the work
of Redemption carried out in our lives, which is made possible by the Death, Burial,
Resurrection, Ascension, and Exaltation of Christ).
THE HELPER
Jn.14:20, At that day (after the Resurrection, and the coming of the Holy Spirit on
the Day of Pentecost) you shall know that I am in my Father (speaks of Deity; Jesus
is God!), and you in Me (has to do with our Salvation by Faith [subsequently, the
Cross must ever be the Object of our Faith, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to
work within our lives ]), and I in you (enables us to live a victorious life, through the
Cross [Gal. 2:20-21]).
19
JUSTIFICATION
Gal. 2:20-21 I am Crucified with Christ (as the Foundation of all Victory; Paul, here,
takes us back to Rom. 6:3-5): nevertheless I live (have new life): yet not I (not by my
own strength and ability because, the life i now live is not my life), but Christ lives in
me ([but, the life which Christ lives in me, which means, the Kingdom of God is in me
and i am sited with Him in Heavenly places ], by virtue of me dying with Him on the
Cross, and being raised with Him in newness of life): and the life which I now live in
the flesh (my daily walk before God) I live by the Faith of the Son of God (the Cross
is ever the Object of my Faith, [ and the real Life i now have within this body is a
result of my trusting in the Son of God]), Who loved me, and gave Himself for me
(which is the only way that I could be saved).
Vs.21, I do not frustrate the Grace of God (if we make anything other than the Cross
of Christ [i.e. the evacuation of life at the Cross], the Object of our Faith, we frustrate
the Grace of God, which means we stop its action, and the Holy Spirit will no longer
help us) : for if Righteousness come by the Law (any type of Law, [ for if we could be
saved by keeping Jewish laws ]) then Christ is dead in vain (If i can successfully live
for the Lord by any means other than Faith in Christ and the Cross, then the Death of
Christ was a waste).
FAITH
Gal.3:27, For as many of you as have been baptised into Christ (Baptised into union
with Him, refers to the Baptism into His Death at Calvary [Rom.6;3-5]; the reference
is not to Water Baptism) have put on Christ (i.e. to be clothed with Him [Jn. 14:20]).
VICTORY
Gal.5:16-18, This I say then, Walk (order your behaviour) in the Spirit (we do so by
placing our Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross, through which the Spirit works
exclusively [Rom.8:1-2]), and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (This proves the
existence of the sin nature, vehemently attempting to course [even a Believer’] fall).
It declares the consciousness of corrupt desires. As stated, the only way to not fulfil
the lust of flesh is for our Faith to be placed exclusively in the Cross).
Vs.17, For the Flesh (in this case, evil desires) lusteth against the Spirit (is the
opposite of the Holy Spirit), and the Spirit against the flesh (it is the Holy Spirit alone,
who can subdue the flesh; He does so, as repeatedly stated, by our Faith being
placed exclusively in the Cross): and these are contrary the one to the other (these
two can never harmonise; as Paul has stated, the old nature must be cast out, which
20
the Holy Spirit Alone can do): so that you cannot do the things that you would.
(Without the Holy Spirit, Who works by the Cross, the Believer cannot live a Holy
life).
Vs.18, But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the Law. (One cannot follow
the Spirit and the Law at the same time, but regrettably that’s what most modern
“Christians” are attempting to do. Unless one properly understands the Cross as it
regards Sanctification, one cannot be properly “led of the Spirit” Who works
exclusively within the framework of the Finished Work of Christ).
SPIRITUAL LIFE
Vs. 24, And they who are Christ’s have Crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts. (This can be done only by the Believer understanding it was carried out by
Christ at the Cross and our being “Baptised into His Death” [Rom.6:3-5]. That being
the case; and as repeatedly stated, the Cross must ever be the Object of our Faith,
which alone will bring about these result).
Eph. 4:5, One Lord (Jesus Christ), one Faith (what He did at the Cross), one
Baptism (our Salvation, referring to Believers Baptised into Christ, which was done at
the Cross; it has nothing to do with Water Baptism [Rom. 6; 3-5]),
THE GIFT OF CHRIST
Eph.4:8-9, 15-16, 22-24, 31-32 Wherefore He said (Ps. 68:18), When He ascended
up on high (the Ascension ), He led captivity captive (liberated the souls in Paradise;
before the Cross, despite being Believers, they were still held captive by Satan
because the blood of bulls and goats could not take away the sin debt; but when
Jesus died on the Cross, the debt was paid, and now He makes all of these His
Captives), and gave Gifts unto men. (These “Gifts” include all the attributes of Christ,
all made possible by the Cross).
Vs.9, (Now that He ascended (mission completed), what is it but that He also
descended first into the lower parts of the earth? (Immediately before His Ascension
to Glory, He first went down into Paradise to deliver all the believing souls in that
region, which He did).
Vs.15, But speaking the Truth in Love (powerfully proclaiming the Truth of the Cross,
but always with Love), may grow up into Him in all things (proper Spiritual Growth
can take place only according to proper Faith in the Cross [ 1Cor.1:21, 23; 2:2]),
which is the Head , even Christ (Christ is the Head of the Church, and is such by
21
virtue of the Cross):
Vs.16, From Whom (Christ Jesus) the whole body (Christ as the Head, and the
Church as the body) fitly joined together (presents the foot in the place it ought to be,
and the eye in its proper place etc.) and compacted by that which every joint
supplies (one part is dependent on the other), according to the effectual working in
the measure of every part (every part labours to produce a great result), making
increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love (building itself up; will happen
when we function according to God’s Prescribed Order [which comes by grace],
which is the unity of the Faith; again, refers to a proper understanding of the Cross).
MORAL STANDARDS
Vs.22, That you put off (which can be done only by proper understanding of the
Cross and placing one’s Faith exclusively in the Cross) concerning the formal
conversation (i.e. concerning the formal manner of life) the old man (refers to the
unsaved person dominated by the totally depraved nature [Rom. 6:6]), which is
corrupt according to the deceitful lusts (the unsaved person is subject to a
continuous process of corruption, which grows worse as time goes on)*;
Vs.23, And be renewed (a continuous act of cleansing, which is made manifest,
even as we learn of Him through His Word Daily) in the spirit of your mind (has to do
with the human will; the mind of the Believer must be pulled from a dependence on
self, to a total dependence on Christ, which can only be done by making the Cross,
ever the Cross, the Object of one’s Faith [Rom. 12:1-2])*;
Vs.24, And that you put on the new man (we are created a “new man” by virtue of
being Baptised into His Death, Buried with Him by Baptism into Death, all speaking
of the Crucifixion, and being Raised with Him in “newness of life” [Rom.6:3-5]), which
after God is created in Righteousness and true Holiness (This is what the “new man”
is supposed to be, and what ha can be, but only by reckoning himself to be dead
indeed unto the sin nature [which was done at the Cross], but alive unto God through
Jesus Christ our Lord [Rom.6:11]).
Vs.31, Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be
put away from you, with all malice (achieved, as the Believer puts his Faith in the
Cross and keeps his Faith in the Cross, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work,
these evil things can then be “put away” from our lives, [operationally, as the Holy
Spirit, prompts the Believers heart to make amend ”], which, is then, ultimately
achieved by prayer, with our Faith consistently, in the Cross, and knowing that
2Cor.4:10-12 and Heb.13:13 takes there turn in the Believers live)!*
Col. 2: 11-15, Vs.11, In Whom also you are circumcised with the Circumcision made
without hands (that which is brought about by the Cross [Rom.6:3-5], not in a
22
physical sense), in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the Circumcision of
Christ ( by being divested of the lower nature, which is Christ’s way of circumcision
and refering to the old carnal nature that is defeated by the Believer placing his Faith
totally in the Cross, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work, [i.e. when you came
to Christ- activating by faith what He accomplished for us at the Cross, He set you
FREE from your evil nature and its desires, not by a bodily operation of circumcision
but, by a spiritual operation, the Baptism of your souls into Christ]):
Vs.12, Buried with Him in Baptism, (does not refer to Water Baptism, but rather to
the Believer baptised into the death of Christ, which refers to the Crucifixion and
Christ as our substitute [Rom. 6:3-4], i.e. in Baptism, your old evil nature died with
Him and was buried with Him). Wherein also you are risen with Him through the
Faith of the operation of God, Who has raised Him from the dead (This does not
refer to our future physical Resurrection, but to that spiritual Resurrection from a
sinful Nature into Divine Life. We died with Him, we are buried with Him, and we rose
with Him [Rom.6:3-5], and herein lies the secret to all spiritual victory, which means.
you came out of death with Him into a New Life, because you Trusted the Word of
the ALMIGHTY GOD who raised Christ from the dead).
Vs.13, KJV, And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh
(speaks of spiritual death, [i.e., “separation from God”], which sin does) has He
quickened together with Him ( refers to being made spiritually alive, which is done
through being “Born-Again” , [meaning, then, He gave you a share in the very Life of
Christ]), having forgiven you all trespasses (the Cross made it possible for all
manner of sins to be forgiven and taken away);
Vs.13, Old Living Bible, You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet
cut away (speaks of spiritual death [i.e., “separation from God” ], which sin and sin
Nature does). Then He gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for He forgave all
your sins (the Cross made it possible for all manner of sins to be forgiven, taken
away and the sin Nature cut off),
Vs.14, KJV, Blotting out the handwriting of Ordinances that was against us (pertains
to the Law of Moses, which was God’s standard of Righteousness that man could
not reach), which was contrary to us (Law is against us, simply because we are
unable to keep its precepts, no matter how hard we try), and took it out of the way
(refers to the penalty of the Law being removed), nailing it to His Cross (the Law with
its decrees was abolished in Christ’s Death, Crucified with Him);
Vs.14, OLB, and blotted out the charges proved against you (pertains to the Law of
Moses, which was God’s standard of Righteousness that man could reach). He took
this list of sins and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ Cross (the Law with its decrees
was abolished in Christ Death, Crucified with Him).
23
Vs.15, KJV, And having spoiled principalities and powers (Satan and all of his
henchmen were defeated at the Cross by Christ Atoning for all sin; sin was the legal
right Satan had to hold man in captivity; with all sin atoned, he has no more legal
right to hold anyone in bondage), He (Christ) made a show of them openly (what
Jesus did at the Cross was in the face of the whole universe), triumphing over them
in it (The triumph is complete and it was all done for us, meaning we can walk in
power and perpetual victory due to the Cross).
Vs.15, OLB, In this way God took away Satan’s power to accuse you of sin (Satan
and all of his henchmen were defeated at the Cross by Christ Atoning for all sin and
the sin Nature; sin was the legal right Satan had to hold man in captivity; with ALL
in atoned, he has no more legal right to hold any one in bondage).
And God openly displayed to the whole world Christ’s triumph at the Cross- where
your sins were all taken away (what Jesus did at the Cross was in the face of the
whole universe- The triumph is complete and it was all done for us, meaning we can
walk in power and perpetual victory due to the Cross).

Gbems copy PDF of New Creation Man 02 01 16

  • 1. Extracts from the Bible, that Addresses Inherent “LIFE” Impacting Scriptures: Able to Invigorate a Yielding Soul, Expressing the Heart of God, His Aim, Purpose and Expectation of the Man, He Created in His own Image; Basically, an Understanding of How to, Receive and Retain Salvation, Sanctification, Consecration Including Discipleship and Biblical Exposition on Related Scriptures. All Scriptures From KJV and The Living Bible, Commentaries from Amplified & JSM. Key: Scriptures -----, Commentaries (----) Gen.1:1 KJV, In the beginning, God created the heaven and the Earth (In the beginning GOD- The Bible always assumes, and never argues God’s existence. [God had no beginning; He always was, always is, and always shall be- Ps.102:25, Isa.40:21, Jn.1:1-10], whilst the rest of the Bible is an expansion on the theme of Who God is, what He is like, what He is doing, His purpose for creating man- Essentially in His Own Image and Likeness)! As “believers”, we have already agreed, that the world never came out of evolution- It must be noted that, the only bases for our discussion and seeking to know more of Him, “if at all”, must be void of any disagreement or controversy on the basic Truth that, God is without beginning and without ending- FOR IN THE BEGINNING GOD........ However, we may need to be reminded that, this is synonymous to another- “In the beginning” i.e. Jn.1:1! Therefore, He brings about the beginning of all else through His Power as Creator- The Eternity of God is difficult for the human mind to understand since we are so rooted in time, and are accustomed to measuring life by the passage of time, hence; Through Faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear- Hebs.11:3. Eternity is another dimension of existence and belongs solely to God. 1
  • 2. Time itself is a creation of God- and the experience of a succession of events and experiences for a created being. Meanwhile, God existed well back, in the dimension of Eternity, when He had not created time. Everything else had a beginning, God had always been [Ps.90:2], God stands above time just as He stands above matter and persons whom He also created, and He interacts with persons and things within time. We human creatures cannot explain the existence of God- His existence will always be a mystery to the human mind. Gen.1:2 KJV, And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (From this report, it is obvious that- God did not originally create the Earth without form or void; something went wrong- This was due to the revolt of Lucifer against God, Lucifer is the name of Satan, an angel, originally created by God, who served the Lord in righteousness, before his revolution, Isa.14:12, Rev.12:4. He led a revolution against God, with about one-third of the angels- all the catastrophe that befalls the Earth today can be laid at the feet of this revolution orchestrated by Satan. Gen.1:3 KJV, And God said, Let there be light; and there was light (This is the Original Concept of the Man in Ministry: The Word of God [Jesus Christ, is that light) ; Jn.1:1-37 KJV, this is another reference to the same; In The Beginning, of Gen. 1:1, that translates the physical manifestation of God’s Word into spiritually conscripted outcomes], -God through His Word brings all things into existence out of nothingness. The Victory that overcomes darkness is not some motivational jamboree or shouting- it is the life that is light and shinning- Col.1:27 ........Christ in you, the hope of glory). The following are few extracts from Jn.1:1-37, inferred above: 2
  • 3. Jn.1:5 KJV, And the Light shines in darkness; and darkness comprehended it not (i.e. Satan, in his best cannot overcome- the Light, that is Shinning, located in a human life and made possible, through the Cross Rom.6:3-5, [ Col.1:27.....Christ in you .....], which is God’s solution for conquering darkness)! The Light which is Christ in a Believer- keeps darkness at bay- so that God can do a work through our lives and all things will be orderly! Note: To think that we can start something for God (whether a Church, Bible Class, Discipleship Meetings or some kind of religious activity)- When we are not carrying a Life- that is Light with its Luminous Intensity, capable of keeping darkness at bay- will tantamount to a useless work! For “men of God”- to think we can address the chaotic situation; that the power’s of darkness has brought on the world today, without a Life-Light (Shining and located in the Believer’s life), we cannot go far! Jesus in the likeness of The Father [the Incarnation], came into the earth; He is that “Light”, and it is the Life and Light of Christ Jesus, in a man, that keeps “darkness” at bay [meanwhile, God’s Provision, that enables the Life and Light of Christ Jesus, dwell in a man- as initially promised in Deut. 4:29; 18:18, has been established in the New Dispensation- Rom.6:3-14; 1Cor.1:17; 12:13; Gal.3:27; Eph.4:5; Col.2:11– 13 ]). Jn.1:8 KJV, He (John the Baptist) was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light (Jesus Christ). Jn.1:9 KJV, That was the true Light (i.e. Jesus), which lighteth every man who comes into the world (Col.1:27). Gen.1:4 KJV, And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness (It must be noted here that, light is ever God’s solution to overcome darkness, and JESUS CHRIST is that light- Jn.8:12). 3
  • 4. As we exert ourselves to obtain a divine knowledge, definite spiritual understanding and impartation, into the Word of God, with a propensity and desire to grasp the euphoria of the phenomenon that evolves into such principles that emanates into the Mystery of the Gospel- we must still be praying; that the Lord will grant us an appropriate spiritual insight, a kind of a divine symposia with the Person of the Holy Spirit Himself- So that, our roots, may go down deep into the soil of God’s marvellous love- which, enables the removing of the shell, that encapsules God’s Word, which now, enables us obtain the required divine insight- even as we examine the following scriptures : Hebs.1:1-3 & 8 The Living Bible- LONG AGO GOD spoke in many different ways to our fathers through the prophets [in visions, dreams and even face to face], telling them little by little about his plans. Hebs.1: 2, The Living Bible- But now these days he has spoken to us through his Son to whom he has given everything, and through whom he made the world and everything there is. Hebs.1:3, The Living Bible- God’s Son shines out with God’s glory, and all that God’s Son is and does marks him as God. He regulates the universe by the mighty power of his command. He is the one who died to cleanse us and clear our record of all sin, and then sat down in highest honour beside the great God of heaven. Hebs.1: 8, The Living Bible- but of his Son he says, “Your Kingdom, O God, will last for ever and ever ; its commands are always just and right. Hebs.1:1-3 & 8 KJV- God, Who at sundry times and in divers manners (each of which set forth a portion of the truth) spoke in time past unto the fathers by the Prophets (Old Testament Dispensation). Hebs.1:2 KJV, Has in these last days (in this dispensation of Grace) spoken unto us by His Son (i.e. the Incarnation) Whom He has appointed Heir of all things (through the Cross), by Whom also He made the worlds (proclaims His Deity, as the previous 4
  • 5. phrase of Him being the “Heir of all things” i.e. His Humanity); Hebs.1:3 KJV, Who being the brightness of His Glory (the out-raying of God’s Glory), and the express Image of His Person (the Very God), and upholding all things by the Word of His Power, when He had Himself purged our sins (concluded at the Cross [Isa.53:5-6; Roms.6:3-5], Jesus addressed the cause, the alluring power, the untameable life and guilt of sin); sat down on the Right Hand of the Majesty on high; Heb.1:8 KJV, But unto the Son He said, Your Throne, O God; is forever and ever: a sceptre of Righteousness is the sceptre of Your Kingdom (only obtainable through the Cross [Rom.6:3-14]). Gen.1:5, And God called the light Day (a Personality [meanwhile, JESUS IS THAT LIGHT Jn.1:1,4-5,8], 1Thessa.5:4-8, the Day {above in capital}, is a Person that can have children- hence, 1Thessa.5:5a, you are all the children of light, and the children of the Day- Jn.8:12, ...I am the light of the world ...): and the darkness He called Night (a personality as well, and Satan is the origin of darkness [hence, 1Thessa.5:5b, we are not of the Night, nor of darkness). Gen.1:26, And God said, Let Us (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), make man (mankind) in Our Image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the Earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the Earth (....”in Our Image, after Our likeness” inferred above, is not the physique as many imagine, it is to do with a nature [ species of Life], God’s kind of Life, inserted into our body of clay) ; A life of Righteousness and Holiness as emphasised in Eph.4:24- And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in Righteousness and true Holiness. [Even though Adam lost the first man, created in God’s Own Image and Likeness culminating into the fall {Gen.3:1-13}, God through His Son, Jesus Christ at the Cross- 5
  • 6. has evacuated “through Death”, the fallen nature inherited from Adam Gen.5:3, and by His (Christ) Resurrection raised us with Him in “newness of life” i.e. we were given, Jesus’ kind of LIFE Rom.6:3-11].However, we can only obtain the new man, as joint heir with Christ Jesus, even, as we see our death in and through, His death on the Cross. Gen.5:3, And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness ( God created man in His Own perfect image, but now, sinful Adam has a son in his own imperfect image- God originally intended for mankind to procreate “sons and daughters of God” into the world; but, due to the fall, sons and daughters could be brought into the world only in the likeness of their original parent, Adam, a product of his fallen nature ), and after his image (Adam no longer had the image of God ; his [Adam’s] “likeness” and “image” is now after Satan (Jn. 8:44); and called his name Seth: THE FIERY SERPENTS Num.21:4-9 KJV, And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. (Whilst the New Creation life guaranties “us” total deliverance from darkness, and has translated us into the Kingdom of His Dear Son [by means of the Cross], we must often remember that, it may not be milk and honey- every day)! We must know both how to be abased, and abound: everywhere and in all things, to be instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need- Phil.4:12 . Knowing that, it is well with us whether we have plenty or in need- it must not have bearing on our Faith in God, and we must continue in our instruction in Righteousness! Usually, in following the Lord, the “way” is not always easy, however, this particular difficult way was the Israelite’s own doing; 6
  • 7. if their fathers had believed the Lord, they would have been in the Promised Land approximately 38 years before. Num.21:5 KJV, And the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light bread. (This is to say, they hate the Manna [same rebellion as their fathers], as believers, in whatever circumstance we find ourselves, we must rejoice- thanking the LORD Daily and never complain, but, fail not to learn whatever lesson the Lord may be trying to teach us- for some of these things are caused by our own disobedience. We should therefore, ask Him to deliver us, and graciously, He will )! To do otherwise, means unbelief and a great insult to our LORD! Num.21:6 KJV, And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. (As Believers, we must always know that Satan can do nothing against us, unless the Lord allows it)! Num.21:6 The Living Bible, So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among them to punish them, and many of them were bitten and died. Num.21:7 KJV, Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, we have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against you; pray unto the Lord, that He take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. Num.21:8 KJV, And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole (sin and Satan was the reason for the Cross, and the pole was a type of the Cross): and it shall come to pass, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks upon it, shall live (i.e. whosoever, looks to Christ and the Cross has the sentence of death abated and, therefore, shall “live”). Num.21:9 KJV, And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he behold the serpent of brass, he lived (which is a symbol of Christ Death on the Cross, for our Redemption [however, about 400 years earlier; the Lord showed Abraham the manner of 7
  • 8. Salvation: it would be through the death of an innocent victim, i.e. the Son of God [Jn.8:36 ] ; the Cross here is symbolised by the serpent on the pole ). Jn. 8:36, If the Son therefore shall make you free (Christ Alone can make one free, and He does so through and by what He did at the Cross, and our Faith in that Finished Work), you shall be free indeed (a freedom which the world does not even understand). In Contrast To The Physicality (of the Old Dispensation) Above: NECESSITY 1Cor.15:45-50, And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul ; the last Adam (i.e Jesus),was made a quickening Spirit.(Life giving Spirit, through the Cross). Vs.46, Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural ; and after, that which is spiritual (i.e. Adam, who is of the earth, and his descendants received natural, earthly bodies, whilst Christ the last Adam, the Man from heaven, who became incarnate in a human body, received a glorified, spiritual body). Vs.47, The first man (Adam) is of the earth, earthy. (materialistic [earthly-minded]): the Second Man (Christ) is the Lord from Heaven Vs.48, As is the earthy, such are they also who are earthy (earthly-minded): and as is the Heavenly, such are they also who are Heavenly. (Heavenly -minded). Vs.49, And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the Heavenly, (i.e. the image of Christ Jesus, which is Heavenly). Vs.50, Now this I say, Brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption. (“the said Flesh and blood” comes 8
  • 9. under “corruption” whilst “the Kingdom of God- through and by the Cross” comes under “incorruption”). DISCIPLESHIP Lk.9:23-24,- And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me (the condition for Discipleship), let him deny himself (forget, disown, refuse, give-up, lose sight of himself and his own interest [since, we died in Him at the Cross, when He died], and this must not be just a positive confession or asceticism as many think, but rather that one- [accept his death, when we died in Christ Jesus on the Cross], deny one’s own will–power, self–will, strength, ability, his own desires and conveniences- but, depending totally on Christ [the New Creation Man]), and take up his cross (cleaving steadfastly to the benefits of the Cross, looking exclusively to what Jesus did there to meet our every need) daily (this is so important, our looking to the Cross; that we must renew our Faith in what Christ has done for us , even on a daily basis, for Satan will ever try to move us away from the Cross as the object of our Faith, which always spells disaster), and follow Me ([conforming wholly to Christ’s example in living and, if need be, in dying also] meanwhile, Christ can only be followed as we look {through the Life of Christ, that we received when He resurrected from the Cross- the Sweet fragrance of Christ, which exhales unto God, “by Faith” understanding what it accomplished there for us, and by that means alone (Rom. 6:3-5, 11, 14; 8:1-2,11; 1Cor. 1:17 – 18, 21, 23; 2:2 Gal. 6:14; Eph. 2;13-18; Col. 2:14-15). Vs.24, For whosoever will save his life shall lose it ([insist on keeping his life], or try to live one’s life outside of Christ and the Cross, will lose and destroy it): but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it ([from the penalty of eternal death], when we place our Faith entirely in Christ and the Cross, looking exclusively to Him, we have just found “more abundant life” [Jn. 10:10]). 9
  • 10. THE CROSS Rom.6:3-11, Vs. 3- Know you not, that so many of us as were baptised into Jesus Christ ([sin’s power over us was broken, as we were Baptised to become a part of Jesus Christ and became Christians], emphatically, this Baptism is into Christ and not water 1Cor.1:17-18; 12:12-13; Gal.3:26-27; Eph.4:4-6; Col.2:10– 15- Check the Living Bible) were baptised into His Death? (In the heart of God, we were buried [baptised] with Christ Jesus, and lay dead, for a purpose. [i.e. we died with Him; He became our Substitute, and our identification with Him in His Death gives us all the benefits for which He died]; through His Death, the power of our sinful nature, was shattered, for- He did it all for us) ! . Vs.4, Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death (not only did we die with Him, our Old Man, entirely all that we were, before the operation of the Cross, the sin-loving nature was buried with Him by Baptism when He died as well, and lay dead, i.e. all the sin and transgressions of the past were buried; when they put Him in the Tomb, they put all of our sins into the Tomb as well): that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life (we died with Him, we were buried with Him, in other that, just as Christ was raised from the dead in the splendour of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and set our feet upon the new path of life Rom.5:20- 21, 6;10 , that is to say, His Resurrection was our Resurrection to a “Newness of Life”). Vs.5, For if we have been planted together (if we “activate it by Faith” and have become a part of Christ [ i.e. incorporate with Him in a death like His ]) in the likeness of His death (and now you share His new life i.e. the Cross is the instrument through which all Blessings come [The New Creation Life Experience, which is, our exchange of Life at the Cross ]; consequently, the Cross must ever be the Object of our Faith, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work within our lives), we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection (we can have the “likeness of His Resurrection,” i.e. “live this Resurrection Life- New Creation Life,” [a new life lived for God], only as long as we understand the “likeness of His Death,” which refers to the Cross as the means by which all of this is achieved): Vs.6, Knowing this, that our old (untameable) man is Crucified with Him (all that we were before Conversion), that the body of sin might be destroyed (our old evil desires were nailed to the Cross with Him; that part of you that loves to 10
  • 11. sin was crushed Hed.10:1-39, specifically verse 9 in the Old Living Bible- In order that [our] body {which is the instrument of sin, might be made ineffective and inactive for evil} that is, the power of sin is broken- which is, that part of you that loves to sin), that henceforth we should not serve sin (the guilt of sin is removed at conversion, because the sin nature no longer rules within our hearts and lives). Vs.7, For he who is dead (He was our Substitute, and in the Mind of God, we died with Him upon Believing Faith), is freed (loosed, delivered) from sin (set free from the allure, power and bondage of sin nature [among men]). Vs.8, Now if we be dead with Christ (by Believing Faith in the accomplished Victory on the Cross, and our being Baptised into His Death, [ i.e since your old sin-loving nature “died” with Christ] by Faith), we believe that we shall also live with Him (have Resurrection Life, the [New Creation Life], which is more Abundant Life, i.e. we know that, you will share Christ’s Life [Jn. 10:10]): Vs.9, Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more (His Work was a Finished Work, and will require nothing else); death has no more dominion over Him (because all sin has been Atoned ; inasmuch as Christ is our Substitute, since death has no more dominion over Him, it has no more dominion over us; this means that the power of the sin nature is broken [Rom.6:4; 7:6;]). Vs.10, For in that He died, He died unto sin (the sin nature) once (ending His relation to it, once and for all]): but in that He lives (the Resurrection [the New Creation Life]), He lives unto God (i.e. all life comes from God, and we receive that life [in unbroken fellowship with Him], by virtue of the Cross and our Faith in that Finished Work). Vs.11, Likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin (In the same way, consider and look upon your old sinful nature as dead and unresponsive to sin and your relation to it broken; while the sin nature is not dead, we are dead unto the sin nature by virtue of the Cross and our faith in that Sacrifice, however, it would work for us, only as long as our Faith continues in the Cross [in Thought Utterances and Action]), but alive unto God (living the Resurrection Life, in unbroken fellowship with Him [ alert to him], in union with Jesus Christ our Lord ) through Jesus Christ our Lord (refers to what He did at the Cross which is the means of this Resurrection Life [The New Creation Life]). 11
  • 12. THE STRUGGLE AGAINST SIN Rom. 7: 7 – 25, The Living Bible, Well then, am i suggesting that these laws of God are evil? Of course not ! No, the law is not sinful but it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known the sin in my heart – the evil desires that are hidden there – if the law had not said, “You must not have evil desires in your heart.” Rom. 7: 8, The Living Bible, But sin used this law against evil desires by reminding me that such desires are wrong and arousing all kinds of forbidden desires within me! Only if there were no laws to break would there be no sinning. Rom. 7: 9, The Living Bible, That is why I felt fine so long as I did not understand what the law really demanded. But when I learned the truth, I realised that I had broken the law and I was a sinner, doomed to die. Rom. 7: 10, The Living Bible, So as far as I was concerned, the good law which was supposed to show me the way of life resulted instead in my being given the death penalty. Rom. 7: 11, The Living Bible, Sin fooled me by taking the good laws of God and using them to make me guilty of death. Rom. 7: 12, The Living Bible, But still, you see, the law itself was wholly right and good. Rom. 7: 13, The Living Bible, But how can that be? Didn’t the law cause my downfall? How then can it be good? No, it was sin, devilish stuff that it is, that used what was good to bring about my condemnation. So you can see how cunning and deadly and damnable it is. For it uses God’s good laws for its own evil purposes. Rom. 7: 14, The Living Bible, The law is good, then, and the trouble is not there but with me, because I am sold into slavery with sin as my owner. Rom. 7: 15, The Living Bible, I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I can’t. I do what I don’t want to- what I hate. Rom. 7: 16, The Living Bible, I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong, and my bad conscience proves that I agree with these laws I am breaking. Rom. 7: 17, The Living Bible, But I can’t help myself, because I am no longer doing it, It is sin inside me that is stronger than I am that makes me do these evil things. 12
  • 13. Rom. 7: 18, The Living Bible, I know I am rotten through and through so far as my old sinful nature is concerned. No matter which way I turn I can’t make myself do right. I want to but I can’t. Rom. 7: 19, The Living Bible, When I want to do good, I don’t; and when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway. Rom. 7: 20, The Living Bible, Now if I am doing what I don’t want to, it is plain where the trouble is : sin still has me in its evil grasp. Rom. 7: 21, The Living Bible, It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. Rom. 7: 22, The Living Bible, I love to do God’s will so far as my new nature is concerned; Rom. 7: 23, The Living Bible, but there is something else deep within me, in my lower nature, that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. In my mind I want to be God’s willing servant but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin. So you see how it is : my new life tells me to do right, but the old nature that is still inside me loves to sin. Rom. 7: 24, The Living Bible, Oh, what a terrible predicament I’m in ! Who will free me from my slavery to this deadly lower nature? Rom. 7: 25, The Living Bible, Thank God ! It has been done by Jesus Christ our Lord. He has set me free. KJV Version of the Above Scriptures, for Deeper Understanding, Which Forms the Pivot of a Right Premise, for our Salvation: Rom. 7:7 – 25 KJV, What shall we say then ? (In verses 1 through 6 of this Chapter, Paul has shown that the Believer is no longer under Law; in the remainder of the Chapter, he shows that a Believer putting himself under Law, thus failing to avail himself of the resources of Grace, is a defeated Christian). Is the Law sin? God forbid (man’s predicament is not caused by the Law of God, for the Law is Holy; rather it is exposed). No, I had not known sin, but by the Law (means that the Law of Moses defined what sin actually is, but gave no power to 13
  • 14. overcome sin) : For I had not known lust, except the Law had said, You shall not covet (tells us that the desire for what is forbidden is the first conscious form of sin; this is the sin nature at work)! Rom. 7:8, KJV, But sin (the sin nature), taking occasion by the Commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence (“concupiscence” is “evil desire” i.e. if the Believer attempts to live for God by means other than through [our death “by Faith” with Christ on the Cross and the resultant “Resurrection Life”, which we received when God the Father raised Jesus from the death], he will be ruled by “evil desires” and no matter how dedicated he might be, he will not be able to stop the process in that manner, with it getting worse and worse). For without the Law sin was dead (i.e. the Laws of Moses fully, exposed what was already in man’s heart; that’s one of the reasons God gave the Law). Rom. 7:9, KJV, For I was alive without the Law once (Paul is referring to himself personally and his conversion to Christ; the Law, he states, had nothing to do with that conversion; neither did it have anything to do with his life in Christ): but when the Commandment came (having just being saved, and not understanding the Cross of Christ, he tried to live for God by keeping the Commandments through his own strength and power; in his defence, no one else, as yet understood the Cross; infact, the meaning of the Cross, which is actually the New Covenant, was yet given to Paul), sin revived (the sin will always, without exception, revive under such circumstances, which result in failure), and I died (he did not die physically, but, that he died to the Commandment, in other words, he failed to obey no matter how hard he tried; which is a lesson to all Believers that, if Paul the Apostle couldn’t live for God in this manner, neither can we)! Rom. 7:10, KJV, And the Commandment, which was ordained to life (refers to the Ten Commandments), I found to be unto death (means that the Law revealed the sin, as it always does, and its wages which are death; in order words, there is no victory in trying to live by the Law; we are to live by Faith, referring to Faith in Christ and the Cross). Note: verses 11 – 25 may be email to you, if necessary! 14
  • 15. LIFE IN THE SPIRIT Rom.8:1-2, 11, 14, 17-19 and 35. There is therefore now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) to them which are in Christ Jesus (i.e. those in whom Rom.6:3-5 and our being Baptised into His Death has being effective, and the resultant Resurrection, into Newness of life), who walk not after the flesh (awaitingthose who live and walk not after the dictates of the flesh, nor depending on one’s personal strength and ability or great religious efforts in order to overcome sin), but after the Spirit (but, after the Dictates of the Spirit [the Holy Spirit works exclusively within the legal confines of the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross]; our Faith in that Finished Work, i.e., “the Cross,” guarantees the help of the Holy Spirit, which in turn, guarantees Victory). Rom.8:2, For the Law (the power of the life giving Spirit [1Pet. 1:18-20]; God’s Prescribed Order of Victory”) of the Spirit of life (Jn. 16:13-14) in Christ Jesus (the Law of our New Being) has made me free (has delivered me from the vicious circle and given me total Victory) from the Law of sin and death (these are the two most powerful Laws in the whole Universe; the “Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” by far Supersedes the “Law of Sin and Death”; i.e. if the Believer attempts to live for God by any manner other than Faith in Christ and the Cross, he is sure to fail). CONTRAST Rom.8:11, But if the Spirit of Him (of God) who raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you (then), He who raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (restore to life) your (short-lived perishable) mortal bodies (give us power in our mortal bodies that we might live a victorious life [He will make your dying bodies live again]) by His Spirit Who dwells in you (we have the same power in us, through the Spirit , that raised Christ from the dead, and is available to us only on the premise of the Cross and our Faith in that Sacrifice). 15
  • 16. DELIVERANCE Rom.8:14, For as many as are led by (i.e. only those who are led by God’s Spirit are His Children; hence, [why it is written], Christ in your hearts is your only hope of glory- the Spirit of God (through the Cross), they are the sons of God Col.1:27b). Rom.8:17, And if children (God’s Children), then heirs; heirs of God (sharing Christ’s inheritance with Him), and joint-heirs with Christ (all that belongs to Christ, belongs to us through the Cross which, includes His suffering); if so be that we suffer with Him (going forth therefore unto Him without the camp, with readiness to bear His reproach-Heb.13:13 and 2Cor. 4:8-12), that we may be also glorified together (if we share His sufferings now [through the Finished Work of Christ, on the Cross], in order to share His splendour hereafter). Rom.8:18, For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time (as concerns the world and its condition because of the Fall) are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (our glory will be a reflective glory, coming from Christ). Rom.8:19, For the earnest expectation of the creature (creation), waits (expectantly and longs earnestly), for the manifestation of the sons of God (longs for the revealing, the disclosing of their son-ship). Rom.8:35, Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ? (as concerns the Love of Christ for the Believer ) shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (i.e. when we are hunted down or destroyed, is it because He doesn’t love us anymore? If we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death! [Sufferings or Death, does not and should not, {normally}, separate genuine Believers from the love of Christ} but, actually carry them along towards their ultimate goal, for, it is actually glorious and the greatest privilege, if counted worthy to suffer or die for Christ- Rom.8:17; 2Tim.2:12; 3:12; 1Pet.2:21], however, these cannot be achieved by our own will power, self will, strength, nor ability, we must depend totally on Christ, looking exclusively to what Jesus did on the Cross, to meet our every need, even on a daily bases). 16
  • 17. THE DISTINCTION Rom.9: 8-18, That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the Children of God (it is not the children of the body [flesh],of Abraham, who are made God’s children [i.e. they are not Children of God, just merely because they are Jews]): but the Children of the Promise are counted for the seed ([Gal.3:16], it is the Children Born through God’s Promise {Who is Christ and ultimately His Victory through the Cross}), For further illustrational purposes,, it follows that- 1Pet.1:18-20; Vs.20, Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world (which is to say that God in His Omniscience, knew He would create man, man would fall, and would be redeemed by Christ going to the Cross: this was all done before the universe was created; i.e. the Cross of Christ is the foundational doctrine of Christianity, upon which every doctrine must spur from, else any form of Christianity, outside the premise of the Cross is specious and doomed to fail, but was manifest in these times for you (i.e. the invisible God Who in the Person of Jesus Christ [the Son], was made visible to human eyesight by assuming a human body and limitations). Vs.9, For this is the Word of Promise (activated by Faith), At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son ([the “Promise, that would figure into Christ ”] Gen.18:10). Vs.10, And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived (two sons under exactly the same circumstances) by one, even by our father Isaac (indicating here that, Salvation is not obtained nationalistically); Vs.11, (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil (Esau and Jacob), that the purpose of God according to election might stand (and, due to God’s foreknowledge), not of works, but of Him Who calls; (even so, in order- further to carry out God’s purpose of selection [election, choice, which depends not on works or what men can do, but on Him Who calls “them”], this, signifying and exemplifying the entire basis of God’s dealings with men, and His manner of operation). Vs.12, It was said unto her (found in Gen. 25:21-23), The Elder shall serve the younger (before Rebekah’s children were born, God made a choice- a choice obviously not based on works). Vs.13, As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated (held in relative disregard in comparison with My feeling for Jacob [Mal.1:2-3]). 17
  • 18. Vs.14, What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid (i.e. God through foreknowledge knows the attitude of the two boys, which reflects His election). Vs.15, For He said to Moses, I will have Mercy on whom I will have Mercy, and I will have Compassion on whom I will have Compassion (Ex.33:19). Vs.16, So then (God’s gift) it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs (It depends not on ones own willingness, nor his strenuous exertion as in running a race), but on God having Mercy on him. Vs.17, For the Scripture said unto Pharaoh (Ex.9:16), even for this same purpose have I raised you up (here the Lord is using what’s available, and not forcing the issue upon Pharaoh i.e.; God did not predestine Pharaoh to rebel), that I might show my Power in you, and that my Name might be declared throughout all the earth (as stated, God used the stubbornness of Pharaoh’s own choice, to glorify His Name – God’s Name). Vs.18, Therefore has He Mercy on whom He will have Mercy (God will always have Mercy on those who meet His Conditions), and whom He will He hardens (stubbornness towards God will be met with God forcing the issue by providing the setting which will make the heart even harder ; in other words, if one wants hardness, one will get hardness). CONSECRATION Rom.12: 1-2, I beseech you therefore, Brethren (I appeal to you and beg you), by the Mercies of God, that you present your bodies a Living Sacrifice ( presenting all your members and faculties [your Thoughts, Utterances and Actions], and through the Finished and acceptable Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross- which is only Obtainable, when our Faith is placed strictly in Christ and the Cross, which then gives the Holy Spirit latitude to carry out this great work within our lives), holy (that which the Holy Spirit Alone, can do), acceptable unto God (Actually Means- a Holy Physical Body ; i.e. “A Temple,“ is all that He will accept), which is your reasonable service (reasonable if we look to Christ and the Cross; otherwise impossible) ! Vs.2, And be not conformed to this world (adapted to its external, superficial customs): but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (we must think spiritually, which refers to the fact that everything is furnished to us through the Cross and is obtainable by Faith and not works), that you may prove what is 18
  • 19. that good (is put to the test and finds that the thing tested meets the specifications laid down), and acceptable, and perfect, Will of God (presents that which the Holy Spirit is attempting to bring about within our lives, and can only be obtained by ever making the Cross the Object of our Faith). WISDOM 1Cor.1:17-18 For Christ sent me not to baptise, but to Preach the Gospel (the manner in which one may be Saved from sin [ i.e. through the exchange of Life at the Cross]): not with wisdom of words (intellectualism or the language of worldly wisdom, is not the Gospel), lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect (This tells us in no uncertain terms that- the Cross of Christ must always be the emphasis of the Message, so that the fact of Christ on His Cross might have its full weight). Vs.18, For the Preaching (Word) of the Cross is to them who perish foolishness (Spiritual things cannot be discerned by unredeemed people [ its sheer folly ], but that doesn’t matter; the Cross must be Preached just the same); but unto us which are saved it is the Power of God. (The Cross is the Power of God simply because it was there that the total sin debt was paid, giving the Holy Spirit, in Whom the Power resides, latitude to work mightily within our lives). ONE BODY 1Cor.12:13, For by one Spirit (the Holy Spirit Alone does this) are we all baptised into one Body (at Salvation; the Holy Spirit Baptises the Believing sinner into the Body of Christ [ we were all make up of one body ], which is the Born-Again experience; it doesn’t refer to Water Baptism), whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free (all must come in the same manner, “by and through Jesus Christ and what He did for us at the Cross”); and have been all made to drink into one Spirit ( [in the one Spirit ] The Holy Spirit is the agent Who affects the work of Redemption carried out in our lives, which is made possible by the Death, Burial, Resurrection, Ascension, and Exaltation of Christ). THE HELPER Jn.14:20, At that day (after the Resurrection, and the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost) you shall know that I am in my Father (speaks of Deity; Jesus is God!), and you in Me (has to do with our Salvation by Faith [subsequently, the Cross must ever be the Object of our Faith, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work within our lives ]), and I in you (enables us to live a victorious life, through the Cross [Gal. 2:20-21]). 19
  • 20. JUSTIFICATION Gal. 2:20-21 I am Crucified with Christ (as the Foundation of all Victory; Paul, here, takes us back to Rom. 6:3-5): nevertheless I live (have new life): yet not I (not by my own strength and ability because, the life i now live is not my life), but Christ lives in me ([but, the life which Christ lives in me, which means, the Kingdom of God is in me and i am sited with Him in Heavenly places ], by virtue of me dying with Him on the Cross, and being raised with Him in newness of life): and the life which I now live in the flesh (my daily walk before God) I live by the Faith of the Son of God (the Cross is ever the Object of my Faith, [ and the real Life i now have within this body is a result of my trusting in the Son of God]), Who loved me, and gave Himself for me (which is the only way that I could be saved). Vs.21, I do not frustrate the Grace of God (if we make anything other than the Cross of Christ [i.e. the evacuation of life at the Cross], the Object of our Faith, we frustrate the Grace of God, which means we stop its action, and the Holy Spirit will no longer help us) : for if Righteousness come by the Law (any type of Law, [ for if we could be saved by keeping Jewish laws ]) then Christ is dead in vain (If i can successfully live for the Lord by any means other than Faith in Christ and the Cross, then the Death of Christ was a waste). FAITH Gal.3:27, For as many of you as have been baptised into Christ (Baptised into union with Him, refers to the Baptism into His Death at Calvary [Rom.6;3-5]; the reference is not to Water Baptism) have put on Christ (i.e. to be clothed with Him [Jn. 14:20]). VICTORY Gal.5:16-18, This I say then, Walk (order your behaviour) in the Spirit (we do so by placing our Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross, through which the Spirit works exclusively [Rom.8:1-2]), and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (This proves the existence of the sin nature, vehemently attempting to course [even a Believer’] fall). It declares the consciousness of corrupt desires. As stated, the only way to not fulfil the lust of flesh is for our Faith to be placed exclusively in the Cross). Vs.17, For the Flesh (in this case, evil desires) lusteth against the Spirit (is the opposite of the Holy Spirit), and the Spirit against the flesh (it is the Holy Spirit alone, who can subdue the flesh; He does so, as repeatedly stated, by our Faith being placed exclusively in the Cross): and these are contrary the one to the other (these two can never harmonise; as Paul has stated, the old nature must be cast out, which 20
  • 21. the Holy Spirit Alone can do): so that you cannot do the things that you would. (Without the Holy Spirit, Who works by the Cross, the Believer cannot live a Holy life). Vs.18, But if you be led of the Spirit, you are not under the Law. (One cannot follow the Spirit and the Law at the same time, but regrettably that’s what most modern “Christians” are attempting to do. Unless one properly understands the Cross as it regards Sanctification, one cannot be properly “led of the Spirit” Who works exclusively within the framework of the Finished Work of Christ). SPIRITUAL LIFE Vs. 24, And they who are Christ’s have Crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (This can be done only by the Believer understanding it was carried out by Christ at the Cross and our being “Baptised into His Death” [Rom.6:3-5]. That being the case; and as repeatedly stated, the Cross must ever be the Object of our Faith, which alone will bring about these result). Eph. 4:5, One Lord (Jesus Christ), one Faith (what He did at the Cross), one Baptism (our Salvation, referring to Believers Baptised into Christ, which was done at the Cross; it has nothing to do with Water Baptism [Rom. 6; 3-5]), THE GIFT OF CHRIST Eph.4:8-9, 15-16, 22-24, 31-32 Wherefore He said (Ps. 68:18), When He ascended up on high (the Ascension ), He led captivity captive (liberated the souls in Paradise; before the Cross, despite being Believers, they were still held captive by Satan because the blood of bulls and goats could not take away the sin debt; but when Jesus died on the Cross, the debt was paid, and now He makes all of these His Captives), and gave Gifts unto men. (These “Gifts” include all the attributes of Christ, all made possible by the Cross). Vs.9, (Now that He ascended (mission completed), what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? (Immediately before His Ascension to Glory, He first went down into Paradise to deliver all the believing souls in that region, which He did). Vs.15, But speaking the Truth in Love (powerfully proclaiming the Truth of the Cross, but always with Love), may grow up into Him in all things (proper Spiritual Growth can take place only according to proper Faith in the Cross [ 1Cor.1:21, 23; 2:2]), which is the Head , even Christ (Christ is the Head of the Church, and is such by 21
  • 22. virtue of the Cross): Vs.16, From Whom (Christ Jesus) the whole body (Christ as the Head, and the Church as the body) fitly joined together (presents the foot in the place it ought to be, and the eye in its proper place etc.) and compacted by that which every joint supplies (one part is dependent on the other), according to the effectual working in the measure of every part (every part labours to produce a great result), making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love (building itself up; will happen when we function according to God’s Prescribed Order [which comes by grace], which is the unity of the Faith; again, refers to a proper understanding of the Cross). MORAL STANDARDS Vs.22, That you put off (which can be done only by proper understanding of the Cross and placing one’s Faith exclusively in the Cross) concerning the formal conversation (i.e. concerning the formal manner of life) the old man (refers to the unsaved person dominated by the totally depraved nature [Rom. 6:6]), which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts (the unsaved person is subject to a continuous process of corruption, which grows worse as time goes on)*; Vs.23, And be renewed (a continuous act of cleansing, which is made manifest, even as we learn of Him through His Word Daily) in the spirit of your mind (has to do with the human will; the mind of the Believer must be pulled from a dependence on self, to a total dependence on Christ, which can only be done by making the Cross, ever the Cross, the Object of one’s Faith [Rom. 12:1-2])*; Vs.24, And that you put on the new man (we are created a “new man” by virtue of being Baptised into His Death, Buried with Him by Baptism into Death, all speaking of the Crucifixion, and being Raised with Him in “newness of life” [Rom.6:3-5]), which after God is created in Righteousness and true Holiness (This is what the “new man” is supposed to be, and what ha can be, but only by reckoning himself to be dead indeed unto the sin nature [which was done at the Cross], but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord [Rom.6:11]). Vs.31, Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice (achieved, as the Believer puts his Faith in the Cross and keeps his Faith in the Cross, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work, these evil things can then be “put away” from our lives, [operationally, as the Holy Spirit, prompts the Believers heart to make amend ”], which, is then, ultimately achieved by prayer, with our Faith consistently, in the Cross, and knowing that 2Cor.4:10-12 and Heb.13:13 takes there turn in the Believers live)!* Col. 2: 11-15, Vs.11, In Whom also you are circumcised with the Circumcision made without hands (that which is brought about by the Cross [Rom.6:3-5], not in a 22
  • 23. physical sense), in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the Circumcision of Christ ( by being divested of the lower nature, which is Christ’s way of circumcision and refering to the old carnal nature that is defeated by the Believer placing his Faith totally in the Cross, which gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work, [i.e. when you came to Christ- activating by faith what He accomplished for us at the Cross, He set you FREE from your evil nature and its desires, not by a bodily operation of circumcision but, by a spiritual operation, the Baptism of your souls into Christ]): Vs.12, Buried with Him in Baptism, (does not refer to Water Baptism, but rather to the Believer baptised into the death of Christ, which refers to the Crucifixion and Christ as our substitute [Rom. 6:3-4], i.e. in Baptism, your old evil nature died with Him and was buried with Him). Wherein also you are risen with Him through the Faith of the operation of God, Who has raised Him from the dead (This does not refer to our future physical Resurrection, but to that spiritual Resurrection from a sinful Nature into Divine Life. We died with Him, we are buried with Him, and we rose with Him [Rom.6:3-5], and herein lies the secret to all spiritual victory, which means. you came out of death with Him into a New Life, because you Trusted the Word of the ALMIGHTY GOD who raised Christ from the dead). Vs.13, KJV, And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh (speaks of spiritual death, [i.e., “separation from God”], which sin does) has He quickened together with Him ( refers to being made spiritually alive, which is done through being “Born-Again” , [meaning, then, He gave you a share in the very Life of Christ]), having forgiven you all trespasses (the Cross made it possible for all manner of sins to be forgiven and taken away); Vs.13, Old Living Bible, You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away (speaks of spiritual death [i.e., “separation from God” ], which sin and sin Nature does). Then He gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for He forgave all your sins (the Cross made it possible for all manner of sins to be forgiven, taken away and the sin Nature cut off), Vs.14, KJV, Blotting out the handwriting of Ordinances that was against us (pertains to the Law of Moses, which was God’s standard of Righteousness that man could not reach), which was contrary to us (Law is against us, simply because we are unable to keep its precepts, no matter how hard we try), and took it out of the way (refers to the penalty of the Law being removed), nailing it to His Cross (the Law with its decrees was abolished in Christ’s Death, Crucified with Him); Vs.14, OLB, and blotted out the charges proved against you (pertains to the Law of Moses, which was God’s standard of Righteousness that man could reach). He took this list of sins and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ Cross (the Law with its decrees was abolished in Christ Death, Crucified with Him). 23
  • 24. Vs.15, KJV, And having spoiled principalities and powers (Satan and all of his henchmen were defeated at the Cross by Christ Atoning for all sin; sin was the legal right Satan had to hold man in captivity; with all sin atoned, he has no more legal right to hold anyone in bondage), He (Christ) made a show of them openly (what Jesus did at the Cross was in the face of the whole universe), triumphing over them in it (The triumph is complete and it was all done for us, meaning we can walk in power and perpetual victory due to the Cross). Vs.15, OLB, In this way God took away Satan’s power to accuse you of sin (Satan and all of his henchmen were defeated at the Cross by Christ Atoning for all sin and the sin Nature; sin was the legal right Satan had to hold man in captivity; with ALL in atoned, he has no more legal right to hold any one in bondage). And God openly displayed to the whole world Christ’s triumph at the Cross- where your sins were all taken away (what Jesus did at the Cross was in the face of the whole universe- The triumph is complete and it was all done for us, meaning we can walk in power and perpetual victory due to the Cross). 24
