The Better Business Bureau is partnering with several local organizations to hold an on-site document shredding event in Pueblo, Colorado on August 12th. The event will allow residents to shred up to five boxes of documents for free to help protect themselves against identity theft. Donations collected at the event will go to the BBB Foundation to provide education resources to students who are often targeted by identity thieves.

BBB invites community to fight against identity theft.
PUEBLO, Colo., July 26, 2016 – The Better Business Bureau has partnered with Pueblo Downtown
Association, Ent Credit Union, KKTV Channel 11, 98.1 KKFM and Mobile Record Shredders for the
annual LETTER RIP shredding event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 12, at Sam’s Club parking
lot, 412 Eagleridge Blvd., Pueblo, 81008.
Last year, nearly 7,000 identity theft-related complaints were reported in Colorado, according to the
2015 Consumer Sentinel Report, conducted by the Federal Trade Commission.
Members of the greater Pueblo community are invited to participate in this event to help protect
themselves against identity theft.
Up to five boxes (standard copier paper sized box, 11” x 18” x 10.5”) or small bags of documents will
be shredded for free. Additional small or large boxes may be shredded for $5 or $10 each. All documents
should be removed from binders. X-Rays, CDs and floppy disks can be shredded but must be separated
from paper. Staples and paper clips may be left on documents.
Donations and funds collected from LETTER RIP go to BBB of Southern Colorado’s Foundation,
which provides free resources and education to students, a part of the community often targeted by
identity thieves.
Ent Credit Union’s sponsorship supports the community by donating money to BBB’s Foundation,
which awards high school scholarships and college fellowships to students in Southern Colorado.

that people protect themselves against identity theft, and this LETTER RIP event gives them the
opportunity to properly dispose of sensitive documents.”
