MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for SFC Brent E. Barr
1. I whole heartily endorse SFC Brent E. Barr for any future employment. As a Command Selected
Battalion Commander with 6 rotations to Afghanistan, I can state unequivocally that he is among the
most capable Center Level Leaders I have ever served with. His professionalism, experience, and
unlimited potential are above reproach. I strongly recommend him without reservation.
2. I have served as SFC Barr’s Battalion Commander since June 2013 and have had the privilege to
watch him serve and excel as a Center Leader. He has thrived in one of the toughest and most
challenging commands that anyone can find oneself in while leading Soldiers. Time and again,
despite the chaos sometimes caused navigating our own internal bureaucracy or more often caused
by recruiting the very best to serve in the United States Army, SFC Barr is without peer. Never
ruffled, never dispirited, and never failing to both inspire applicants and recruiters alike, He is the
ideal Army leader. SFC Barr is unique because not only is he supremely competent, he seeks out
opportunities to aggressively share information and develops his peers. He is the epitome of what the
Army is looking for in its Senior Leaders. If SFC Barr decides to continue his career in the Army I
have not a shred of doubt he will rise to the highest ranks. Any institution will be better with him is
in its ranks.
3. I rate SFC Brent E. Barr at the top of the list of the Soldiers that I have worked with in my 20
years as an officer in the United States Army. His intelligence, warrior ethos, and dedication place
him he will succeed brilliantly in any endeavor he undertakes.
