De-gifting
Sunday, December 26, 2004
A tie, a porcelain figurine, an old military phone. We've all received
gifts
for the holidays we didn't want to
keep.
Now there's a place in Tampa
that can help you get rid of it
without anyone finding out.
It's called de-gifting.
Brantley Smith is the owner of
BidWayUSA, a company that will
take your unwanted gifts, put
them on eBay and sell them for a
small fee.
He'll take any items that you don't have a gift receipt for. Even
those when you may be too embarrassed to ask for one.
Bring the item and a description of it to BidWayUSA at the
intersection of Hillsborough and Himes in Tampa and watch it sell
from your home computer. Then wait for a check to be sent to your
front door.
"We take the item on a consignment basis," Smith said
.
He then puts it on eBay with a seven-
day auction, sells it and takes only a
commission if the item sells.
BidWayUSA is a franchise. Many such businesses have popped up
across the country the past couple years.
Two additional BidWayUSA stores are planned for the Bay area. One
will be located in Clearwater, but there's no word on when the
stores could open.
BidWayUSA will sell your
unwanted gifts on e-Bay and pay
you for it.
Profit off those unwanted
gifts
