Bike Fans from around the world travel to Sturgis to
participate in the Motorcycle Rally. Although a large
and diverse group, they have more in common than
what they ride.
AGE: 31-50 Years
GENDER: 71% male; 28% Female
MARITAL STATUS: 58% Married; 31% Single
AVERAGE ANNUAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME: $40,000 to
$50,000
EDUCATION: 52% Graduated from a University or has
taken college level courses; 7% had post graduate
work.
WHERE THEY HAIL FROM: The Rally draws motorcy-
cle enthusiast from every region of the U.S. and 10
foreign countries.
LENGTH OF STAY IN STURGIS DURING RALLY: Only 12%
of participants are local; 39% stay 3-5 nights; 22% stay
3-9 nights
NUMBER OF TIMES ATTENDED RALLY: Motorcycle en-
thusiasts who attend the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally are
loyal as 42% had attended the Rally 10 to 30 times.
The Rally continues to draw new fans; however, as
19% were attending for the first time.
