2. Blake Doss
Blake Doss is currently the principal organist at First Presbyterian Church in Neenah,
Wisconsin, having previously served at First English Lutheran Church in Appleton,
Wisconsin. He has a lifelong passion for good music, both vocal and organ.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Luther College where he sang under
Weston Noble and studied organ under William Kuhlman. While there, Blake played
on Luther's magnificent Sipe mechanical-action organ for daily chapel services and for
Sunday worship services.
Doss earned a Master of Music degree in organ performance from Westminster Choir
College where he studied organ under recitalist Ken Cowan and sang in the
Westminster Symphonic Choir. Ken Cowan has performed twice at Shepherd of the
Bay on its Dobson Opus 79 mechanical-action organ and Blake Doss comes to us with
Mr. Cowan's recommendation.
Blake Doss is a member of the Northeastern Wisconsin chapter of the American Guild
of Organists and is an active member of New Voices, a semi-professional choir from
northeast Wisconsin. He has been a featured performer on the summer Lunchtime
Organ Recital series in the Fox Valley (Neenah/Menasha/Appleton) for ten years,
playing one concert on the magnificent Brombaugh organ at the Lawrence University
Memorial Chapel in Appleton.
This afternoon Mr. Doss will be joined by pianist Judith Jackson to perform music
written for organ and piano. The concert is offered free to the public and a reception
follows the performance.
A freewill offering will be accepted to support the musical programs
presented by the Concert Series at Shepherd of the Bay.
