This document provides an agenda and materials for a School of Leaders (SOL) meeting. The agenda includes Bible reflection, prayers, talks on doctrinal and technique topics, and a discussion. The leader's prayer focuses on having a spirit of sacrifice and maintaining charity. The techniques talk discusses the meaning of palanca as prayer and sacrifice rather than pleasant things. 3. Leaderâs Prayer
â Lord grant that we may understand the necessity for depth in our
Movement, rather than surface glory. Convince us of the truth
that colorful programs do not constitute success.
â My God, give us a spirit of self sacrifice so that we may offer
everything for Your cause: our time, our abilities, our health and
even our lives if necessary. Instill in us courage in our initiatives,
good judgment in our choice of the right means, and that
determination, which in spit of failures, assures victory.
â Move away from us the tiny rivalries, sensitivities, discourtesies,
pride, everything which distracts from You, everything which
divides or discourages.

4. Leaderâs Prayer conât
â Help us to maintain at a high level, a meaningful supernatural and
mutual charity among ourselves, so that each one will seek by
preference, the most humble task and will rejoice at the good
performed by others, so that all our spirits, united in a common
purpose, will have one single spirit, Yours Jesus, and that this
spirit may let us see Your attractive goodness marked in all our
faces, Your warm accents in all our words, and in our lives
something superior to the world, something that proclaims Your
Living Presence among us. Amen

7. Palanca
â Means lever, where we lift others up like a seesaw through our
prayer, Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Communion, Rosary,
reading Scripture, Stations of the Cross, Liturgy of the Hours,
Chaplet of Divine Mercy, visits to Blessed Sacrament, fasting,
almsgiving & any other acts of self denial offered with a prayer
â It is not colorful posters, banners, flowers, edibles, friendship
letters or good wishes. This is false Palanca, generally described as
pleasant things
â Palanca is not pleasant things, they are prayer and sacrifice

8. Questions for Discussion
â Palanca should be offered for every phase of the movement;
so if we offer letters to candidates, shouldnât we sent Palanca
letters to every member of the Cursillo? What is our real
intent with the Palanca bags?
â The weekend focuses on the individual metanoia. Why are we
introducing the community love via banners and Palanca in
the middle of the weekend?
â Community support should be shown at the Clausura

â Dear Lord, we must have fraternal charity, or we can accomplish
nothing for you.
â In loving you, help us to have a genuine concern for one another, a
generosity in sharing one anotherâs burdens, a gallantry in
defending the reputation of our group, a sincere sympathy in
sharing one anotherâs suffering and sorrows, and a joy in sharing

23. Purpose of the Ultreya
â The Ultreya oversees the good of the community
â It is a way for Cursillistas to meet other Cursillistas
â The floating group reunion is a intended for new Cursillistas
and veterans to share what is fundamental to being a
Christian
â The Ultreya unifies the movement; it nourishes the members
of the movement
â It has two periods: the floating group reunion and the
collective reunion with a witness speaker
â It facilitates new Cursillistaâs incorporation into the
community

24. Witness Speaker
â Speaker should share their experiences in what is fundamental to
being a Christian
â New Cursillistas are encouraged to be witness speakers
â 10-15 Minutes Max
â Witness talk is not instruction; it is a sharing of life experiences
â The speaker should be instructed beforehand so he/she will express
his/her ideas concretely in the allotted time
â The talk should be short, simple and enthusiastic

â Ultreyas should always end with a closing prayer
â Whenever possible, a visit to the Blessed Sacrament is
strongly encouraged

27. April SoL Bible Reading
â âIf your brother sins [against you], go and tell him his fault
between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have
won over your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two
others along with you, so that âevery fact may be established
on the testimony of two or three witnesses.â If he refuses to
listen to them, tell the church. If he refuses to listen even to
the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax
collector.

30. Sponsorship
â Sponsor Responsibilities:
â Give an authentic witness of the Christian life; be living the Movement
â Understand the Cursillo Movement at least in a general way
â Have read and agree to responsibilities in The Cursillo Movement
Sponsorâs Booklet
â Know the candidate as much as possible and pray for direction from
the Holy Spirit; talk to God before talking to Candidate
â Provide the Candidates as much information as possible
â Spark the desire for God in the candidate and make it grow
â Promote an attitude of conversion
â Take responsibility for preserving the candidate in the movement until
he/she is absorbed into the Cursillo Community
â Insure the Secretariat has all the relevant facts about the candidate
(Sponsor Form)

31. Sponsorship
â To sponsor a person, you need to know themâŚbe a friend
â Candidate must be ready to grow with Christ; weekend is NOT
a problem solving exercise
â Sponsor should be a salesperson for the Cursillo Methodology
â Sponsor must realize Candidate Applications are not complete
until candidate form, sponsor form and Pastor signature are
all together!
â Send data to Pre-Cursillo Chair electronically as heads up
â Then mail form to Cullman
â If you candidate canât go to the weekend, let the Pre-Cursillo
Chair know ASAP!
â Sponsor has primary mission of getting the new Cursillista to a
group, Ultreya and to the School of Leaders [at least once]!
