Garden City College has hosted the
magnificent flute performance
by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia
(Padma Vibhushan) and Dr. M.
Balamuralikrishna, who is a renowned
State level performer, in a music and
arts workshop organized by SPIC
MACAY (Society for the Promotion
of Indian Classical Music and Culture
Amongst Youth). It was held in the
auditorium from 28th Oct to 1st Nov,
2015.
Many students from different schools
and colleges participated in it.
Audience flowed from different parts
of Karnataka like Mysore, Hoskote
, Hassan, Heggadadevanakote, and
many other areas. The objective of the
event was to promote Indian classical
music in today’s youth. “It is a good
opportunity to learn something from
suchgreatpersonalities.It’sawonderful
experience,” said Naveen, a student
hailing from Mysore. Spectators and
listeners were enthralled with the
classical concert. Prof Manjunath M,
an admirer of Dr Balamuralikrishna
said, “I am very lucky to watch this
stage show. It gives a soothing feeling
to the heart.”
The programme was inaugurated by
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Former
president of the republic of Maldives.
The chief guests of the program was
Smt. Vyjayanthi Kashi (Kuchipudi
dancer), Yoga with Dr. Kiranseth, Shri
Subhomoy Bhattacharya, Shri Kaivalya
Kumar Gurav (Hindustani vocal), and
Shri Girish Kasaravalli (Director of
Kannada Cinema). Kurmavathara (
Kannada) movie was also shown to
the students and in the last day of the
program, all the students celebrated
Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Nature, with it’s scenic beauty in these
pictures says about how it’s wings are
spread across the lake.
Let us start with the man rowing the
boat, he is trying to pluck the fishes
from the lake and by doing that he
seeks pleasure. We can also see the
beautiful uprooted grass near the shore
of the lake which is grown properly.
The goats near the edge of the lake are
being hooked along by their master.
They are enjoying a walk near the
lake, few of them spread away and are
in search of food. Finally, they find
something eatable near a vehicle. A
lady kept some grass over there for the
goats and they are jumping onto it.
Sweet little creatures, these are birds,
a wonderful sight to us. Just look at
the way they are flying across the lake,
spreading their wings as if they want to
travel along with the blooming flowers.
There is a silence surrounding
this picture with emotions lying
underneath asking for freedom.

The Government makes changes to
the law by the Maharashtra Animal
Prevention Act, which banned the
slaughter of bull and bullocks as well.
Maharashtra government justified its
new beef ban law, before the Bombay
highcourtclaimingitwasa“reasonable
restriction”.Indeed it’s a controversial
issue. The state said that to protect
Maharashtra’s agrarian economy and
to prevent cruelty to animals the law
was brought into effect. Bombay high
court advised all parties not to make
this ban a religious issue.
In India where it has a rough estimate
of 176 million Muslims, banning beef
seemslikeanattackonthediversefood
culture of India as well as an attack
on religion. It is a sign of increasing
impingement of personal liberty
and democratic freedom. The whole
world eats beef, so there is nothing
wrong in eating it. Former Chairman
of The Press Council of India, Justice
Markandey Katju said “North Eastern
states of Nagaland, Mizoram,Tripura
where selling and eating beef is not
a crime”, he said that cow meat is
a source of cheap protein. People
who make a hue and cry against cow
slaughter are not at all bothered by the
suffering of tens of thousands of cows
which are not properly fed. Why these
cattle are left to fend for themselves
when they grow old and become
non-productive? Recent step by BJP
government to ban cow slaughter in
Maharashtra was politically motivated
one. Such bans are nowadays more for
political considerations than anything
else.

When Journalism
becomes an act of faith
Journalism is a field, which is wide
open with many avenues and
opportunities.Journalism will never
die as long as the world has news to
report and someone to report it to.
It’s an exciting and challenging career
because no day is the same as the next.
I’ve found a thirst of knowledge hidden
in me.Discoveries are round every
corner. What works, what doesn’t and
why; these questions are all around
in my mind from my childhood days.
When I was a kid, being a storyteller
was my dream career.In my school
days I’ve worked for my school
magazine also.A journalist should
have good communication skills as
well as they must have a keen interest
in people, facts and events around the
world. Most of the people put in a lot of
work to come out as the perfect person
they desire to be.
I believe working as a journalist is great
because it allows the opportunity to
explore the issues of how an industry,
economies and government agencies
works. A country like India has a lot
to be discussed politically as well as
socially.So, one need to look beyond
the glitz and glamour of being on
television or newspaper, as this career
seems like a look into the amount of
hard work, dedication, sincerity and
integrity.

Trying to write something for you,
But where to start is the confusion.
The moment I see you,
I love the way you smile at me.
Alike a crater on moon,
Your dimples show up the prettiest smile.
When you smile,
The dimples tempt me inside.
I crave to touch them at least once,
But the reality does not permit to.
I can make you smile,
Just to see your dimples.
Though it is an abnormality,
But it makes you ten times cuter.
I don’t know your every day schedule,
But I want you to smile everyday.
Because people with dimples,
Are made to make others smile.

Ring
It was that park where I used to play,
Which was from my house, just a stone’s throw away.
Every morning I would hop to that lil’ place,
Holding my mom’s finger with a smile on my face.
But only that day did I hear a loud noise there,
And turned around to see my mom who was not there.
She had returned to the park to fetch my hat,
That I had left there- where I sat.
Just a blasting sound and nothing to see,
Only clouds of smoke gathered behind me.
I ran back to search for my mother,
But saw only her ring and nothing further.
Nothing was left of her, but the ring and only the fingers,
With which she always used to nurse.
Like thousand others, her body got scattered here and
there,
And finally left me alone with nobody to care

As a lazy bear, 23 years have passed.

Even the centipede has millions of tasks to see,
How could God miss someone as important as me?
There is surely a task I was assigned,
Now it’s entirely on me, where, how and what to find.
To twist my nerves and get a Master’s degree
Or to serve others as a messenger?
I may not impress you intellectually,

The Better
IndiaAfter the Loksabha election of
2014, a revolution has started
in India and people are striving for
development. A lot of initiatives
have been undertaken by the Indian
government with a positive attitude.
Many yojnas for the poor has been
created that are being run by the
Government of India.
One such project is the Jan-Dhan
Yojna which will ensure access
to financial services like savings,
pensions, insurance and many others
in an affordable manner. The accounts
under this Yojna receives direct
subsidiary which leaves no scope for
corruption. Another such scheme is
the Atal Pension Yojna which provides
pension scheme for poor and middle
class families. The Skill Development
Program has been initiated to train the
youth as per their concerned jobs.
The Clean India Campaign or the
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan generated
a lot of public interest. This is one of
the most valuable scheme which is
being run by the government. This
Campaign focuses on keeping the
country clean which will in turn boost
the tourism sector of our nation.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is one of those
schemes which has gathered enormous
amount of support from the masses.
This scheme is for the welfare of the
girl child. It aims to educate them,
protect them & make our society a
better place to live in.
‘River Linking Project’- This particular
plan may prove to be extremely
beneficial as the government is
constantly battling farmer’s suicide.
Underthisinitiativemillionsoffarmers
will be benefitted. If implemented well,
this policy has the capability of solving
irrigation problems in many parts of
the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi
has been recognised as a visionary
leader on the world map now. It will
be interesting to witness how India
develops in the coming days under his
governance.

The days were so dull,
Until your presence did the mull.
I was waiting, waiting and waiting.
The first glimpse of the face of your,
And all my words became lour.
Now the bloomy aroma was all around
And I couldn’t even make a sound.
Your foremost word with a beam
It could have softened even the seam.
Melodious sound was rough at that time,
I was so into it that I couldn’t see even a line.
And I seek for a touch and headed forward,
The touch was so intense just like a sword.
Everything becomes trivial suddenly,
So I wanted to let the time stop very quickly.
