Inside the office building of the Luxembourg insurance company "Foyer", a glass patio not only provides sufficient daylight, but also a friendly and open atmosphere. The eye-catcher made of glass was designed as a prism opening upwards and captivates with filigree profiles and glass elements in XXL format. A circumferential joint between atrium and ceiling gives the glass body additional lightness and emphasises the special character of the glass "diamond" as an independent design element.

3. In order to achieve maximum
transparency, white glass was
used as the base glass for the
double insulating glass. The
elements, some of which were
supplied as moulded glass, were
assembled by hand at the Glas
Trösch site in Bützberg. While the
outer layer of the insulating glass
consists of laminated safety glass
with SentryGlas® foil, the inner
panes - consisting of four panes of
white glass - were provided with
the heat insulation coating
SILVERSTAR EN2plus. The
coating enables a comfortable
indoor climate while at the same
time saving on heating energy
costs.
4. Flawless cooperation, flawless result: Timo Neubrandt, Sales
Manager International, is responsible for the project
management. The project was also developed in close
cooperation with the Glas Trösch team from the Glass
Construction Department, headed by Bruno Kassnel-
Henneberg. The particular challenge here was to ensure that the
glazing was statically correct without exceeding a total thickness
of the composite package of 45 millimetres. By using a
permanently shear-resistant composite film, the insulated glass
could finally be dimensioned in such a way that the composite
meets all requirements in terms of statics, function and
aesthetics. The result speaks for itself: thanks to the good
cooperation and the rich pool of knowledge of the various
company divisions, the planning and realisation of the glass
atrium was quick and uncomplicated.
