1. Decorating Ideas for Leather Furniture
A lot of people love leather furniture (or at least one partner does) in either case they wonder how to
decorate a room with one or more pieces of leather furniture. Leather has a very rich unique look and
texture and the good news is it can be used in just about any room style. There’s leather furniture with a
very contemporary modern look, a lush elegant look, or a rather rustic look. Leather is also available in a
wider range of color than ever before—from basic black to creamy white.
But it can make a room look heavy and dull sometimes. It can also be a bit too masculine for a
woman’s taste. The quickest way to liven your leather furniture up is to add some color, some
pattern, and some personality to the room. First add color directly to your leather furniture with
colorful throws and decorative accent pillows. Add pillows in warm earthy colors of deep orange,
rust, browns, and greens to tan leather for a rich back to nature feel; bright colors such as
orange, gold, green, or lively blues and whites for an outdoorsy feeling. Or soft blues, light gray
and crisp whiles for a clean pristine look. For cream or white leather the sky’s the limit—brights
like yellow, bright blue, bright green, elegant contemporary purples and plums, earth colors, or
rose and blush shades. Red works for all leather colors. Don’t forget to add patterns to finish
waking up that leather sofa. Patterns are important since you have a very basic solid
background you need some contrast. Plaids can work for a casual or rustic look, floral for a
fresh appearance, contemporary geometrics or botanicals for a contemporary style sofa, add
personality with animal prints or inspirational word pillows for any style.
Finish with over-size floor pillows, wall hangings, richly textured rugs, and wall color. When
choosing wall color take your cue from your patterned pillows; choose one color from the pillow
that will be your paint color. Take the pillow to the paint store and they will be able to match it for
you. Painting may take you a few hours to complete but it will make an amazing difference to
your room.
Choose wall art that is colorful and in the right style and mood you want for your room. A large print on
a large wall can make a bigger impact than two or three small prints. Other accessories should be a few
knock them dead pieces rather than a lot of small knick-knacks. A large colorful vase with tall greenery,
or a large urn. Or you might want to consider a few large colorful pots with some large green plants.
Use you leather furniture as a starting point and build a fantastic room around it. If you don’t love your
leather, you soon will.
