Whateverbroughtyouhere,you alreadyhave a clue thatI am an Artist.What evenmyfriendsandfamilyprobably
don’tknowisthat I startedmy art career at the age of 9 years.I became the assistanttothe Artteacherin mygrammar
school.She wouldtake me outof classand letme helphercreate the bulletinboardsthroughoutthe school.
It was alsoaroundthat time thatI startedtakingart lessonseverySaturdaymorning. Iwasalsosignedupfor
Drama classes,butprovedtobe too shyto become anactress.You gotta go where the heartleads.
By the time I wasin HighSchool,I hadsignedupto take double art classes,andwasalsoa memberof the ArtClub
whichmetafterschool.I wonawardsin local art shows,andsolddrawingsandscreenprintedgreetingcardsatthe local
art festivals.Iwasfeaturedinthe local newspaperasa result.
I attendedcollege.IwenttoBostonUniversityfor3 semesters.TheyofferedFine Artscourses,andafterthe third
semesterIdecidedthatthere wasnoreal financial future asa fine artist.One of myclasseswascalledSurface Design,
and I loveditsomuch that I got an “A+”. The teachersaidthat if he couldgive a highergrade tome,he would.Thatwas
my firsttaste of what eventuallybecame Textile Design.
I laterwenton to duCret School of the Arts inPlainfield,NJwhere Ihappilymajored inTextile Designandother
commercial artclasses.I lovedphotographyandhadmyowndarkroom.I won awardsfromcompetitionsatthe local
camera clubwhichI had joined.
I graduatedfrom duCret,secondinmyclass, onlybecause the Deanof the school gave me a “C” in painting,and
whenI askedhimwhy,he toldme that there were toomany“A’s”. Whatever,mytalentwasevidentnomatterhow
many“A’s” there were.Andbythe way,that was the first“C” I had everreceived.
I became a Textile Designer.Ispentthe daymixingcolors,painting,creatingnew designs,andputtingdesignsinto
repeat.Ilovedthe jobso much,if I didn’tneedthe moneytosurvive,Iwouldhave done itforfree.Iwas trustedwith
the responsibilityof goingtothe mill where the fabricswere printedtoensure thatthe fabricswere true tothe original
design.Icontinuedwiththatcareeruntil ImovedtoArizona,where Iwentbackto school to learnComputerGraphics
and MultimediaProduction.Ilearnedwebdesign,andbecame awebdesigner.
I lovedthatjob,too,and was heartbrokenwhenthe companyIworkedforwentoutof businessafteronly2years.
I wenton tobuilda businesswithmyhusband.We heldseminarstopresentfinancial productstothe Senior
market,andI createdall the marketingmaterials, didwebsite maintenance,andprovidedadministrativesupport.After
twelve yearswe are nowbothexploringnew horizons.
I mightalsomentionthatI have a patentedinventionforalampshade dressingkit,andanotherinventionthatis
beingconsideredformanufacture forthe Home ShoppingNetwork.
As to whatkindof personI’ve become,well,I’mcompassionate aboveall.Ibelievekindness isthe onlywayto treat
people,and Ibelieveinhavingpersonalboundaries.I’mintuitiveand empathic, andIneverstoplearningandimproving
my skillsasanartist.
