1. Dear Fill-In-Your-Name-Here,
It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again!
Doesn’t time go quickly when you’re enjoying
yourselves? And we’re having the best time at
Chez Barrington-Smythe.
Earlier in the year, Colin won the lottery (more
than $20 million) and we’re now financially
independent. In June, we learnt we’d inherited
a Georgian country house in England from one
of Colin’s elderly aunts, so young Edward, who
is off to England on a Rhodes scholarship, will
count the family silver for us and have the art
works valued.
Little Elizabeth-Anne has taken out the
University medal in neurosurgery while working
part-time as a fashion model.
Justin’s rock band has a hit single and he
anticipates a perfect score in VCE. By the way,
his first book (he scribbled away at it during study
breaks) is due out soon.
This year, I completed my 2657th decoupage
project, a master’s degree in early Cambodian
music and - whew! – my aerobic instructor’s
certificate.
The Barrington-Smythe home is undergoing a few
changes too. Colin has bought all the houses
on our street and had them bulldozed. Work on
the gazebo, pool house, games room complex,
stables (with horses) and tennis courts (with
yummy 26-year-old tennis pro), starts next week.
The council rejected the 12 metre outdoor movie
screen. I suppose we shouldn’t complain.
But we will.
Best wishes,
Cecilia, Colin, Edward, Elizabeth-Anne and Justin.
PS. Do write back and tell us what you’ve been
up to all year.
You must have done something!
