Abstract Prize Day - Organized by Dr Ayman Ewies

1. This is an opportunity for you to submit research abstracts, and the winners will present to a panel of expert and
compete for 3 monetary prizes of £250, £150 and £100. Your name will also be inscribed on a solid oak plaque in
the Postgraduate Centre of Birmingham City Hospital for future generations to see.
Description of the event:
-You submit an abstract of original research, meta-analysis, large significant audit project, etc. (case reports and
literature reviews are not accepted).
-A panel of experts will select the best 10 abstracts for presentation.
-The scoring will be for the contents (i.e. scientific value), presentation skills, and handling questions.
-The best 3 will get the prizes, and every participant (only if attends on the day) will get a certificate.
Aim: To encourage research in obstetrics, gynaecology and gynaecological oncology, and help improving
presentation skills amongst trainees.
Target Participants: All Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees (including GPVTS and FY) across
West Midlands deanery.
Roles for abstract submission:
1. The attached form should be used for submission–Please strictly follow the instructions on the form.
2. Every candidate may submit up to 3 abstracts.
3. The submitted abstracts should not have been published in medical journals.
Roles for presentation:
1. Should be on power point.
2. Should be 6 minutes long (you will be stopped if you talk longer) + 2 minutes for questions.
