Executive summary:
This report is about my internship that I done at CIIT Islamabad from 30th June to 4th September
2015.The main drive is to learn by undertaking responsibility and doing work in dynamic
environment and the application of this knowledge in a practical work in order to handle and
resolve the problems related to the organization. One of the main purpose of this report is to
provide details related to my internship program done at CIIT Islamabad and I also share my
practical and learning experience of CIIT Islamabad with my instructors and other students
including my class fellows. This internship report is divided in to different sections.
CIIT internship program is well organized. And I can say that having started out as an intern, which
clearly gives me power on the focus, before joining CIIT student affair as an internee. The
internship program is announced for those students for which it is convenient to manage time, for
me it is very convenient because I am hostel elite. It is about 4 week internship program announced
by the CIIT. I choose CIIT internship program because as a host elite student easy for me to
manage comparatively doing internship at another organizations. Another reason behind choosing
that organization is that the faculty members and staff are all supportive, they also rotate job of
internee at student affair center of CIIT.
The introduction of CIIT Islamabad is mentioned in the first part of report in which I mentioned
the golden history of CIIT and as well as CIIT Islamabad campus, vision, mission, and core values
and goals. Second part of internship report includes the Business operations in this section I
discussed in detail CIIT Islamabad management, CIIT organization chart, administrative structure
and departments of CIIT Islamabad. The part three is related to the personal analysis in which I
mentioned the strength, weakness, opportunity and threats of CIIT Islamabad. Fourth part of this
report is about recommendations in which I give suggestion for improvement and promotional
strategies. The section five is about my learning experience during internship, in this section I have
discussed my responsibilities, an accomplishment, problems faced during duration of internship
program and the last parts includes experience and personal learning during this program. And at
the end I give conclusion about whole report.

CIIT has started its operations at 1998, and then it recognized its main campus at Islamabad on
April 1998.It is declared as a degree awarding institute by the federal government. CIIT have other
campuses at well other than Islamabad at Abbottabad, Lahore, Attock, Wah, Sahiwal and Vehari,
whereas more campuses are to open soon. CIIT is also trying to start its operations at the Gulf
Countries. Now CIIT is upgrading its name to COMSATS University and the work is in process
by parliament.
CIIT ranks in the number one in the degree of computer sciences and its ranks at the top positions.
It is offering the other degrees as well like EE Architecture and Design, Bio sciences, business
studies, physics and meteorology. They are available in both undergraduate and post graduate
levels.
The faculty of CIIT provides a healthy learning environment to students where both feels
motivated to learn more. The CIIT library is fully updated and also have the facility of e- library
as well. Digital library enables students and faculty to access online databases of journals and
research papers. The CIIT faculty is highly experiences and well qualified. CIIT also offers its
transport facility to students and hostel facility as well.
As an internee I performed many tasks at CIIT student affair center. As help desk operator I solved
queries of many students by creating token and it helps me a lot in improving communication skills
by interacting with students. As data entry operator I performed job by adding all relevant data of
students e.g. passing out students clearance, students who applied for Qarz-e- Hasna, the students
who applied for admissions, who applied for NTS test. As a call operator I performed job by
attending calls, solving queries and by sharing information about admissions of CIIT University
to those students and their parents who applied for admissions in CIIT Islamabad.

INTRODUCTION:
CIIT has started its operations at 1998, and then it recognized its first campus at Islamabad on

1.1- COMPANY BACKGROUND:
CIIT Islamabad initiated its drive in 1998 to encourage IT in order to decrease the gap
between the developed and underdeveloped nations. At is start, the Institute was offered
only a few certificate courses and a postgraduate diploma in computer sciences at minor
level. Islamabad Campus of CIIT is located at Chak Shahazad, Islamabad the CIIT is
working under the authority of The Commission on Science and Technology for
Sustainable Development in the South. Now CIIT Islamabad have more than 8000 students
which are registered in various degree programs at this Campus.
1.2- OBJECTIVES:
The objective of CIIT includes the following point of vision and mission:
Vision:
The CIIT university vision statement includes the following points:
• CIIT expects by creating an assumptions a truly national character for itself in
upcoming number of years.
• CIIT wants to expand its campuses to different provinces.
• To be in a top five universities in the country; including top 100 universities in the
developing countries and top 500 universities in the world respectively in the 5, 10 and 15
years.
• There will be a work out to start its degrees in medical and agricultural sciences.

1.4.2: CIIT internet service:
CIIT initiated Internet Services and it is one of the forerunner which provide Internet
Service of Pakistan. This CIIT internet service initiated as a project of CIIT in 1996.
Internet being a comparatively new technology at that time, COMSATS also developed a
CIS academy in order to provide the Internet medium of communication which focus
primarily to the government organizations.by developing this service the CIIT also provide
a products such as distance learning (virtual campus).

The cubator one Center at CIIT Islamabad with a main purpose of commercialization the
CIIT R&D. This is only attained through rapid and sustainable development of knowledge
contributions for the welfare of society.it provide opportunities to the all students who are

Student affair center is one of the main service provider to the students of CIIT Islamabad.
It is established with a main purpose to provide problem resolution, to provide the students
with job, provide information related to different activities and all other queries are
answered here by the management of CIIT I Islamabad student’s affair center. the student

affair is managed by the department of students Affair who is responsible for all the
activities.
1.4.7: Extracurricular Activities:
CIIT Islamabad supports fully extracurricular activities by developing the societies and
clubs like:

1.4.8-CIIT digital library:
CIIT Library is another one of the main service with products which includes books and discussion
rooms for students to study and their projects done. It is also provide students to approach 24,000
high quality books, databases, and articles which operates by the programmed related to the HEC
Digital Library. Including all these E-books they are also provide books related to different subject
areas like business studies and Technology sciences, bio informatics and psychology. The all
Students and faculty of CIIT can easily approach these books and articles by using the library card
VPN respectively.
2- LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE:
The CIIT Islamabad provide me a golden opportunity to perform a task in dynamic environment.
CIIT Islamabad is a reputable institute and become a part of it is my biggest achievement in my
life. The staff and management of ciit provide proper guidance while working and performing a

specific task at a student affairs center. I have learned a lot especially in the area of problem solving
and I also improve my way of communication in different situation. This program give me an
ability to think out of the box while performing task and giving suggestion during the resolution
of problem. The learning process is very effective because the management assigned particle work
and various exercise to the students to improve their performance and advancement of skills.
2.1- Internship time period and Rationale for Selection:
The internship program time period is about 8 weeks in CIIT Islamabad. And according to the
academic program requirements it is compulsory for every students to do internship in related
organization.
The main reason behind selection of this institute for internship is that it is really very convenient
for me and I want to grab this opportunity to learn first at my own institute. My area of interest
during internship program is related to dealing with students and thoroughly understand the
process of admissions and provide accurate information related to my work.

2.2- Details of Training Department Wise:
When I join CIIT Islamabad as an Internee, the orientation session was arranged by Sir Muhammad
Gull. In which Sir Gull introduce us with all employees and provide guide us how do we do our
work and give us an agreement to sign and detailed schedule for task to be performed. They also
tell us in detail that what they are expected from us during this program. The Head of department
of student affairs center conduct a meeting with all internees in order to motivate the internees and
pass expectation to us, so that all internees will be able to perform task effectively.

2.2.1- Task performed as Help Desk Operator:
I have performed following task:
To create token for students.
Give them direction for application submission.
Providing information about Qaraz-e-hasna program of CIIT Islamabad.
Providing details regarding issues resolution.
Collection of applications
Answer the student queries
Follow-up on students inquires not immediately resolved.
Another task at help desk is to dealing with graduating students in case of student’s
clearance, involving the verifying of clearance document, provide tokens and assistance of
graduating students of CIIT Islamabad.
2.2.2- Task performed at Call Center:
I have performed following task at call center of student’s affair center:
Providing information about admissions of CIIT Islamabad.
Providing details on academic programs offered by CIIT Islamabad.
Call forwarding to respective department.
Solving queries related to CIIT Islamabad Admissions e.g. have CIIT provide
scholarships at the time of admissions? The answer to this query is that CIIT is provide
scholarships at the time of admission for those students which have NTS test score plus
academic percentage is efficient.
Making phone calls to those students which have incomplete admission forms.
Making phone calls to those candidates who were not eligible for getting admission
and applying in CIIT Islamabad. I provide details about the admission requirements
and NTS test score of related departments.
2.2.3- Task performed at Admission Cell:
While working in teams and groups at admission cell divide major task in to individual
duties and responsibilities related to admissions.

On the Daily basis the interaction with students prospective students and their parents for
the purpose of providing information related to admission dates (what is the last date to
apply), offered programs (bachelor and master’s program) and NTS test score requirements
etc.
Conducting an information session prospective students by providing information about
admissions.
To provide an appropriate answer and solution to the problem to all the admission related
queries and problems of prospective students by communicating on telephone and face to
face interaction.
Completing duties and tasks assigned by supervisors and report them on continuous basis.
To provide details about the method of apply which includes online admission forms.
To inform the candidates and their parents about their NTS roll number slips.
Once the admission forms get completed in hard copy then I made their soft copy and
forward to the head of admission cell for record of students.
I made merit list of students in MS excel sheets and MS word documents
2.2.4- Personal Learning:
This internship program provide me an opportunity to learn in different departments.my task
are related to the student affairs activities and admission related activities of CIIT Islamabad.
I increased my knowledge, skills and abilities by performing different tasks. The main focus
of my task related activities are to improving communication skills and get vast knowledge
related to admissions of CIIT Islamabad. The aspect of this internship program is to make learn
all internees in a dynamic environment of an organization. There are following things which I
have learned from this internship programs.
Answer and provide appropriate solution to all queries of candidates and their parents:
During this internship I came to know while answering queries of candidates, I must be assured
about what I am saying and sharing information with others. I must have complete knowledge
about my work to answer difficult questions of candidates.
Proper Documentation method:

I learnt how to manage documents in admission office by entering data in MS word and Excel
sheets, how to present written report to the manager.
The Use of MS word and Excel sheets for data entry process:
During this internship program the data entry skills are polished comparatively more. Because on
daily basis I have to enter the data about students who applied for admission, apply for qarze hasna,
creating token, clearance issues of students.
Team task or group work and performance effectiveness:
The task which was given in group it fulfill the need for affiliation. In groups the understanding
among individuals, the task and performance of an individual effects positively and negatively
whole group. The performance effectiveness while working in groups increased comparatively
doing job individually.
2.2.5- Problem encountered during internship program:
During internship I encountered following problems:
Admission office was not spacious for visitors and not have enough space to handle the
candidates and their parents who applied for admissions.
No table and laptops was available for working for internees so that we have to adjust with
office staff for work.
Not Proper backup of electricity was available, once system was shut down I takes too
much time to restart.
Internet facility was mostly out of order during the admission session.
Sitting arrangement for candidates and their parents was not properly available and they
have to wait in long rows.
There are not sufficient number of printers was available, which creates problem and take
too much time to provide documents to the students.
Shortage of stationary like envelops, letter head etc.
2.3- SWOT ANALYSIS:

It is seen that the CIIT Islamabad has the ability to use their strength for capturing the
opportunities available in order to reduce the threats by competitors and minimize
weakness to make more strong position in education sector. Now I am proposing the
SWOT analysis of CIIT on the basis of my personal experience. The CIIT Islamabad
instead of being a trend follower, it can be a trend setter and also lead the education
sector.
There are following strength, weakness, opportunities and threats of CIIT Islamabad:
2.3.1- Strength of CIIT Islamabad:
Highly qualified faculty of CIIT Islamabad, which have highest number of PHD faculty
members.
The Only institute offering business opportunities by establishing the Cubator one in this
area.
The CIIT has many links with foreign universities which provide scholarships, financial
assistance and opportunities for growth.
CIIT Islamabad is also Offering a bio related programs which includes bio info and bio
sciences
Provide different Opportunities to their students and faculty in the area of R&D for
continuous development, growth, and ensure quality education.
The faculty and staff of CIIT Islamabad is very cooperative and also provide motivation to
their students and also help needy students by financials assistance scholarship.
The CIIT Islamabad is very airy, neat and clean and well organized campus
The CIIT Islamabad is having a very digital labs to make their students learn practically by
performing experiments related to technical field.
Well organized and digital library is another major strength of CIIT Islamabad.
The CIIT students are allowed to visit digital library for study on the basis of their student
cards.
The communication network among students and teachers are very wide and open.
CIIT offers different Scholarship programs for eligible and efficient students.

The Career Development Centre of CIIT Islamabad helps and provide guidance to their
students in order to get internship and jobs.
The CIIT Islamabad is PEC and HEC recognized university is another major strength.
All class rooms are facilitated with furniture, projector, and roster table.

Transport facility
Highest in ranking position.
Virtual campus of CIIT.
2.3.2- Weakness of CIIT Islamabad:
Not wide range of undergraduate and graduate major’s courses programs are offered and
facilitated in CIIT Islamabad.
Boys Hostel is at very long distance from campus.
CIIT Islamabad is not offering Pharm-D
CIIT Islamabad is also not offering MBBS, BDS or DVM.
CIIT Islamabad is not offering offer programs like Mass Communication, public
administration.
They have no business school.
They have no strong alumni.
Lack of extracurricular activities.
They have no proper parking place and auditorium.
2.3.3- Threats:
FAST is our competitor in accordance with computer sciences department.
New local private institutions are also offering MBBS and pharm D program.
The competition is growing among close public sector universities and small privates
sector universities in central.
2.3.4- Opportunities:

Ciit Islamabad can offer MBBS program by opening COMSATS hospital.
CIIT Islamabad can open their separate business school.
CIIT can developed and maintain their strong Alumni by establishing online system for
interaction.
They can capture the mind of people to choose COMSATS Islamabad by developing the
marketing strategy.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
While considering the above mentioned problems, according to my observation during
internship at student affair center and admission office. I recommended the following
points:
The admission department of CIIT Islamabad should have enough space to handle the
candidates and their parents.
The CIIT should build a waiting room in order to facilitate the parents and applicants
during the admission process.
CIIT should hire more employees in admission office in order to handle the activities
during the process of admission.
The staff of admission office make sure that all the necessary things like: stationary, papers,
printers should be offered in admission office, so that the process should be handled quickly
and efficiently.
The Supervisor who assist the internees should pass the appreciation to their internees for
the purpose of increase their efficiency.
The staff should not involve in making useless calls to the applicants, they must tell
students properly about the admission process before admission session starts.
NTS preparatory classes or online session must be given extra consideration so that no one
can raise question on it.
The CIIT Courier service is fail to deliver the NTS deposits slip and registration card to
their applicants in time.
The Scholarship programs should defined in sequence and detailed form..

CONCLUSION:
From above discussion and details I have provided , I conclude that this internship program
is very well organized and it make me learn in healthy environment and it is very good
experience for me to do an internship at CIIT students affair center and admission cell. The
CIIT Islamabad student center is mainly focus on individual outcomes and they analyses
the performance of an individual and on the basis of performance they appraise the
performance of an employee. The continuous learning program is offered by CIIT
Islamabad by managing performance on the daily base activities and task.
First of all I grab an opportunity to do work in the students affair Department as a help desk
operator where my task and responsibilities includes to provide assistance to the student’s
queries. I was involved in the activities like interaction with students, maintaining record
of students, facilitating the applicants coming for walk-in-interview for Qarz-e-hasna in
the CIIT Islamabad, creating token online for students and some other activities.
Secondly I got opportunity to work in the call center of CIIT Islamabad admission cell.
Where my duties was to assist the admission committee, who was wholly responsible for
managing the admission related activities of the CIIT Islamabad Campus.
At the last stage I worked in the admission cell, in which I was involved in the activities
like receiving admission forms, provide guidance related to admissions.
After getting rotated in the different departmental activities I must say that it was a great
experience for me to do internship in the CIIT Islamabad. I have learned a lot during my
period of internship about the working of an organization and improve communication
skills. Also I have learned how to perform different sort of tasks and what are the necessary
required knowledge, skills and abilities for an individual who is new in any organization.
According to the SWOTanalysis of CIIT Islamabad it is seen that CIIT Islamabad is having
a worthy potential to match its strengths in order to capture opportunities and reduce the
threats. Over all CIIT can be the trendsetter in this region rather than trend follower and
can dominate the market

In the end I recommend that the CIIT Islamabad admission process queries should be
handles online and the proper rewards should be given to the deserving and efficient
individuals.
