Sports Injuries and
Orthopaedic Treatment
The Sports Medicine
Program at OSNC espouses a
multidisciplinary philosophy
incorporating education &
prevention, evaluation &
diagnosis, and operative & non-operative
treatment. Return
to sport/activity for athletes
and active individuals alike is
paramount.
The injuries and conditions are
treated usually, but not always,
the result of injury sustained in
competitive sport. Sometimes they
are simply the result of normal
process of aging or inactivity.
The focus of the Sports Medicine
physician is on those injuries
affecting the knee, shoulder,
ankle, and elbow, but can (and
does) involve any other area of the
musculoskeletal system.

2. OSNC serves as the Team Physician for all local
schools (high school and college) in the communities
where we live and practice. OSNC is committed
to providing the highest level of orthopaedic and
musculoskeletal care to the student athletes of our
area. The Sports Medicine Team strives to serve and
to be ever “Available” to you should the need arise.
Physical Therapy
In addition to our orthopaedic
offices, we conduct follow-up
physical therapy and training
sessions at two convient
locations: Wakefield and
Knightdale. The Wakefield
physical therapy office is
located in the same building
as our Wakefield orthopedic office in the suite right
next door. The Knightdale physical therapy office
is located in the same building as our Knightdale
orthopedic office.
Aquatic Therapy
OSNC Physical Therapy is proud to offer aquatic
physical therapy at our Wakefield location. Aquatic
therapy will be provided in a heated, saline,
therapy pool located in the Rex Wellness Center
of Wakefield. Aquatic therapy is very beneficial
for our patients with lower extremity arthritis,
low back pain, obesity, and any patients who have
diffculty with land-based therapy. The buoyancy and
resistance properties of water makes for a perfect
therapy environment. For more information about

Occupational and Hand Therapy
The Occupational Therapists (OT) and Certified
Hand Therapists (CHT) at OSNC are a highly skilled
team committed to excellence in the rehabilitation
of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. They employ
specialized skills and therapeutic interventions to
enhance an individual’s ability to participate fully in
daily and work-related activities.
Our occupational therapists also provide education
in the use of adaptive equipment, splinting, and ADL
retraining prior to total joint replacement, spine
surgery, and other major surgeries such as ACL
reconstruction and rotator cuff repair.
Theraputic Massage
Therapeutic massage is the systematic manipulation
of soft tissue structures of the body. As an integral
part of modern healthcare, therapeutic massage
is widely prescribed by physicians to prevent
and alleviate pain, muscle spasm and other
discomforts caused by injury or activities of daily
living. Therapeutic massage reduces stimulation
of the sympathetic nervous system and, as a result,
increases the body’s ability to manage stress, anxiety,
and illness.
Massage is an integral part of the post-injury
and post-operative protocol. Our
Licensed Massage Therapists are highly
trained and work in conjunction with
our Physical Therapists to carry out
the Physician’s Treatment plan. Most
insurance companies will cover the use of
therapeutic massage when employed as
part of your doctor’s rehabilitative plan.
The Hand Center & The Spine Center
OSNC is proud to provide sub-specialty operative
and non-operative care of all hand conditions or
spine conditions. With the creation of The Hand
Center and The Spine Center at OSNC, we can
provide a comprehensive array of services dedicated
to treatment of the hand.
Our personable staff have additional training and
over a decade of experience in treating the entire
gamut of hand conditions or spine condition and
provide conservative and post-surgical therapy in a
warm and welcoming environment.
Sports Physicals
OSNC are pleased to offer $10 Sports Physicals at our
Urgent Care locations (Wakefield and Knightdale) 7
days a week from 9:00am - 9:00pm.
