For Starters.....
I am Arpita Kumar, graduate in Communication Design (specialised in Package Design) from NICC, Bangalore. I
am an Indian and I love my spices. I love food and would shyly confess that I am a foodoholic. Why am I talking
about food in my portfolio ? That is because I closely relate food to the work I do. Being a package/graphic
designer and a food connoisseur are much alike, as both needs passion, good creativity and skill, but one needs to
think with both their head and heart. Voila!
Like how a good meal or a cocktail evokes emotions, a good design too does that. Of course, depending on the
need, my designs can just be flat and simple like a low calorie bite or they can be royal like an eight course meal
or can just sing your heart's tune and touch that chord like a Classic Crème Brulée, which would just melt you
and get you weak by your knees.

The hamper once opened welcomes the aroma of fresh chocolates and hence
caters to the sense of smell.
Especially for you - is a recipe book designed by Bliss's head chef exclusively for the
receiver to try out the baking delights with the products in the hamper. This builds
curiosity to try the recipes.
The Bliss Luxury Chocolate Hamper is one of the premium hampers given to thank its
customers. With the 'Thank You' note on the hamper, it sends a personal message
thanking them and hence building a personal bonding with the receiver.

A platter of delicious chocolates by Bliss is what is inside the hamper which creates
an emotional bonding with the brand to the receiver.
Once the products are lifted up from their case, the receiver can enjoy interacting
and discovering quirky one liners about the product.
On the top lid, the receiver can find the information, ingredients about the products
in the hamper.

An interactive package usually has its way of making an appealing impression. With Bliss Luxury Chocolate Hamper, I designed a package which just
doesn't have delicious chocolates but also makes a person enjoy the whole experience of opening the hamper and interacting with it. The package once
opened, caters to all the five senses 'touch, smell, see, hear, taste'. The Bliss Luxury Chocolate Hamper was designed keeping, 'gift an experience' thought in
mind. Hence, the package mainly concentrated on the levels of experience in a simple box packaging.

Brief :
To design Diwali chocolate package for corporate gifting.
Objective :
Diwali is the festival of lights, it connotes joy, happiness, etc.
Hence my aim was to design a package which is minimalistic
yet has a traditional elegant appeal which is both cost effective
and logistically efficient.
Material Used :
Board/Paper

2. Product comparison (with competitor

Packaging Solution :
1. Resonates the festive mood of lights
2. Functionally efficient
3. Low production cost
4. Minimalistic yet has a traditional
and elegant appeal
Package Design & Prototyping :
The wrap around design in the package makes the chocolate box logistically efficient. The pivoted trays inside the wrap- around can easily old upto 18 choco-
lates making it easier for corporate gifting.
Design Innovation & Iterations :
The concept of the wrap - around box evolved from several iterations based on multiple factors like quantity of chocolates, usage of environmental friendly
materials and lastly the effiency and the placement of the product.

Design Innovation :
The concept of the design resembling a dress for odonil air freshener evolved from a simple thought 'Who does the shopping for home ?'. The answer interest-
ingly gave me the idea of dress packaging for odonil.
Package Design & Prototyping :
The dress packaging for odonil is just not appealing but easier to stock and produce. It is highly cost effective. These packages can be produced using environment
friendly papers. Hence, the new odonil package is eco- friendly and more appealing and catchy to the target audience.
Packaging Solution :
The new Odonil package caters
to the following needs:
1. Aesthetically good
2. Functionally efficient
3. Production cost is not high
4. First mover advantage
Air fresheners have great fragrance but what they lack is the creative shelf appeal. My objective was to design a package which has great shelf impact and it
had to break the monotony of a simple box packaging. The redesigned Odonil is aesthetically appealing and functionally efficient with peppy packaging
which appeals to the target audience.

Branding Strategy & Iterations
Pitambari is widely used in India. It is a traditional old washing powder
which many women in India connect with. The important factor was to
concentrate on giving the brand a fresh appeal yet maintaining the traditional
look. Therefore, retaining the (famous) logo, the design on the package has
been changed to make it minimalistic and appealing to the audience across
the spectrum.
Solution :
The re-branded Pitambari package caters to the following needs:
1. New look
2. Appealing shelf presence
3. Attractive and connects to across the generation spectrum
4. Minimal graphics
The old Pitambari package lacked shelf appeal. This rebranding project
achieved in giving a face lift to the product for better shelf appeal. Keeping
the target audience in mind, the re-branded package maintains a similar
colour pallette and makes sure to connect with the target audience.
