The RNGC Himalayan News Service Qualifying School golf tournament under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2014-15 began on Tuesday at the Royal Nepal Golf Club. Fourteen amateur golfers will compete in the 54-hole stroke play format tournament, where a maximum of five players can earn professional cards. To earn a pro card, players must finish within a scoring limit of 21-over-par for the 54 holes. The players who receive pro cards will be eligible to participate in events on the Surya Nepal Golf Tour.

The Qualifying School golf tournament under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2014-15 is beginning here at the
Royal Nepal Golf Club from Tuesday.
In all, 14 amateur golfers will take part in the tournament that offers pro cards to a maximum of five
players. The tournament will be held under stroke play format over 54 holes, informed Nepal Professional
Golfers Association in a release today.
“A maximum of five players will earn professional card from this tournament. There shall also be scoring
limit of 21-over for 54 holes to earn pro-card from this year,” the release added. The players who earn the
pro cards will be eligible to take part in the Surya Nepal Golf Tour events.
Out of 14 participants, six players are from Gokarna Golf Club, four from Royal Nepal Golf Club, two from
Himalayan Golf Course of Pokhara and two from Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club. Dinesh Prajapati,
who is in the Asian Games camp, is also taking part in the tournament. Other aspiring golfers vying for
the pro cards included Dinesh Narkoti, Amit Bogati, Shivaram Poudel, Bikash Bogati, Krishna Murari
Sapkota, Balaram Chaulagai, Bhimsen Bhujel, Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi, Sanjeev CK, Prakash
Neupane, Ram Lama, Sonam Bhujel and Bhuwan Koirala.
“It is great to see that so many aspiring golfers taking part in this event. We would like the standard of
competition to grow in the Surya Nepal Golf Tour in the days ahead, therefore we are happy to give
continuity to qualifying school which is a platform for amateurs to turn pro and join the tour,” said NPGA
