The Heart
Inside are love and pain.
Especially love,
Especially pain.
Outside is not a perfect red,
Outside is dark red, and sewn in black patches with
Blue Stitches. Also bruises that never go away.
So worn down, it’s a shock it’s still there.
But all are the same.
All feel pain,
All feel love,
All are hidden.
To find a heart is to truly know it.
So why?
Why be so mean?
Why judge?
Why pull practical “jokes?”
Why inflict pain on a worn down and tattered heart about to break?
See someone new,
New,but also different.
So different it scares you.
Don’t see the difference,
Ignore anything so strange it makes you shudder and shake.
See the heart.
Look!
It is just like yours!
It’s bruised,
And worn,
And torn.
It is colored red,
2. It has black patches sewn with blue stitches just like yours,
It even has the same rotted neglect.
It has the same metallic and bitter things that hold it together.
So guess what?
It also, goes through the same crippling pain,
Its insides are identical to yours.
You just found this person’s heart,
There is a faded, forgotten, and heavily abused label.
It Reads:
Treat with care.
So why?
Why not just be friends?
