SHELTER OF FLINT CEO ACCEPTS APPOINTMENT TO PRESTIGIOUS
AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVISORY COUNCIL
FLINT, MI, June 23, 2015– The Board of Directors of Shelter of Flint, Inc. is pleased to announce that
Anne Grantner, President and CEO, has been appointed to the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis’
Affordable Housing Advisory Council (AHAC).
Having dedicated her career to addressing homelessness and low-income housing issues in the
nonprofit sector, Grantner has elevated Shelter of Flint to historic levels, and has skillfully developed and
blended programs for maximum community impact.
“Anne’s appointment to the advisory board gives a voice and representation to the greater Flint area on
issues of housing and community development,” said Ravi Yalamanchi, CEO of Metro Community
Development. Yalamanchi was responsible for Grantner’s nomination. “Anne is a hard worker, dedicated and
passionate about providing basic needs such as shelter, permanent housing and support services to
individuals and families who are struggling in their day to day life. Over the years I have seen her grow from a
staff person to CEO. She is a creative thinker and always looking to do more.” added Yalamanchi.
“We are thrilled that Anne was nominated and appointed to the Affordable Housing Advisory Council,”
said Eric Gasper, chair of Shelter of Flint’s Board of Trustees. “Her entrepreneurial spirit and steadfast vision
have made the Shelter what it is today, and we are thrilled that she can now share her gifts with other entities
in this powerful way.”
The AHAC is composed of housing and community development leaders of Michigan and Indiana. The
council works closely with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis’ board of directors and staff to identify
community issues in Michigan and Indiana. This collaboration improves the development of products and
services which members can use in addressing needs that best fit their communities.
“We are pleased to have someone of Anne’s caliber joining this council,” said MaryBeth Wott, First Vice
President and Community Investment Officer with Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. “In our careful
selection of our current nominees, we considered geographical diversity, housing and development
experience, organizational representation and other experiences brought by nominees. Anne’s vast history of
innovation and success at Shelter of Flint made her an ideal candidate for this important committee.”
Grantner earned a degree in psychology from Michigan State University and her master’s degree in
social work at the University of Michigan. In addition to her recent appointment to the FHLBI Advisory Council,
Grantner also serves as Vice President of the Genesee County Continuous Quality Improvement Committee,
