ANGELA LINDVALL
INTRO
Angela Lindvall is renowned for her creative versatility and she brings that quality to her professional life as a model, actress and TV
host, as well as to her private life as a student and, more recently, as a teacher of Kundalini yoga, an avid environmentalist, a wellness
advocate, and a mother.
In recent years, Lindvall has embarked on a journey of self-discovery, one prompted by a set of life challenges as well as the need to
realign her professional priorities with her personal philosophy and beliefs. For over 15 years, she has studied voraciously on a variety of
subjects, from psychology and religion to mythology and metaphysics, became a yogi and created a small, sustainable farm in her own
back yard. An outspoken, longtime environmentalist, Lindvall tends this garden with her two young sons in order to teach them about
the symbiosis we have with our planet. Her appreciation for her surroundings and neighborly community naturally led her to explore
self-care and wellness. “Working in fashion, with such incredibly talented people, is always an inspiration,” she notes. “My dream is to
further develop my ability for creative expression, and to use that to uplift and inspire others in a way that is not directly about me.” For
Lindvall, well-being is necessarily a global conversation about finding solutions. “Self-care implies not only caring for yourself physically
and spiritually, it means taking care of the world we live in,” she observes. “In that sense, self-care is probably the most important thing
we can do for ourselves and for our planet.” In that spirit, Lindvall has designed her home as a small eco-sanctuary that she makes
available for occasional health and well-being retreats.
PHILOSOPHY
Throughout her fashion career, one of the things Lindvall says she strived to learn is how to let loose without self-judgment or trying
to be perfect. “That is not an easy journey, for me or for any woman who has ever compared herself unfavorably to others,” she notes.
What inspires her now is authenticity, living in the present and consciously cultivating happiness. “For me, that means being with my
family, travel, cooking, learning about other cultures, seeing different ways of life, and practicing appreciation and gratitude,” Lindvall
continues. “One of my teachers once told me, ‘If you want to master something, teach it!’ My hope is to use my skills and knowledge
to help empower other women, not by telling them they should be like anyone else, but by helping to teach them how they can create
their own harmony and feel their best.”
BACKGROUND
Angela Lindvall grew up in Kansas City, Mo. At age 14, she was spotted in a local fashion show by a talent scout and soon began ap-
pearing in major publications including editions of Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, i-D and Marie Claire. She has appeared
in advertising campaigns for the world’s leading fashion names and brands, including Prada, Chanel, Valentino, Gucci, Louis Vuitton,
DKNY, Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Gap, Uniqlo and Banana Republic. She appeared in the Victoria’s
Secret fashion show multiple times from 2000-2008. She is the only supermodel to have been named “Best Dressed Environmentalist”
by the Sustainable Style Foundation.
Film & TV
Lindvall’s film work includes a lead in CQ (directed by Roman Coppola, 2002) and the cult movie Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Shane Black,
2005). In 2007, she co-hosted Alter Eco, one of Discovery Channel’s first Planet Green shows, with fellow actor Adrian Grenier. She also
appeared in Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere in 2010 and again in Roman’s latest film Charles Swan in 2012.
Lindvall also hosted Lifetime’s Project Runway All Stars (2012).
Environment & Sustainability
In 2005, Lindvall launched the pioneering non-profit initiative The Collage Foundation Inc., an educational entertainment platform advo-
cating environmental awareness and positive change.
Thanks to her eco-activism, Lindvall was selected to host one of the first major “green fashion” shows during New York Fashion Week
(2007). She is also a founding board member of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s “Clean by Design”, an initiative to revolutionize
the textile industry in China.
During a trip to Bali in 2008, Lindvall became acquainted with the green-design luxury jewelry brand John Hardy. A mutual commitment
to the environment led to a collaboration on charity bracelets made from recycled silver; proceeds of sales benefitted the non-profit
environmental group ForestEthics, which protects North American forests, wildlife and the people who depend on them. Lindvall be-
came the face of John Hardy from 2010-2011, and the relationship expanded into the eco-responsible Angela by John Hardy collection
for QVC (2011).
Among her hands-on adventures in sustainable development, Lindvall once completely restored a 95-foot tugboat to sustainable, eco-
logical standards. It was docked on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River and was her home for 2 years.
Lindvall lives with her two sons in Topanga Canyon, California.
