General Information:
Shawnee State University, Ohio's newest state-supported university, was
established July 1986. Previously, the institution has been named:
Shawnee State Community College 1977-1986
Shawnee State General and Technical College 1975-1977
Scioto Technical College J 970-1975
(Merged with Ohio University-Portsmouth to form
Shawnee State General and Technical College)
Accreditation:
Shawnee State University is accredited by the North Central Association
of Colleges and Secondary Schools as a degree-granting institution at the
associate and baccalaureate levels. It is approved by and/or holds
membership in: Ohio Board of Regents, Ohio State Department of
Education Division of Vocational Education, American Association of
Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Counselors, American Dental
Association, American Medical Association Committee on Allied
Health Education and Accreditation.
Academic Calendar:
The University utilized the quarter academic calendar for undergraduate
courses through the Spring Quarter 2007. Graduate courses have, since
their inception in the Fall of 2006, utilized the semester academic
calendar. Beginning with the Summer of 2007, the University has used
the semester academic calendar.
