BACKGROUND
3. The number of women is nearly half of the total population in
Bangladesh. Empowering women economically is a fundamental
and unavoidable part of development dialog. In recent years, like
other developing countries of the world, Bangladesh has been
focusing on the most underprivileged group of women in the
society. Janata Bank Limited is contributing significantly to
promote women entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

5. Background of Janata Bank Limited
This is a progressive Bank
On 15th November, 2007 the bank has been corporatized and
renamed as Janata Bank Limited.
Dr. Jamaluddin Ahmed is the Honorable Chairman of Janata Bank
Limited.
Janata Bank has now 906 branches.
Janata Bank Ltd has been playing a significant role in the economic
development of the country by mobilizing savings and distributing
funds into different productive sectors.

Women Entrepreneurs Development Credit Program in JBL
Women Entrepreneurs Development Scheme has been introduced to
encourage women in doing business. Under this scheme, the bank
finances the small and cottage industry projects sponsored by women
.With a view to extending financial support to women entrepreneurs,
JBL provides credit facilities to them.

14. ❖The objective of JBL is to earn profit as well as to improve the economic
welfare of the people as a whole.
❖ Janata Bank Limited has a deep concern for rural women and plays a
significant role in long term loan for women entrepreneur.
❖Sometime the document verification is done after the loan sanctioning.
❖There is shortage of manpower and lack of proper training for the
employees in loan section.
❖The loan proposal evaluation process is lengthy. Therefore, sometimes
valuable clients are losts.
Findings of the Report
15. Janata Bank Limited provides a wide range of commercial banking
services. Janata Bank Limited has achieved success among its peer
group within a short span of time with its professional and dedicated
team of management having long experience, commendable
knowledge and expertise in conversation with modern banking. The
management of the bank is maintaining an efficient portfolio in order
to have a healthy worth and retain customer satisfaction. Janata Bank
Limited give a great opportunity to women entrepreneur development
credit program in Bangladesh.
CONCLUSION
16. 1.SME Women Loan Policy documentation of the
JBL is very complicated. Bank need to make it easy
and understandable.
2.JBL interest of SME Women entrepreneur Loan is
lower than other commercial banks. So, they don’t
need to emphasize much on improving interest rate.
3.JBL can emphasize more on changing the rules or
select those women who have previous business
experience in short time.
