Dr. Aarohi Ambardekar has worked as a consultant anesthesiologist at Southern Maryland Anesthesia Associates, LLC, since 2005. He currently serves as the Lanham-based group's quality and assurance officer. 2. INTRODUCTION
Dr. Aarohi Ambardekar has worked as a consultant
anesthesiologist at Southern Maryland Anesthesia
Associates, LLC, since 2005. He currently serves as the
Lanham-based group's quality and assurance officer.
Beyond his day-to-day work, Dr. Aarohi Ambardekar
maintains membership in the American Society of
Anesthesiologists (ASA).

3. In addition to its education offerings for practicing
anesthesiologists, ASA oversees a variety of advocacy
programs and activities to promote issues affecting the
anesthesiology field and health care in general. Through its
committee on government affairs, the group has created
several advocacy tools and resources that members can
use to get involved.

4. One of the ASA's most important advocacy tools is its
Grassroots Network, which engages Society members in
direct political action to advance legislative priorities related
to drug shortages, the opioid epidemic, surprise medical
bills, and other topics. The Grassroots Network also includes
Team 535, a group of key contacts who organize and lead
legislative outreach activities.

5. Other ASA advocacy resources include informative learning
modules and an advocacy-focused podcast. Additionally, the
group supports a political action committee, ASAPAC, that
promotes anesthesiology-related issues on the federal level.
