Woven’s Senior Designer
• Create color palettes and print stories. Work with print and cad department on what is needed for the
season.
• Travel and research new concepts, big ideas, and shop for each season
• Pull fabrics and new novelty ideas. Work with fabric team on new developments.
• Create flat sketches. Work with in-house patternmaker.
• Attend all fittings and fit all garments after line review.
• Work closely with merchants, production, and tech design on a daily basis.
• Work with overseas counterparts on new design concepts.
• Present the line every season to President and CEO of the company.
• Manage assistant designer and design interns.
RACHEL Rachel Roy. (The Jones Group) New York, NY. September 2008-October 2012.
Designer I: Associate Designer
• Helped launch a new contemporary line exclusive to Macy’s.
• Work directly under the Creative Director.
• Travel, research, and shop for inspirations for the next season.
• Sketch flats and create original designs from concept boards, found vintage, and global trends.
• Work with our Tech Designers to detail sketches for their tech packs (drape garments when necessary)
and work with pattern makers and drapers.
• Attend all fittings
• Create and maintain all line sheets.
• Follow designs from concept through production.
Skills
• Excellent knowledge in the whole design process, from concept to construction to production.
• Ability to take direction very well and create sketches and stories for the design season.
• Able to handle many tasks at once and stay extremely organized. Exceptional at time management.
• Knowledge of fabrics and excellent draping skills.
• Knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, PLM, and Sharepoint
• Collaborate well with other people as a team, but also very independent and able to initiate my own
projects.
• Extensive understanding of sewing and construction, fabric manipulation, and cost-effective ways of
constructing garments.
