History
The Smokey Mountains have been a major tourist and travel destination. So, The Robins
Brothers created a way to show tourists the Smokey Mountain way of life. In 1961, the brothers
created the Rebel Railroad, a saloon, and blacksmith shop for visitors to enjoy. In 1970, Rebel
Railroad was bought and named Goldrush Junction. New attractions and lodging was added to
the site and was known as "Tennessee's Million Dollar Fun Attraction."
After name changes and new owners, next was Silver Dollar City that later expanded to
Dollywood when Dolly Parton joined the owners of Silver Dollar City in 1986.

Dollywood theme park consists of 150 acres full of amusement rides, award-winning shows, and
educational demonstrations for the whole family to enjoy.
Dollywood’s Splash Country Water Adventure Park is located right across from Dollywood. It is
a park designed for thrill and relaxation all in the same place.
Smoky Mountain Cabins are intended for the place to go to after a long day at Dollywood. These
luxurious cabins are located in the Smoky Mountains to give guests breathtaking views and a
comfortable space for the whole family.
Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort is located minutes away from Dollywood Theme Park. On 100
acres, this 300-room resort is designed to give families an idea of southern living. This resort is
intended to bring families together.

Dollywood loves to give back to the communities that supports them.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination library helps children around the world learn about the importance of
reading. This program was developed in 1995 by Dolly for her native Sevier County, Tennessee.
Dolly wanted every preschool child to have his/her own collection of books.
The American Eagle Foundation is dedicated to the recovery and protection of bald eagles and
their habitat. The Eagle Mountain Sanctuary at Dollywood educates visitors with shows about
eagles and how to protect them.

Dollywood is now open for the 2018 season with new attractions in Dolly Parton’s “Season of
Showstoppers”
According to Travel and Leisure News, “The first event will be the Festival of Nations,
which highlights cultures from across the globe through song and dance and runs from
March 17 to April 9. The National Dance Company of Siberia, The Flamenco Kinds, and
Ladysmith Black Mambazo are headlining, and there will be performances from Invaders
Steel Orchestra, Irish bluegrass group JigJam, and German stilt dancers Zebra
Stelzentheater.” The park will also bring in A Spring Music Series and Bluegrass festivals.
