The document describes the process taken to create a glitch background from a photograph as inspiration for representing Kpop music visually. Key steps included rotating and cropping the original photo, duplicating the layer and unticking color channels to create a 3D effect, adding vector masks to further distort the image, overlaying pixels to resemble a computer screen, and adjusting hue, saturation, and brightness to complete the glitch effect background.
Redefining Affordable Housing in Gurgaon The Role of Housing Architects from ...
The Glitch Background
1. SOURCE OF
INSPIRATION
Looking back at my research, my
target audience related Kpop to
electro, technology and effects
that pop. To represent this, I came
up with the idea of creating a glitch
background from a photograph I
have taken before. To give me idea
on what my final product should
look like, I searched up what
glitch backgrounds look like and
took these screenshots for
inspiration.
3. I started by rotating the image and
cropping the dark silhouettes out..
..and converting the image into a
Smart Object
I duplicated the image’s
layer twice (to have three
copies of the image). I
went onto the blending
options and:
1st duplicate: unticked
the G and B channels
2nd duplicate: unticked
the R and B channels.
I then moved the two
duplicates, one slightly
to the right and the
other to the left to
create the 3D effect.
1st image: one
duplicate moved
2nd image: both
duplicates moved.
4. I then added vector
masks to the
duplicates to create
a template to
precisely select
where I want to
misshape the image
even more.
Here are the vector masks beside
the results (I increased the
image’s saturation to show the
difference clearer); I decided to
use the one on the right.
5. I then searched for a ‘pixel
overlay’ to make my
background look like it was
a computer screen.
Before After
I then increased the
hue and saturation,
decreased the
brightness and
flipped the image
horizontally.
