Subway Review
Interesting, a word that describes not only the food but the experience when attending
Subway on campus. The past couple of months, I’ve seen stuff that you wouldn’t see at your
everyday subway. The process is always the same, you wait in line for what seems like a decade
until they finally ask you with an irritated tone, “What kind of bread will we be having today?”
Then, they procced to throw on the meat and cheese of your choice but it really doesn’t matter
what you get because all the sandwiches seem to taste the same. Want veggies? I would highly
discourage, as it seems they have sitting out for two days before being served. I also now have an
understanding as to why they call it Subway, because when asking for sauce or dressing on your
sub they proceed to drown it. At the end of the day, as a college student, money is always a
problem and you must eat what’s available to you, even if it’s the horrendous subs from Subway.
Subway is a sub-par place to eat based on its experience, quality of food, and also the
atmosphere.
As I stated earlier, it really is an experience when attending the Subway. I’ve never been
to an establishment where the workers are so disrespectful. Many workers give attitude and are
always complaining about not wanting to be there. They use profanity after every word, directing
it at customers. It still blows my mind how half of them are still working there. I’ve seen
customers so pissed off that they were one word away from jumping over the counter and
fighting. The worst part about the experience is by far the snail pace the workers preform at.
Talking, hiding in the back, doing anything but helping their customers. The staff members, or
“chefs”, personalities are hit or miss. There are very few people in there that are great and can
hold solid conversations. Those people are what make life worth it. However, with every good,
there must be bad to go along with it.
There are also those people who look like they do not want to be there in at all; some of
whom are very immature. Overall, I’ve created a pretty nice relationship with a few workers in
subway. For example, the two girls who work earlier in the day always seem to give me extra
meet or the freshest bread. I have established basic communication and understanding
relationship with some worker by being polite “Have a good day,” “Thank you, you too,” kind of
deal; which, I might add, is no problem at all.
Now let’s move on to the quality of food, first starting with the day-old bread that they
claim is ‘fresh.’ Every single loaf of bread is dry and not appetizing at all. When asking what
meat you like, whatever choice you have will taste exactly the same. The ham is slimy, the steak
is soggy and the turkeys is dry. When talking about the vegetables, I don’t even think you can
refer to them as vegetables. Many of them are different colored or look spoiled. I would also call
them very plain with little taste. Other options include pizza, salad, and soup. The pizza was my
only choice from there for about it month until I grew sick of it. Although it is very hard to mess
up pizza, I think subway should just stick to subs based on the quality of their pizza. One last
thing that proves my point that this Subway is the worst one in America. The simplest thing to do
in the food business is to keep the pop machine up and running and working properly, and half
the time the machine isn’t working and the other half, all the drinks are watered down. Typical
Jackson Subway.
One of the only positives may be the atmosphere around Subway. Since I’m on the
baseball team, there’s always a teammate there to chat with. Sometimes a lot of team is present. I
know a lot of people around campus look at it as a place to eat and hang with friends. There is a
huge amount of TV’s all around the Hangar, where subway is located. It just gives off a friendly
feel where people want to be. Although this is a positive, as you get closer and closer to the
actual subway, you see that many stuff is not organized. They never have chips out, but when
they do, they just leave them in the box that was delivered to them and throw them out front.
Also, I can never seem to find a lid or straw for my drink as they never restocked.
I’ve experienced this subway more than your average person considering the fact I have it
at least once a day. This evaluation on Subway is the most accurate piece of real life review you
will receive on this establishment. The below average food to the atmosphere of many students,
you never know what you will encounter when attending the subway. Overall, if I had to rate
subway on a point system, I’d break it down by category: Food Quality – 3/10, Atmosphere –
7/10, Customers Who Eat There – 7/10, Service or Workers – 3/10, and finally, Accessibility –
6/10. As an overall grade, so to speak, I’d give the subway a solid 4.32/10. Subway has gotten
really old, really quick. However, you better believe that I’m balling on a budget and will be
there promptly tomorrow for my meal; it’ll have to do.
