Welcome to Aleph Academy – Session 3: The Search for Motivation
What's life during COVID-19 for you?
The Aleph Research Team has conducted a survey within the organisation to find out how Alephians are coping in this period of uncertainty, as we all try to seek some sense of normalcy.

9. 01Practice kindness &
self compassion
It’s important to allow ourselves
to feel these emotions and
acknowledge it.
It is perfectly understandable to feel stressed, anxious, and
worried about everything that’s happening. Your feelings are
valid, even if you feel guilty or unreasonable having them.

can control and don’t
indulge in overthinking

attracted to the worst possible
case, often very inaccurately.

“Practice mindfulness
• What emotions am I feeling right now?
Identify key emotions and thoughts
• Are these thoughts true? Do these thoughts benefit me?
Objectively analyse your thoughts
• Have I done what I can?
Be realistic with this – if you’ve done your best, that is more
than enough

body too

“Some thought starters for you –
1. Take time to indulge in a little skincare routine (less makeup and
pollutants for maximum skincare efficacy)
2. Get creative and experiment with cooking (try healthy ingredients)
3. Take a break from the sedentary lifestyle and jump on a 30 day shred
challenge on YouTube
4. A glass or two of red wine is fine to wind down from the day (it’s filled
with antioxidants!), but be careful not to grow too dependent on it

16. Self-motivation
begins with
self-awareness
05 What drives you?
This will take a little bit
of self-exploration of
your intrinsic motivators.
But once you’ve this
figured out, it’s easy to
apply day to day.

17. Next, apply it to
every task
06 Think about how each task
benefits you and brings you
closer to your goals.
ALEPH ACADEMY 2020 / FIGURE OUT PERSONAL MOTIVATORS
18. Here’s a handy little formula to
frame your thoughts:
This task enables me to personal motivator 1 and
personal motivator 2 which brings me one step closer
to my personal goal.
19. For example:
Doing this research report enables me to grow and
hone my craft which bring me one step closer to
becoming a better researcher than I was yesterday.
21. It’s all about how
you communicate
with yourself
07 When you perceive choice, you
perceive motivation.

22. How would you…
Leaders… some food for thought:
inspire the team so they feel competent?
help your team to become success seekers
rather than failure avoiders?
24. Where there is
disruption, there
is opportunity
08 There is liberation in this
suspension of more or
less everything.

25. Use additional
pocket of times
to fuel your soul
09 Without the need to commute and have
activities outside your household, using those
additional pockets of time to build a skill or
tap into a hobby may make you feel more
fulfilled and motivated.
