The talent market has changed dramatically in
recent years. This new scenario has created a
number of new problems as well as new oppor-
tunities.
Now that the talent market is global, it is possible
to compete for the same profiles with compa-
nies from all over the world, which was previously

To navigate this new scenario, it is critical to have
access to up-to-date salary information for va-
rious markets and positions in order to attract

According to TalentUp’s data, an IT professional
spends an average of 19 months in a company.
Consider the cost to a company of hiring and trai-

ve after a year and a half. TalentUp extracts data
from a variety of job offers and professional pro-
files from various sources, processes and valida-
tes them, and obtains real and up-to-date data on
the talent market’s demand and salaries.
All of this information is then uploaded to Ta-
lentUp’s Salary Platform, where our clients can
review it. Currently, more than 200 positions are
available in more than 90 cities. Salaries are also
updated every two weeks, providing a current

compare their salaries to those of the market in
order to determine whether they are competiti-

Duplicate data is removed by
cross-checking sources.
Job offers can be published on
multiple websites or repeated
every few weeks. For this reason,
we only include unique data inthe
database. After the extraction
of data, TalentUp’s Algorithm is
responsible for validating this data.
For example, a software developer
can be named ‘programador
software’, ‘software engineer’ or
‘programmer’. All of them refer to
the same role. To solve it, we use
an advanced model that identifies
which role a job profile belongs to.
Validate data
Data is validated by comparing
patterns across sources.
After data is normalized, in the next
step data is validated to ensure
accuracy.
E.g., In order to understand if the
salary is accurate, we need more
context - seniority level, years of
experience, skills required, etc.
With access to this information the
job profile is compared with other
job profiles in similar companies
within the same location. If the
salary fits, we compare it with
the salaries within the respective
company and check whether it fits
or not.
With this method new salaries are
validated and either included in the
database or discarded.
Methodology
TalentUp extracts data from a variety of job
offers and professional profiles from sources
such as LinkedIn, Infojobs, and Indeed, which it
then processes and validates to obtain real and
up-to-date data on the talent market’s demand
and salaries.
TalentUp currently has data on over 250 million
professionals, 23 million salaries, and 8 million bu-
sinesses.
All of this information is then uploaded to Ta-
lentUp’s Salary Platform, where our clients can
review it. Currently, more than 200 positions are
available in more than 90 cities. Salaries are also
updated every two weeks, providing a current
market picture.
The platform also allows users to compare wor-
ker salaries to market rates to determine if they
are competitive. It is also possible to compare
salaries in various cities and to research compe-
titors.

5. Understand your own budget - Salaries
are the most expensive operating ex-
pense for most businesses. In general, it
is normal for businesses to spend 40 to
70% of their gross revenue on workers’
compensation, including salaries and
benefits, in order to hire good talent. If
your profit margin is small, it is best to
start small and gradually increase.
6. Consider fringe benefits - This is criti-
cal because if you don’t, you may end
up paying more than you planned. Fringe
benefits can sometimes amount to 25-
30% of an employee’s salary. Consider
the costs of providing health insurance,
life insurance, retirement plans, leave
benefits, group health plans, or any other
employee benefit.

ranges for each job position when de-
termining employee salaries. This inclu-
des the lowest and highest amount you
are willing to pay.
8. Consider total rewards - Keep in mind
that salary is only one component of the
total reward package. Consider other
appealing benefits such as flexible work
schedules, work-life balance, engaging
career opportunities, fun at work, and
meaningful work when making a salary
