This document discusses demonstrating abilities through action rather than just talking about intentions. It suggests that to prove your skills, you must "walk the walk" by producing work and enhancing what you do, rather than expecting immediate recognition. If you are truly capable, others will take notice of your accomplishments over time. The document also notes that many failed companies hired people who only talked about their skills rather than showing them through performance on the job.
1. Can you walk the walk?
There is a well-known phrase, can you walk the talk? This is because most, whatever
position they are in talk about what they intend to accomplish first. So, a hypothesis is suggested.
Demonstrating the walk, no fan fair and have others talk to your acclaim about how you finished
the walk.
You are good at what you do, and you know it. As a matter of fact you are really good at
a lot of other things you have never done before, and you know it. However, no one will give
you a chance to showcase your abilities. Not your fault that you do not have the credentials to
explain that you do. But still, what’s wrong with everybody? I told you I can do it.
Do some research and compare statistics, you will be surprised to find that a surprising
number of companies that failed hired someone that said they were good at what they do. Well
how can you fix this because you are good in your eyes at what you can accomplish? Do the
walk, and if it takes a while or you never get a chance to really showcase your abilities, do as an
older person relayed to me as a child, and have some respect about yourself. In other words, do
not look for the acclaim but present yourself as someone who is willing.
Not the norm that you would readily accept knowing that communities are filled with
people who reached a level of professionalism without formal credentials. Reality check, you are
not getting the call you desire.
The walk:
Ok, so start where you are. Produce something, enhance what you are doing, and keep
doing this. And, if you are as good as you say you are someone will notice. If this is hard for you
to keep doing, then maybe some reflection as to why you want acclaim should be assessed, and
maybe just maybe if you are a manger all you really have is supervisory skills.
