OPTIONS OF TREKS IN KENYA
Trekking, Lake Elementaita
Walking around the lake in the morning or afternoon is great for birding. There is always a high concentration of
flamingo on the shores, with Fish Eagles and other birds in the forests. Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle and other plains
game are often seen here. For that you will need couple of days in Lake Nakuru.
Menengai Crater Trek
An excellent hike in this area is to the rim of Menengai Crater, high over Nakuru town. This huge volcanic crater is
12km across and 500m deep. It is possible to climb up to the craters edge (2272m) with spectacular views from the
top. The hike should take about 6 hours to the crater and back from Nakuru. For that you will need couple of days
in Lake Nakuru.
Hiking Mount Longonot
The 2100m high Mt Longonot is an enjoyable way to spend a day. The views from the top across to Naivasha and
the Aberdares are sensational, and the views of the crater within the mountain even more breathtaking. The climb
up is relatively easy if you take it slowly, and the average climber can reach the top in an hour and a half, following
a well defined path. There are rest stops with tables on the way. Once at the top, a further hour can be spent
walking around the crater rim, with excellent views the entire way. There is also a steep path down to the crater
floor. Ranger guides are available at the Park Gate. Longonot is an easy day’s trek, but for the adventurous, the
crater presents interesting possibilities for abseiling. Abseillers would need their own equipment and the assistance
of a locally skilled guide. For that you will need couple of days in Lake Naivasha.
Trekking or hiking at Hells Gate
Dry, dusty and dramatic but infinitely peaceful, Hell's Gate is that rare thing: an adventurous Kenyan park with large
animals that's safe to explore by bicycle or on foot. Large carnivores are very rare, so you can cycle to your heart's
content past grazing zebras, giraffes, impalas and buffaloes, spot rock hyraxes as they clamber up inclines and
chase dust clouds as they swirl in the wind. And if the pedalling isn't enough exercise, hike the gorge or climb
Fischer's Tower through the canyons of Hells gate. It’s a comfortable short hike.

TREKKING OPTIONS IN TANZANIA
Kilimanjaro is the most iconic trek in Tanzania. Nearest air base is Kilimanjaro
airport, and it usually takes 8-9 days. Once can supplement it with a few days of
Serengeti safari or Zanzibar beach relaxation at the end. Decent accommodation is
available at most altitudes and it can be possibly a luxury trek. Following are the
routes
Lemosho route- This route takes 8 days with relaxed trekking. The campsites are
maintained according to the height.
Machame route- It is the most popular route and always stays busy. It is also
famous for the stunning view of the west of the mountain.
Rongai route- It is one of the quietest routes. This route is most popular among
trekkers. You can take one more day for acclimatization.
Shira route- It also takes around 8 days.
https:/
/www.wildvoyager.com/destination/mount-kilimanjaro/
Mount Meru is Africa’s second-highest mountain peak (the first
being Mount Kilimanjaro), it stands at over 4500 sq feet above
sea level, situated over the Arusha National Park in Tanzania.
While the Meru height seems easier to reach than Kilimanjaro’s,
it is an arduous three to four day climb, with fickle weather and
altitude sickness a constant source of hindrance and worry. Base
for the climb is Arusha, and air base is Kilimanjaro Airport. This is
particularly chosen by many for off-beat experience and also for
lesser time needed compared to Kilimanjaro.

Windows can open and roof-top can open. It is not AC.
Can be used for transport between parks or cities.
SEMI OPEN
No windows, huge opening in place of windows, roof top can
also open. Most common and default configuration of safari
vehicle. Can be used between cities and parks. Default type for
Kenya
FULLY OPEN
This usually belongs to local hotels, cannot be used for
transport between cities and parks. Roof does not open, but
is high enough. Rain protection is there, covers can roll down.
We provide semi-open configuration by default for Kenya and fully closed for Tanzania. If you wish to have any of the other
two configurations for your safari, let us know during booking. There could be a nominal extra cost to arrange those.
UNDERSTANDING TRANSFER VEHICLES
MINIVAN
Often used for transport between cities and parks. Is not
AC. Upto 4-5 people can comfortably travel, more than 5 is
not recommended with luggage. These are fine for short
travel times upto 3-5 hours, for anything more we
recommend SUV or flying.
LANDCRUISER – SEMI OPEN OR CLOSED
Can be used between cities and parks. Is not AC. Upto 4-5
people can comfortably travel, more than 5 is not recommended
with luggage. These are fine for short travel times upto 3-5 hours,
for anything more we recommend SUV or flying.
SEDAN, SUV, MINIBUS & LUXURY CARS
Depending on group size and budget we recommend
appropriate version. Typically for couples we prefer Sedans
for inter-city or park transfers, and 3-4 people we prefer
minivans or SUVs. These are AC.
Wherever direct flight connectivity is available, we prefer to recommend flying as driving between parks or cities can be tiring and take
away from your overall safari experience. However drives of upto 3 hours are fine, as that much time is even needed for airport processes.
While booking let us know your choices of transfer vehicles. If any. Typically AC vehicles are not needed in Kenya from a temperature
perspective. By default we usually choose between minivan or landcruiser depending on route.
WILDLIFE ACCOMMODATION
• Many wildlife parks, especially big parks like Serengeti and Masai
Mara have multiple stay options inside the park
• Wildlife accommodations without exception are eco-friendly and
sustainably built. Many are luxury tented camps, some are lodges.
Swimming pool, spa etc are usuals.
• In all wildlife accommodations, all meals are usually included. All
facilities are en-suite.
• Ones classified midrange here are very comfortable, placed in
excellent locations, usually will have buffets or set meals, may have
medium to large facility. Ones classified luxury are more exclusive,
give more privacy, are always a small facility, serve gourmet meals
and wines, give butler service etc.
BEACH ACCOMMODATION
• Luxury to comfortable beach villas and hotels are available in most
beach destinations like Mombasa, Zanzibar and Diani.
• Multiple meal options available like CP, MAP, AP
CITY ACCOMMODATION
• On the luxury end there are some heritage cottages/villas available
in the big towns, typical 4 and 5 star business hotels are available
everywhere.
• Usually sold on bed and breakfast basis.
Mantra is to keep it eco-friendly and “blend with
nature”

PART 4 OF 5 : ACTIVITIES
GAME DRIVES
Game drives in a 4x4 land cruiser with our knowledgeable guides is the best way to enjoy the African wildlife. You can choose game drive
schedule at your comfortable pace, you could do full day drives or venture out only in mornings and evenings.
BUSH BREAKFASTS
During morning game-drives, we setup breakfasts in the savannahs. It is quite a different experience to have your
breakfast in the company of Lions and Hyenas, but in the safety net of your guides.
During one of the evenings, we setup a bush dinner in a secluded area in the park or camp premises, with
Masais singing and dancing over a bonfire & story-telling
BUSH DINNERS, BONFIRES & MASAI STORY TELLING
Sundowner is an evening session setup in the park with cocktails and snacks, during sunset.
It is possibly the best way to enjoy and feel the majestic African sunset.
SUNDOWNERS
We visit a local Masai village one day to learn about local culture and traditions,
then join the villagers for a folk song and dance session.
MASAI VILLAGE VISIT (OPTIONAL ADD ON)
Walking safaris are a great way to explore the wilderness of Kenya and appreciate
the great flora and fauna. It happens at selected places.
WALKING SAFARIS
This is a 45 minute to 1 hour early morning hot air balloon ride over the park starting around sunrise. You will see some wildlife also. There are
up to 16 people in a balloon and a pilot. Post the rides there is a champagne bush breakfast laid out in the park.
BALLOON SAFARIS
PART 5 OF 5 : ABOUT US
Wild Voyager was started with a
passion to rekindle the sense of
wonder for travel, through
authentic experiences; first it
leaves you speechless and then
brings out the story-teller in you
The story of “plunging” over the wildernesses
The story of exploring the final frontier of our planet
The story of living amidst the Lions
The story of the naughty tiger cubs
The story of gazing at Northern
lights from your private glass igloo
The story of discovering the ancient wellness secrets
OUR DESTINATIONS
“Our aim is not to expand the destinations rapidly, but to enhance the experiences within these destinations”
We take you to our happy places
around the world, for some of the
most exotic wildlife, birding, nature,
culture and leisure experiences
which become your stories for
tomorrow.
Authentic experiences, from the heart
The holidays we curate for you are all first-hand
experiences. Each of the itineraries listed on our website
is a heartfelt experience that has been undertaken by
one or more of our team members, and has been
fine-tuned with a lot of in the field experience. We are not
here to sell you travel, but to handcraft unique
experiences of your lifetime.
The rigour of execution
Our in-house operations team meticulously
manages your travel to the minutest detail
and we never outsource trips to any third
party vendor as your quality of experience
matters the most to us. Still things can go
wrong once in a while, but our guests have
been moved by the empathy with which we
have always stood by them
Goodwill ambassadors for mother earth
We believe that tourism needs to be more
inclusive and the local communities must
benefit from that. When you travel with us,
you indirectly touch upon lives in many ways.
Be it sponsoring the education of a poor tribal
child to providing ration to a pandemic struck
community to sponsoring wildlife
conservation projects, as we invest (and not
merely donate) a part of our income for social
and environmental causes.
WHY US
v
Nothing makes us more happy than seeing happy faces of our guests, and a lot goes into achieving that. So we decided to hear it from our guests on what
they loved about us. We have taken some snippets from selected guests below, and categorized them as per our core brand promises to you.

  • 10. OPTIONS OF TREKS IN KENYA Trekking, Lake Elementaita Walking around the lake in the morning or afternoon is great for birding. There is always a high concentration of flamingo on the shores, with Fish Eagles and other birds in the forests. Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle and other plains game are often seen here. For that you will need couple of days in Lake Nakuru. Menengai Crater Trek An excellent hike in this area is to the rim of Menengai Crater, high over Nakuru town. This huge volcanic crater is 12km across and 500m deep. It is possible to climb up to the craters edge (2272m) with spectacular views from the top. The hike should take about 6 hours to the crater and back from Nakuru. For that you will need couple of days in Lake Nakuru. Hiking Mount Longonot The 2100m high Mt Longonot is an enjoyable way to spend a day. The views from the top across to Naivasha and the Aberdares are sensational, and the views of the crater within the mountain even more breathtaking. The climb up is relatively easy if you take it slowly, and the average climber can reach the top in an hour and a half, following a well defined path. There are rest stops with tables on the way. Once at the top, a further hour can be spent walking around the crater rim, with excellent views the entire way. There is also a steep path down to the crater floor. Ranger guides are available at the Park Gate. Longonot is an easy day’s trek, but for the adventurous, the crater presents interesting possibilities for abseiling. Abseillers would need their own equipment and the assistance of a locally skilled guide. For that you will need couple of days in Lake Naivasha. Trekking or hiking at Hells Gate Dry, dusty and dramatic but infinitely peaceful, Hell's Gate is that rare thing: an adventurous Kenyan park with large animals that's safe to explore by bicycle or on foot. Large carnivores are very rare, so you can cycle to your heart's content past grazing zebras, giraffes, impalas and buffaloes, spot rock hyraxes as they clamber up inclines and chase dust clouds as they swirl in the wind. And if the pedalling isn't enough exercise, hike the gorge or climb Fischer's Tower through the canyons of Hells gate. It’s a comfortable short hike.

Once can supplement it with a few days of Serengeti safari or Zanzibar beach relaxation at the end. Decent accommodation is available at most altitudes and it can be possibly a luxury trek. Following are the routes Lemosho route- This route takes 8 days with relaxed trekking. The campsites are maintained according to the height. Machame route- It is the most popular route and always stays busy. It is also famous for the stunning view of the west of the mountain. Rongai route- It is one of the quietest routes. This route is most popular among trekkers. You can take one more day for acclimatization. Shira route- It also takes around 8 days. https:/ /www.wildvoyager.com/destination/mount-kilimanjaro/ Mount Meru is Africa’s second-highest mountain peak (the first being Mount Kilimanjaro), it stands at over 4500 sq feet above sea level, situated over the Arusha National Park in Tanzania. While the Meru height seems easier to reach than Kilimanjaro’s, it is an arduous three to four day climb, with fickle weather and altitude sickness a constant source of hindrance and worry. Base for the climb is Arusha, and air base is Kilimanjaro Airport. This is particularly chosen by many for off-beat experience and also for lesser time needed compared to Kilimanjaro. https:/ /www.wildvoyager.com/destination/mount-meru/ Mount Meru Kilimanjaro Routes

WIFI & CONNECTIVITY WiFi is available in common areas of most hotels and camps that we book. Local phone and data networks work fine in most national parks (speeds can vary greatly) and cities. LANGUAGE & SAFETY English is spoken widely and these countries are very safe for tourists, particularly with our arrangements. • 29. UNDERSTANDING BUSH FLIGHTS Small 10-12 seater single prop planes connect the cities to the national parks and beaches in all these countries. Eg Nairobi to Masai Mara, Arusha to Serengeti, Entebbe to Bwindi etc. These flights usually take 40-60 minutes and are very convenient option to travel to wilderness regions and beaches. Typical return fares are USD 250-350 per person.
  • 30. UNDERSTANDING SAFARI VEHICLES FULLY CLOSED Windows can open and roof-top can open. It is not AC. Can be used for transport between parks or cities. SEMI OPEN No windows, huge opening in place of windows, roof top can also open. Most common and default configuration of safari vehicle. Can be used between cities and parks. Default type for Kenya FULLY OPEN This usually belongs to local hotels, cannot be used for transport between cities and parks. Roof does not open, but is high enough. Rain protection is there, covers can roll down. We provide semi-open configuration by default for Kenya and fully closed for Tanzania. If you wish to have any of the other two configurations for your safari, let us know during booking. There could be a nominal extra cost to arrange those.
  • 31. UNDERSTANDING TRANSFER VEHICLES MINIVAN Often used for transport between cities and parks. Is not AC. Upto 4-5 people can comfortably travel, more than 5 is not recommended with luggage. These are fine for short travel times upto 3-5 hours, for anything more we recommend SUV or flying. LANDCRUISER – SEMI OPEN OR CLOSED Can be used between cities and parks. Is not AC. Upto 4-5 people can comfortably travel, more than 5 is not recommended with luggage. These are fine for short travel times upto 3-5 hours, for anything more we recommend SUV or flying. SEDAN, SUV, MINIBUS & LUXURY CARS Depending on group size and budget we recommend appropriate version. Typically for couples we prefer Sedans for inter-city or park transfers, and 3-4 people we prefer minivans or SUVs. These are AC. Wherever direct flight connectivity is available, we prefer to recommend flying as driving between parks or cities can be tiring and take away from your overall safari experience. However drives of upto 3 hours are fine, as that much time is even needed for airport processes. While booking let us know your choices of transfer vehicles. If any. Typically AC vehicles are not needed in Kenya from a temperature perspective. By default we usually choose between minivan or landcruiser depending on route.
