Marley,PeterToshandMontyAlexanderjusttonameafew.Whilegrowingupinthelate70’s
early80’sAinsleywasexposedtomanygenresofmusicsuchasReggae,soulandR&B.
DuringHighschoolyears,DuringHighschoolyears,Ainsleyreallybegantogrowanddevelopinhisloveforsingingand
performingonstage.SchooltalentshowsandconcertswastheplatformforAinsleytoshine
andotherscouldappreciatehisvocalabilities.“Ienjoyedentertainingandsingingforothers,
oneofmyfavouriteandmostrequestedsongswereR.Kelly’s:IBelieveICanFly,”says
Ainsley.
Attheageof21,AinsleymetCoreyButler(GraduateofMusic/JazzfromHumberCollege,
rrenownedmusicianinToronto,TeacheratYorkUniversity,MusicandCreativeArtsDirector
atGlobalKingdomMinistries),whombecamehisfirstformalprivatemusicteacher2000while
livinginJamaica.ThismarkedamajorturningpointinAinsley’slifeandcareerpath,which
ledtoenrollingintoTheEdnaManleyCollegeMusicprogram,wherehestudiedpiano,voice,
MauriceGordon(jazzmusician/professorandGraduateofYorkUniversity)andMichael
“Iboo”Cooper(teacher).LutherVandross,TeddyPendergrass,AnitaBaker,FredHammond,
OscarPetersonarenamesthatrepresentthegenresthathaveinfluencedandinspiredAinsley
duringhistimespentatEdnaManleyCollege.DuringthelatteduringhistimespentatEdnaManleyCollege.Duringthelatterpartofhiscollegeexperience,
AinsleyreallyfellinlovewithJazzandGospelmusicasitallowedhimtoexpresshimselffreely
andcreatively.
AftermigratingtoMississaugaOntario,Canadain2009,Ainsleytaughtvoice,pianoandflute
privatelyfromhishomebasedSchoolofMusicandvoiceatSynergyArtsAcademyin
Brampton.PriortoattendingYorkUniversity,heattendedMerriamSchoolofMusictofurther
enhancehisqualificationsandwastaughtbyBrianDeLima(TutoratYorkUniversity).Itwas
BrianthathadrecommendedYorkUniversity’sMusicProgram.
NowcurrentlyenrolledintheArtsMediaPerformanceandDesignProgramatYorkUniversity,
AinsleyisaspiringtoobtainaSpecialHonoursDegreeandwiththesupportofhiswifeand
daughtercontinuetopursueaMaster’sinMusicEducationandtoinfluenceotherstopursue
andfollowtheirdreams!
