1. THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH
I´dlike to recommend a book which I read read because, this book is very interesting, called The
Pillars of the Earth. It is a historical novel by British author Ken Follett.
The book is a historical novel and the setting is set in England in the Middle Ages, particularly in
the twelfth century, during a period of civil war known as the English Anarchy, between the sinking
of the White Ship and the murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket. The main characters are Tom
Builder and his family. Tom is a mason who becomes poor after losing his job in a home builder for
the son of a nobleman, William Hamleigh.
The things I liked most about the book when Ellen van to forest monastery to see the baby, which
the monks have named Jonathan, and decide to leave for the monks to raise. This historical novel
has a good plot an many memorable scenes.
All in all, I think about this historical novel, and though it hasn´t got happy ending, because, Henry
II was whipped, symbolically, by Philip. The latter, too old, he was appointed Bishop of Kingsbridge,
a big city now, thanks to the cathedral priory would gem. I whouldn´t change it, except the ending
and some scenes.
