You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy the fun and creative atmosphere
of a wine and paint night at Vin Gogh. The approximately 80
paintings available for visitors to re-create tend to keep the beginner
painter in mind and an artistic instructor provides step by step
instructions. “It is not an art lesson, but an art experience,” says
Debi Baldwin, an art teacher at the studio. The two-hour sessions
run Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7 pm (Saturday mornings are for
ages 10+ and include coffee or tea) and include art supplies plus one
glass of wine. Drop in beforehand and pair one of seven wines with
a sharable plate like their exceptional beet, goat cheese, and candied
pecan flatbread. 7004 Macleod Tr, 403-475-4644, vingogh.ca — A.Z.

MAY 27 – JUNE 12
The new DJD Dance Centre
is the home of Decidedly
Jazz Danceworks (DJD),
a contemporary jazz dance
company, as well as a place for
community dance workshops
and performances. If you walk by
the stunning glass building, you
might just get a glimpse of the
dancers rehearsing. To christen
the new space, DJD is performing
New Universe, a show comprised
of nine dancers who mix genres
of contemporary dance for a
powerful, upbeat performance.
The original music is performed
live by a four piece jazz band and
conducted by William Parker, a
legendary composer of the New
York jazz scene. 111 - 12 Ave SE,

THEGREATESCAPE
Think you’ve got what it takes to survive a zombie apocalypse?
Were you a pirate or a cowboy in your past life? Do you just like
to solve puzzles? One of Calgary’s escape room attractions, The
Locked Room, offers guests the opportunity to travel back in time
or into a different universe for an incredibly fun and challenging
experience. Players are locked into a room of their choosing, where
they must work together to figure out clues and solve puzzles in
order to escape, all within a time limit. Each room consists of a
fun theme and corresponding story line. At their newest location,
you can battle mythical beasts from Ancient Greece in “Lair of
the Minotaur,” race against the clock to show up on your wedding
day by piecing together clues of the hazy night before in “Hipster
Hangover” (an adults-only, 18+ room), grab the gold aboard a
wild west locomotive in “The Great Train Heist,” or try and tackle
Alberta’s largest escape room in “The Sinister Study,” where you’ll
need at least four people to solve the clues about what’s haunting the
room. $24.95 per person per game. 9937 Fairmount Dr SE, 587-
